Thank you. It sure is frustrating tho. I get so pissed in League by always having laners or adcβs that donβt know what the heck they are doing. Then I must admit I swap to playing top or adc for a bit before going back to support.
This. I saw trash healer after trash healer in everquest. And again in wow. Then you're forced to make a meatshield because you've healed poorly geared/played tanks.
I think it's just people like to use 'healing is hard, you wouldn't understand' as an excuse for why they don't play well tbh.
It's not that healing is hard, it's just you have to watch for different things. instead of watching a damage rotation, you have to watch boss aoe and party health/debuff
But I'm tired of support. I want one of the narcissistic 12 yo to gain enlightenment and trade knowledge with me so that we could both become better for it
In TF2, I always thank my Medic when they start healing. Altough fingers crossed for when I am playing Demoman and he doesn't say "I didn't need your help, you know."
To everyone who ends up playing tank or support in every game because they donβt have main character syndrome and just want to help the team win, I salute you π«‘
Games these days are doing support roles way better. Sometimes having a list of weird utility options that can make dope combos is waaaay more fun than 'im the guy who gets to shoot the other guy'.
I try but I just lost 10 games in a row because of supporting really bad teams. As support, my options were limited when I realized the teams I was paired with had no macro awareness. π₯²
I honestly just don't get why people love damage dealers π Like sure, big number, but have you tried making plays happen? Pulling a game-changing save? I'm the real carry, y'all π
i play support so i can watch people day if i chose to refuse to heal them, and if someone get's stunned locked? i heal them so they get stuck into that loop for longer
My husband does this. He also shepherds newbies with the patience of Christ himself. π I LOVE to listen to him work with the rankest level-1rs, heβs so patient and kind with them. Heβs the freakin best. β€οΈ
i canβt be a damage dealer by being fruity - so iβll assume my role as support character and help as much as i can! thank you for recognizing us π«Ά
Itβs been awhile since I played SWTOR but in PvP matches I was a healer and often got voted MVP. In other PvP games Iβve played (which is rare these days) I still play support but donβt get any love.
Sometimes I get the urge to just queue for support when I usually queue for all roles and can play all roles fine, but when me and my friends arenβt on support and we get unlucky with randos I start wishing I had just been support
Nothing worse then the last guy/girlguy to pick a role demanding to be the damage dealer. Always learn 2 roles to play so you can be flexible for the team
I canβt tell you how man times Iβve turned around from a tactical retreat to go revive a random a mother fucker who was downed by the approaching enemy.
Or when they don't use their damage mitigation skills/follow the boss mechanic and get one shot by the boss and blame the healer for not being able to outheal a oneshot mechanic.
The Leeroy Jenkins shenanigans DPS mains get up to is insufferable, like brother I am not following into the enemy spawn, we are playing Domination π
Engineer TF2 is my favorite support character in any multiplayer game. Not because I like the process of building my nests. But because I can use the Gunslinger and completely disregard all of that βstrategyβ and just put up my support builds, place my mini sentry, and run in guns blazing
Also shout-out to the gamers who help people learn to play support (or tank, or DPS properly) roles and don't berate someone who's trying a new class. π
As a healer main myself I do get frustrated with healers who actively don't do the job. Had several situations where had healer rush to the front line trying to get kills instead of support your tank and DPS. Don't make us look bad, it's already a thankless job.
Me (who will always play support when it'll benefit the team), seeing this post:
(Support class doesn't get enough love & I'll always defend my fellow support squadmates when I play DMG/tank because I know they're always targeted π₯²)
I main support & damage, but can do abit of tank. I like to adapt to situations.
I do prioritize healing though, a good support can turn a match around. Not to brag but I always got gold medals for heals. I'm putting in WORK to keep ppl alive π @wyvernsone.bsky.social would vouch.
Healer in a Dungeon is the hardest. A couple of times while running a Dungeon we lost the Healer they disconnected or quit. I switched my Shaman to healing so we could keep going. Keeping the Tank alive, then the DPS and of course myself, I don't think anyone else had Rez. Totally Underappreciated.
Support is like the only way for me to be effective because my aim and playstyle is god awful, I've tried to improve it but I always end up defaulting to the same ineffective playstyle after awhile.
Also support characters that are more about applying buffs than healing are baller.
Like, I can play as Jeff (in Marvel Rivals) and Iβm probably gonna do better at killing with him rather than, say Thor. I have no clue how to use DPSβes.
I got a little bit tilted at how much damage could get out-healed in Overwatch. Since then Iβve been a bit more cautious about the design of support characters as just infinite fast healing abilities.
Would you consider a tank a form of support. Only asking because my current D&D campaign I'm a Barbarian with the Path of the Ancestral Guardian and look to damage while keeping their damage to a minimum if possible.
Yeah I rage and hit something that way if they swing at anyone they get disadvantage attacks. I can also negate a small bit of damage as a reaction. My half orc Barb is named Hrogath and he cares for his team.
Support players are the people who have the biggest trust issues and usually lead towards the biggest power tripping because we control the power of life and death and if we don't like you? You're getting *ONE* of those. and it ain't life.
Gaming should be supported on SO many more levels. Iβm anβ¦elder gamer. Cut my teeth on Mario side scroll love! But I also know my kids met some amazing people gaming and it became their support community. Never stop playing π

"No, no, its ok. I really wanted to play flank this game, but ill just go back to Grover. Its fine. Really." π
Its not hard, why can no one else do it. Grah.
Been playing mmorpg for over a decade, started out a dps moved to a tank. and then got tired of always having healers who couldn't do their job.
Moved to healers and have never allowed myself to play anything else thanks to long ingrained trust issues.
It's not that healing is hard, it's just you have to watch for different things. instead of watching a damage rotation, you have to watch boss aoe and party health/debuff
If tank health is >80%: i dunno heal one of your dps or something.
Ima miss playing with him
(He isnβt dead, just decided he hated me)
You guys focus on boss DPS, I'm just going to fuck up EVERYTHING ELSE.
Not all heroes wear capes!
That's my favorite.

(key word βturned intoβ like Iβm not always like that)
π₯Ή all I ever wanted was to be loved.
Also support characters that are more about applying buffs than healing are baller.
That's all. That's the comment.
Apothecary class would be cool.

If anything we are the villains.
STOP STANDING IN THE FIRE.
DODGE THE DAMN SKILLSHOTS, THE OTHER GUY IS PREDICTABLE.
MY SHIELDS ARE ON COOLDOWN, STOP ENAGING.
