All my displays have been connected through USB-C for 5 years now, can't see a better option for doing everything via one cable (power, display, USB hub).
No, android to windows wireless transfer is still finicky and I avoid adding photos to the cloud to save storage space, so once a quarter I transfer those photos and videos I want to save from phone to my computer to an external hard drive.
DJ controller, soundcard, midi keyboard, connecting phone to car audio, mouse and ppt clicker receivers, and even, occasionally a cd drive. So still a bit of usb around here for piping low latency audio and midi around, connecting non-Bluetooth wireless devices, and ripping uncompressed audio.
Have you done that thing where you go around the house trying to find who stole the good cable?
I had carefully identified which cable was the best, and paired it with the laptop block, so when my phone is nearly out, I can fast charge it to a decent level before I go #adhdplanning
The project author also wrote a script that allows a wired-in Android phone to use the computer's internet which might seem useless at first unless you have secure European banking apps that only work on a device basis

Every time I print. Every time I plug a thumb drive in. Every time I use an external keyboard. Every time I sync & backup my phone. Every time I charge my headset. The list goes on & on.
Copying pictures off my phone to my desktop. I use a thumb drive for moving small-ish files from computer to computer that are still too big to send via corporate Outlook. And I have a hard drive toaster plugged in as well. I work with a lot of files.
a. copying images off CF etc. cards nearly every day
b. sideloading on my kindle
c. printing (either with cable or usb stick)
d. i actually have an old school ipod that's been massively upgraded…
Right now I'm using USB for my keyboard, gamepad, SD card reader for transfers from my digital camera, desktop speakers, and most embarrassingly the fiber-optic element that illuminates the perimeter of my oversized mouse pad. 🫠
At work today:
* keyboard to laptop dock
* 2nd monitor to laptop dock
* flash drive to move data from collection instrument PC to interpretation PC (not networked)
* USB-connected printer on that interpretation PC
* desktop scanner on another PC
* barcode scanner on yet another PC
This morning. I transferred some pics and videos from my phone to my desktop machine.
I also use USB to use my custom controller with the Nintendo Switch.
Next question?
30 minutes ago, to connect the authentication device.
Not all of them is provide cell phone authentication, and it is actually easier when you travel around.
A few times a week because the laptop I use for altering formats of digital media is not part of my Apple account, so I just move stuff back & forth on sd cards, thumb drives, and a thunderbolt hard drive.
But I’m also the type to keep a hammer beside the printer in case it acts sketchy.
USB mic for podcasting. USB wired keyboard because my wireless one broke. USB external hard drive. USB headphones for my phone. USB dongle to connect my wireless mouse.

that's pretty neat
I utilize nearly every USB port on my system.
Well, it would be good, if there weren't like 20 different USB-C display and wattage standards.

And I can’t remember if the soundbar is connected via USB or optic. So maybe that too
