We were never too cool for protests when we lived in DC
Also, the vast majority of the hats were handmade by someone, even if not the person wearing them. There were people who couldn’t go, but could knit, sending hats
I will also say that march also opened my eyes to who got a say in the organizing, and I've stayed engaged in advocacy for intersectionalism too. That march was really important for me, ymmv.
I tried to track down the origin of "pink hats are racist" and grew to suspect it was a false flag op.
