I wonder if this person is too young or just forgetting things, because in many social media platforms you basically only interacted with your contacts, unless you actively went to communities
This whole thing of every single post potentially becoming a debate is fairly recent in comparison
True but even there, each group had a relatively small number of users. Getting brigaded by a crew from another newsgroup was something that happened but it was a group event, not a regular thing by individuals.
The British have the worst insults. "Wanker" - yes, from time to time? "Tosser" - same. "Twit" - sounds like something a 3rd grader would say in place of a curse word to be edgy
And in the language where they've eliminated the pronunciation of the letter "H", they have the audacity to say "herb".
Is there a Lewis’ Law for social media features? (Lewis’ Law is named after journalist Helen Lewis, based on a tweet she made in August 2012: Comments on any article about feminism justify feminism)
I think thru all the blocklists I’ve weeded out most of the reply guys left on this website and ik most people also have them blocked which is awesome. Keep giving them less space
If it was debate he wanted, like actual dialogue and discussion, rather than trolling and time-wasting, I wouldn't be as excited as I am.for the followers only function.
I’ve been working really hard on my reply guy game lately, trying to find the right balance of being at least marginally funny, sometimes informative, but never rude.
Well except for the most recent reply to Chuck Schumer. That fellow gets my hackles up.
If you wanted to be a debate pervert why wouldn’t you just follow whosoever you want to argue with until they block you. Not only annoying, but the laziest assholes on earth
For those that don't want a reply, their loss...for those that do, their delete button works...your not stuck with whoever replies, but sometime, you find gems :)) To each their own.
The "if you do/don't do this I'm leaving" user reply is one of my favorites for how impotent it is. Oh no, a single annoying stranger I don't care about won't interact anymore? Please, tell me it isn't so. My world is over.
One of the funniest interactions I ever had online was when a favorite neighborhood restaurant reiterated the citywide mask policy back in 2021. Someone commented, "If you all won't let me in without a mask on then I'm not coming to your restaurant!" I said, "That's what they just said, so...yay!" 😆
I had someone pull that while I worked the circulation desk at the UO Law Library. To this day I don't understand why they thought I would care if they ever came back to be a customer at a library.
I love the implication that random jerkoffs laying in their bed replying bring equal value to the discussion and I say this as a jackoff that replies a lot
A whiny baby mad that there are people who are not talking about what he wants to talk about.
I bet he is one of those people plays loud music while walking down the street, and screams about his right to play music when someone complains.
i've seen tons of accounts like andye on threads before.
They'd blame dems & labor on gaza (which is partly true), but suspiciously they never point out anything bad about tories or republicans.
In the end they'd always persuade people not to vote.
and now, andye's timeline is suspicious 1/3
because he's still blaming Keir Starmer for gaza, but there's a glaring absence on trump's stance on invading gaza
another pattern I spotted while I was still investigating the trade of sock accounts on twitter and insta, it's that most of the sock accounts started off as sports account. 2/3
sports accounts that repost american football or soccer clips tend to be viewed as harmless, and many people follow them, then when it's sold, it's converted to crypto, NFT, and often, disinformation accounts.
andye's account is very suspicious @safety.bsky.app
pls block and report him.

You weren't on Usenet, were you ?
No luck catching them swans then?
It's time we rode into the sunset.
Long live king dril

...threatening the sick with health.
The answer is in your reply.
Kisses,
Paul
I’m sure that’ll help.

Lol no

I would guess this person doesn't know too much about the site's features.
Can anyone who knows atproto tell me what happens if you publish a reply record while they're gated? Does it appear once replies are ungated?
"Oh, no. You're going to leave and stop pestering me. What a loss."
otoh Twitter/x without interesting replies became invertebrate
No backbone
It can help more marginalized people keep out most of the shit posters and haters.

And, yep to the rest of what you say here.
