It's the saddest attempt to pretend a caucasian slur even exists let alone has the hate or impact actual hateful slurs do. Anyone claiming offence is really trying to excuse their use of slurs 🤷🏻♀️
I'd consider it a slur but in the same sense that a bell pepper is still a pepper and still has a scoville rating, even if it is only a mere 100. It's the bell pepper of slurs.
If you want to get spicier, use wakishu, which is biting as fuck considering the meaning. Should still be allowed.
"Florida cracker is used informally by some Floridians to indicate that their families have lived in the state for many generations. It is considered a source of pride to be descended from frontier people who did not just live but flourished in a time before air conditioning, mosquito repellent..."
Cracker is definitely a slur. It just doesn’t have the same societal oppression along with it as other racial slurs. To deny it’s a slur completely shows brain rot.
It is not lol no one with half a brain is actually bothered by being called a cracker. It's just a fake argument by people who have a vested interest in dismantling the paltry progress made
We need to come up with a new word for "slur" that only means words intended to harm marginalized communities because I can not, in good faith, consider "cracker" a fuckin slur.
see I always thought this was in reference to the food, like saltines, because we're white, bland, and salty. then I learned about where it came from and now I feel less comfortable with it
