rough-looking gentleman:
"Hi, I'm a scurvy-ridden whaleman who got trapped in the ice for 27 days, can you help me?"
Mrs. Humphrey:
(taps sign) "Can ye no read boyo? MONTHS, plural. Oh
Off with ye!"
Somebody must have made a good deal out of the amount of citrus fruit she must have been importing - or am I assuming too much about treatment protocols of the 1830s for the scorbutics? Maybe they just got lots of cabbage.
Look, scurvy-ridden and trapped in the ice for months are plain enough, but I'm going to need some sort of clarification on whether these were whalers, or whether the furry community of the 1830s had some kind of size fetish.
And we kissed, as though nothing could fall
And the shame, was on the other side
Oh we can beat them, for ever and ever
Then we could be Heroes, just for one day
It is on Orkney, an island off the north-east coast of Scotland. The men had been trapped in ice off the coast of Greenland for the winter. Just in case anyone wanted to know the history ;-)
Strictly correct. Stromness is the town located on the island that is known as Mainland, Orkney. Or simply Orkney for short. Apologies for the shorthand.
Thank you Brian. If I was being very pedantic, I would say the Mainland is referred to as just ‘the Mainland’ while ‘Orkney’ refers to the whole archipelago, including outer isles as well.
Thanks for spreading this, Stromness, and Orkney are great.
I can't take a phrase like that and *not* feed it into an AI generator to see what it does. Surprisingly tame, but I'm not sure what the point of the draught excluders is 😂

But do come visit. It’s great.

Missed opportunity.
ok like the last part’s a bad thing
ok now I’m thinking about whale offal and probably I’d be caught by a polar bear while chewing on my hand instead probably
Violets are nice
