Much of the media's attention is focused on what harm Pete Hegseth's reckless irresponsibility might do to him, when it should be focused on what harm it could have done to our troops--and *will* do to our relationships with allies, especially in Europe.
Maybe, just maybe, the Trump administration should spend less time trying to force itself on Greenland and more time making sure they don’t day-drunk text war plans in group chats.
We do not have a free country in this moment. When they can nab someone off the street because they don't like what they say, they can nab anyone.

One of the worst things to happen to TV news in my lifetime is the fixation on how politicians should deal with a crisis from a PR perspective rather than the scandal itself. This wasn't common years ago. They just discussed the substance of the news, not how politicians should spin things.
I learned this week that you can put our troops' lives in danger, compromise our national security, and violate the Espionage Act. And the government will do nothing. But if you write an editorial for your school newspaper that Trump doesn't like, you will be abducted on the street and disappeared.
