This is truly how capitalism was going to end we either evolve our economic system or we will perish. Yes capitalism was a stage that brought about some good things, but it is currently destroying our planet and turning people into fodder for the system.
Reminds me of GM lobbying against single payer even though the profit margin on Canadian-built cars is higher mostly due to health care costs. Capital wears the cloak of rational self interest but it still comes down to anti-worker ideology

Disaster Capitalism has mastered the art of continuing to make money off people as the world crumbles. Wealth inequality increased during the pandemic as the 1% rocketed up faster than ever, while most people struggled with unemployment, shortages, and raising housing costs.
With monopolies a lot of businesses think they're too big to fail. Backed up by years of government bailouts. And covid taught them, that when everyone else is floundering, it's a great opportunity to buy stuff cheap.
The same pharmaceutical companies that make the vaccines you take once in your life make the medications you'll have to take for the rest of your life after you get sick.

Almost all of these moves are being challenged in courts, blue states are instituting policies to protect their residents as much as they can, people are protesting and boycotting and working on their legislators and educating their neighbors—things are being done.
Our biggest problem is that our system has no built-in way to remove a corrupt president if enough members of Congress are too corrupt to do so. And the Republicans are. So we have to go at all this indirectly. Which SUCKS.
I don't know if we'll get a nat'l strike, because labor is weak here and the country is enormous and hard to pull together. But one way or another, I think things will escalate, especially once it gets through to people who aren't paying attention that no, actually, they're not just "cutting waste."

Most Americans don't know that before FDR most (as in MOST) Americans died in poverty. Every schoolchild should be taught this and sent home to ask their parents if they knew this was true. Before LBJ and Medicare Americans died younger too.
