they should make video games so that they listen through your mic for the sound of a beer opening and when it detects it your character in the game will also have a beer in their hand

You can actually drink in VR with the Bigscreen Beyond because the headset is so small - the mic 🎤 s great and it can sense the head tilt, so it’s a good candidate for this.
It’s a little too good actually… (tested it in the name of Science).
Gordon Freeman.. in the flesh.. Or rather, in the hazard suit. I took the liberty of relieving you of your weapons; most of them were government property. As for the Coors Light™, I think you’ve earned it.
Only if they can tell the difference between a can of beer and a can of Red Bull, and the characters behave accordingly in-game. Also they should be able to detect wine for the classier drunk videogamer.
What's neat too is that soft drinks could be opened similarly to that of beer cans and bottles and still count as far as the microphone and program would detect. A sober-friendly feature accessibilty, if someone needed it. 🙂
Are you implying I would risk opening a frothy beverage near my expensive battlestation? Are you some kind of rich heir who can just buy new hardware everyday?
My charcter does this with the drug mod buy because I found the sledge hammer early on i litterally tear out a pair of stairs add a climbing rope like I would I irl then I sit at the window and clear the entire area with the 8x sniper I found from a dead hunter.
I think they're already implementing similar tech. I was playing a game last night and after a few beers my character started acting irrational and making reckless decisions!
"Slye lines up for the field goal, and... Wait a minute, Rex! He's gonna kick the ball one-handed... All thanks to the cool refreshing taste of Coors Light???"
When playing Horizon Zero Dawn, I would tell my kids that the controller could hear them talking, and that made the robosaurs find Alloy easier. It was the only game I got to play in silence.
Running into the living room as my roommate plays Monster Hunter just to crack open a beer and fuck up his iframes with the "pick up beer from bag" animation.
That'll require a goddamn actual LLM working on the game code itself lmao. I mean its possible given there are some geniuses out there, but its gonna be a quite a task, to say the least.
the sad part it that this could actually be a cool use of AI to detect the sound of a beer opening but instead all we get is fake drawings and siri part 2
There was a video game on the ps2 called Lifeline that involved using the mic to direct the character. Wish we’d get something like that with today’s technology.
I actually want games to start taking real weather into account. Like, I think it would be cool if either I’m playing a game on a rainy day then it’s raining in the game, or if you’re playing a game that focuses on a known location, like Spider-Man in NYC, then the weather matches
I have purchased this...well because. It was a clearance item and Im an impulse buyer.
If you are a construction worker or similar and do not know about the Duluth Firehose pants, you should slap yourself and buy 12 pairs.
They are half price right now, and they hold up for YEARS. Not months.
Would the game be able to differentiate between beer and other drinks? Like, if I crack open a can of Irn-Bru or San Pellegrino, does my character also get a soft drink, or do they just get beer? (which would still work if the character in question is intended to be a bit of an alcoholic, mind you.)
You can't just ask an autistic person to be specific like that. I'd be naming the specific drink and getting annoyed when my character cracks open a Generic In Universe Beverage instead, even though there are undoubtedly licencing reasons for it.

It won't be generic beer ... it'll be some rebrand of whatever Zima has become and they still can't sell
Please have update 2 include weed inhaling as well.

If my character popped open a bud light I'd uninstall
Anyway usually that sound is actually a Red Bull and we don't have the tech to detect drink by can sound (yet)
