And they really are afraid of cities. Ask me about a group of four roughneck frackers from Kansas who were scared of downtown Denver on a Tuesday evening. No joke.
"What’s the difference between an American who votes for a dictator and a Christian who remains ignorant of Yeshua’s teachings? There is no difference; they’re the same hypocrite."
(2/2)running a red light will get you a fine or in an accident - then you'd have a lot more injuries and or fines or worse you could not be here to bore us with your inane idiocy.
(1/2)I never understand this "Woke Left" rubbish. Everyone no matter where you stand politically is woke. At it core woke = to be awake and aware or what is going on. To say you anti that is just stupid as it is not a bad thing. If you are not aware that
It's funny because it's true. Afraid of women, science, healthcare, nail polish, books, vegetarians, kindness, empathy, immigrants, education, books, thoughts... the list goes on...and on.
I'm a 68 year old man who rides the trains mornings, days & nights (for almost 40 years in NYC, along with my wife without me) few hiccups along the way but we still prefer subways more than an Uber or taxi (gave up on our own auto long ago).
What an ignorant comment. Crime is increasing bigly in the White House! There are a lot of crazy people everywhere. Especially Republicans in Congress and Republican governors. I’m more afraid of entering the Capitol Building in Washington DC than taking a CTA L train in Chicago.
I can't read Duffy's quote without hearing Grandpa Simpson's voice. It's like he's about to explain why he has an onion tied to his belt at any given moment.
Gotta be honest, the few times I've been on the DC metro (years ago) I hated that those stations looked like a cave or fallout shelter. They've brightened up considerably now!
Bunch of chicken shits. I’ve ridden the train from the east coast to Chicago, Denver, Utah, Los Angeles, and SanFrancisco with a grandson. Just last year to Chicago. Have taken grandkids to NYC and Phila. By train. I’m 70.
Duffy is utterly STUPID! The RADICAL RIGHT is making America very unsafe! Our transit systems are safe. There was NO problem when Pete B was running Transportation. Crime is way down in large cities! What is Dumb Duffy talking about?
I’m always intrigued that the same people who are afraid of the city, afraid of public transportation, and so afraid of other people that they feel the need to carry a gun to protect themselves, call me a snowflake.
Yeah, always fun to check in on the guys from my small rural hometown who came back or never left. Fall into exactly two categories: really chill guys who just like small-town life and reactionaries afraid to drive into even a mid sized city.
I lived in NYC during the 90’s when crime was at an all time high and rode the subway daily without a problem. They keep railing against blue cities when red states have the highest violent crime rates per capita. Stop the fear mongering and look at the facts!
Boy they sure were crimed upon when they went on the subway.
Reminds me of that conservative moron that visited a "crime ridden drug haven" only for it to be a quiet neighborhood of nothing, but talked it up the whole time like he was going to be murdered at any second
"we are afraid of public transit cause of brown people being near us" is now the "public transit is bad cause it costs too much money to build (even though we have the richest empire in the world)"
The big strong men with tears in their eyes are back, but now they’re no longer thanking Mr. Trump for saving them. No one can save them from the Lovecraftian terror of the subway
It has always been dangerous to ride public transit everywhere late at night, when the dangerous, crazy/criminal people are out and about. There's nothing new about that.
the people most likely to be out late at night are usually just people that work shitty shifts… there’s nothing inherently dangerous about it. we learn to stop being afraid of shadows pretty early on…
Mostly true, but the likelihood of running into one of the dangerous types and having them act out is far higher in the late night/overnight, when there is a dearth of security/police and responsible folks to discourage such behavior. Unfortunate for good folks just trying to get to/from work/home.
It is wild to see two people earning six figure salaries open mouthed and shaking their heads in dismay that any mere plebian would dare set foot on such a seething death trap. Why don't they all drive their third cars to and from work like NORMAL people?
another native Texan reporting in. i grew up in a city in the general vicinity of Flower Mound. of note, i only ever see my former hometown make the news for being incredibly racist lol (more than once, of course)
I was looking up the education stats which have always struck me as kinda remarkable about FloMo & learned that Nasher co-founded it as a new community project in '70.
If you think the 'woke' movement is eviscerating you as a man, you never were a real man to begin with. I can introduce you to REAL men. None of them feel the least bit threatened. If anything, they feel that people are finally becoming educated.
in denmark kids take busses, trains, metros etc by themselves every damn day to and from school. most of them starting around eight ish years old. not just school busses, just regular transportation with the rest of us. the thing these people is most scared of is being viewed as us regular folks.
A blind man noticed I needed help connecting trains in NYC and did not hesitate to get me where I needed to get in the heat of the transit rush hour. As we kept on, bystanders made sure that he was okay as we def stood out. I will never forget that experience and have never stopped taking the train.
The greatest danger to trains will be crashes, cut backs to the NTSB, deregulation, crumbling infrastructure
Tariffs on steel & rail cars limits the ability to replace equip.
Inc. homelessness will impact safety b/c they become bedrooms
I was obviously too late. DFW suburb is the perfect setting for unnecessarily frightened white person. Shit gets real weird when you venture into the exurbs though...
I’ve never understood why a people (religious right) so obsessed with being reunited with god are so incredibly afraid of any activity that could marginally increase the odds of that happening.
Big men, hah! I’m a 75-year-old woman and I ride Seattle transit alone all the time, even at night. Confirms my long-held belief that conservatives as a whole are a fearful group.
Good luck getting a car now, will cost you your life savings and you’ll be in debt forever with Trumpy Economy. Walk it buddy walk it. Good for your health and bad for your knees, but go ahead.
My six-year-old daughter wasn't the least bit afraid of NYC subways - I thought the noise, dark tunnels, big rushing machines, and occasional crowds would scare her, but she's clearly tougher than Sean Duffy, and, besides, every grandma on the trains cooed at her
It helped that we gave him a ton of treats the first couple times we took him on the train. Also that there’s almost always a stranger who’ll fawn & give him a friendly ear scratch.
I'm 6'4", a proud conservative who voted for trump 11 or 12 times & I'm currently standing into an empty hot tub which is being filled by my stream of tears, as I shiver in mortal fear of public transportation.
I'm shaking nervously, trying to load my AK-47, squinting for unwashed foreigners...
Public transportation gets more safe as more people use it. Of course you can find bad incidents anywhere if you look hard enough, but there are far more deaths in car accidents than on public transportation.
Lead and wealth poisoning can result in heightened and irrational fears of "The Other" which greatly expands to not just those outside of ethnicity but also class.

and school.
Can't wait!
Liberals aren't in charge.
Do something!!!

Thanks!
Ghosts.
Pictures like this should come with a trigger warning, except trigger warnings are woke.
So obviously include one while not including one.
(sarcasm...?)
10/10 flawless execution
BTW we don’t have basements in Texas.
I have seen houses with this precise problem. On flood plains.
I was looking up the education stats which have always struck me as kinda remarkable about FloMo & learned that Nasher co-founded it as a new community project in '70.
Knowing that means this makes much more sense:
The greatest danger to trains will be crashes, cut backs to the NTSB, deregulation, crumbling infrastructure
Tariffs on steel & rail cars limits the ability to replace equip.
Inc. homelessness will impact safety b/c they become bedrooms
But ok it’s crime
Sean, just say mayor's and leave out liberal. You are sec for people of all.persuasions- even non-white people. Just take out the politics or RESIGN!

Most of us lived in the actual real world and relied on some form of public transportation since we were teenagers.
And yeah, it was sometimes scary. That's life.
