VINTAGE LUNCHBOX MEGATHREAD!
There is something deeply, nostalgic about the artwork on old lunchboxes. They meet at the crossroads of childhood, food, pop culture, & school/friends. Every day, for as long as I feel like, I'll be adding a new lunchbox to this thread!

My original from Elementary School is rusting in a landfill (it was a troops/toys carrier, improvised hammer or weapon, suffered innumerable drops+spills) so I replaced it twice over
I also love that early Thundercats art where everyone is wearing poo colored gear lol
I envy the Thundercats one but Dragon's Lair? WOW.
I rolled to Kindergarten in style. My twin brother had Heathcliff by Aladdin Industries 1982
My favorite so far is a Disco Fever from 1980, which I hope at least some wayward youngsters stashed their booger sugar in, and didn't get hassled about by the fuzz or the other kids.
When the store was out of Power Rangers, VR Troopers, and Big Bad Beetleborgs...
Check that sweet lenticular action!
The Chan Clan. (1973)
I lost the thermos but think I still have the lunch box somewhere.
I don’t remember the show now or how horribly it may have aged. But it imprinted on me.

Keye Luke (Kato, Master Po) as the voice of Charlie Chan - the first time that an Asian-American would play Charlie Chan - plus Jodie Foster (Anne Chan), Lennie Weinrib (Stanley Chan) and Don Messick (Chu-Chu)
in second grade a kid in an other class than mine got in a lot of trouble because of the thermos. one day at lunch, one of the very old lunch ladies thought it was a real warning label. she made a huge scene and took him to the office.
*[I don't know that he's done that specific one]

And not even a cartoon?!
Real people?

I would have been more likely to believe that was made up just to put on the lunchbox than it being a real show.
I have one of these bad boys, and yes I dropped it w/ glass lined Thermos inside.....
Boy, that didn’t age well.
A decade and a half later, I got an MST3K lunchbox when I was buying any MST3K merch I could get my hands on. Still have it (unused) in a box somewhere.
....any chance they still make something like those?
The REAL deal. Nothing else will do.
I would’ve preferred Penguin, but we just weren’t there yet as a culture.
(Sees results, sighs, closes browser window.)
Also my mom: buys me lunchbox with big ass Confederate flag thermos.
It never used to shut properly though so I used to carry it around in a plastic bag
Does yours come in "dude" or "hypersexual trans woman" flavor? You'll never guess mine 😂
“Dick jokes, nothing but dick jokes.”
Genuinely upset me when my parents “graduated” me to a plain purple insulated lunchbox like adults had.
There was a red sparkly Crest Sparkle lunchbox that I won in a spelling bee but the internet has turned up nothing in that regard.
I loved it.
I misplaced the little white cup, before school started and have pretty much been anxious about loosing an accessory item ever since.
the few lunchbox kids, the many regular-price kids, and the quiet reduced-price kids
I knew my parents loved me when I had a fresh lunch every morning. Then the lunches stopped coming.
I have loads of lunchboxes now. I especially love my Garf boxes
(I am sorry for your loss, but I am glad that you have your treasured memories.)
Not my picture, but I've seen them before. I don't have one because they cost hundreds of dollars if you want it complete and mostly not rusty.

The big feels energy just now remembering my first lunchbox!
Even anti-Barney humor is ridiculously dated, by 20+ years. So he would be this new odd looking thing.
Wasn't using it by middle school, so gran used it as a 'button box' and made sure it returned to me when she left us
I think you are old enough to remember these -
There were at least 3 in each classroom
Too lazy to get it out, here’s another:

This part also reminds me of a Robotech puzzle with this gorgeous painting but I can’t seem to find it.
I remember my Mork & Mindy being red.
I had this one too. (Clearly brand-loyal at a young age 🙃).
Spent a small fortune about 10 years ago getting a near perfect set together.
