Hammer To Fall, easy. Specifically the Live Aid version, which was done at a faster tempo than studio and was the ultimate proof that Freddie was the GOAT.
Queen’s too eclectic. A Night at the Opera has The Prophet’s Song and Seaside Rendevous on it. Of the released singles it’s The Show Must Go On, from their discography it’s 39.
Ooh. That's a tough one ('cause Don't Stop Me Now is, in fact, my very favourite Queen song). It's a toss-up between Killer Queen and Crazy Little Thing Called Love.
My dad's favourite bad was Queen. At his funeral we was going to have Who Wants To Live Forever cos he would have loved that with his humour haha...but we ended up with Radio Ga Ga instead :) He loved the radio and he loved Queen LOL.
Damn, I keep thinking about this one and thinking of other songs I could have added but didn't think of at the time. Like they had so many epic tracks and you can't pick just one, much less have a short list.
I don't associate it with bisexuals as much as I do with my inherent transness of being. The whole video is about the isolation and performative death of strict gender roles.
right now the ones i've been orbiting around the most are prophet's song, death on two legs, the night comes down, and the march of the black queen. all of these fill really specific niches in the kinds of music i need at any given time but if i had to pick a fave it'd be the prophet's song
Earlier today I did my semi-daily therapy walk and Queen's "best friend" was the second song on a Playlist my younger self made for me. =) 😀 So in that moment my younger self was my best friend. 👌
Guess it's not the point but when exactly did "Don't Stop Me Now" become ~anyone's~ favorite Queen song? I hadn't even heard of it until like a year ago, and I was in jr. high when Wayne's World came out.
Although the poignancy of the final shot is completely ruined if you watch it on YouTube and get a couple of "WATCH THIS NEXT" thumbnails covering up Freddy's final goodbye to the fans.
Back when the Discord Music Bots worked, my D&D group would play songs in voice chat before the game started. I put Breakthrough by Queen in the queue because Boys of Summer was already in there and i always thought they sounded similar.
We were down the Queen rabbit hole for the next two weeks.
The thing I love about that song was that Freddie nailed it in one take while he was dying. He poured every last ounce he had of his heart and soul into that song, and it really comes through. It just makes that song and its message so much more powerful.
Been working in precarious, messy professions (like illustration and teaching) for most of my life. Despite all the disappointment and anxiety, I feel "Radio, someone still loves you," down to my soul.
To be honest, I may not love it as much as Under Pressure. But Good Old-Fashioned Lover Boy should be heard much more often and makes me want to STRUT.
It's so close between so many but The Show Must Go On is probably my absolute fave but I cannot listen to it without remembering the story behind it like how sick he was when they recorded it and all that which just adds to the meaning of the song etc etc so I end up in tears every goddamn time !

Best song: Radio Ga Ga
I don't think we talk enough about how much Freddie fucking aced ballads.
Like, Queen has an incredible collection of bangers. But when Freddie got to take off the leash and get full-on theatrical? No comparison.
(if I have to pick a single song it'd actually be Somebody to Love which is not in that set lol)
