Well I guess when you put it that way it really is lame as hell that that one dude did eleven backflips up the ramp with one of them being an enormous jump leaping out of the ring and landing on the floor, I'm glad you're here to bring the mood down for everyone like we deserve for being impressed
It's still a physical sport like boxing. And as people have pointed out, it's entertainment. When you start betting on fighters then it becomes a problem.
-sometimes- the fighting is fake. You ever get in like a "fake" fight with your best friend, where you were both kinda hitting hard to make it look convincing? Same principle
The wrestler that took the hit fell back first in the sharp corner of the metal box protecting the light on the floor. The one second delay before the pain hits and the fact that he fully breaks character putting his hand on his back instead of his head where he got hit is 100% genuine.
Sorry to break it to you but it's always been the same way even before wwwf. Ex. Classy Freddy Blassy. His gimmick biting opponents heads. That's not theatrics?
Well actually 🤓☝️when we say "wrestling is fake" we don't mean the athleticism on display or physical pain, we mean the outcome is predetermined and the story is not real. It's an athletic play.
It's moreso the IWC. Like there are moments when jericho can cause fatigue, especially with his age and his vibes can make people think he is just gonna be another Hogan. But people forget that Jericho has a special ability that makes him such a veteran. His ability to adapt
Like mahoraga, there will be moments of weakness, like the multiple moments of jericho fatigue, then he reinvents himself and becomes someone new. Like he went from plucky underdog to cocky asshole to "the guy with the list" to the painmaker to "the bubbly drinker" to the sports entertainer
to the learning tree and the thing is he can switch them back, like he can be the "corazon de leo" when needed, or the painmaker. Jericho's ability to adapt is unprecedented.
Additionally, there's also the issue of jericho's wife and her whereabouts on the 6th of jan 2021
That's NOT wrestling. That's justice. That guy DESERVED to get knock out. In fact, he should have gotten knocked out again. Now go find us something fake.
I resent the notion this may be in any way unrealistic. Do you not recall our nights out where we fled in terror from mask youths blackflipping towards us?
As someone with the name Shonen Otaku, you really should watch wrestling because it's just a live action Shonen Battle Tournament anime with rotating protagonists
if you are in US the easiest ways are:
AEW (Wed and Sat) - MAX Subscription or TNT/TBS Networks
NJPW - NJPWworld Subscription
TNA (Thur) - TNA+ Subscription/AXS Network
WWE - Netflix (specifically for RAW on Monday), USA network (Smackdown Fridays) or CW (NXT Tuesdays)
If you are outside the US (Or have a VPN):
AEW - TrillerTV (AEW+ subscription)
NJPW - Same as above
TNA - Same as above
WWE - Netflix for all shows on their respective day
There are also others like CMLL, RevPro, DDT, and NOAH and women only shows like STARDOM, MARIGOLD, and TJPW
Nothing about pro wrestling is fake. It just isn't a fight. The wrestlers are perfectly trained for a high stakes acrobatics show that looks and feels fightier than any real fight. Been there, done that, learned a three quarter somersault on the first day.
It’s actually pretty commonplace, it’s called the Sasuke Special, but usually you just flop onto one or (ideally) more opponents. To land as clean as he did and keep going is insane
Oh this is just the tip of the iceberg with what Ninja Mack can do. He can even do unscripted wrestling (known as shoot wrestling) and he legit knows some other martial arts!
Thanks to the camera cut it hides any stumble that Mack might have had when he landed on his feet outside. Then he can just keep on handspringing like he didn't even stop for a millisecond
Just another case of Nooj camerawork being really good.
I've started describing pro wrestling as a soap opera that revolves around gymnastics performed by weightlifters, and that has never been more true than in this clip
Yeah, dives are even riskier than they look. I have seen people brush the middle rope with their knee and it immediately kill their momentum so they suddenly start going face first down.
And the infamous spot in Shawn Michaels vs Undertaker where someone missed catching Taker...
And the flips were what John Belushi swore he could do in THE BLUES BROTHERS, but they used a stunt double instead because of the cost of the insurance.
You can't quite fake the long term damage of being dropped high angle on your neck and shoulders on to a wooden floor that only has an inch of foam padding and canvas. With or without a spring
Yep. They mostly learn how to look like they're dishing out horrifically fatal violence to each other while dishing out non-fatal violence.
That's why kayfabe is it's own kind of fake, separate from fake fake.
once some rowdy teens irish whipped me in the abandoned wrestling ring factory and I was running the ropes for days until someone heard my pathetic whimpers and mercifully clotheslined me
I was way too old when I learned that wrestlers don’t throw their opponents into the ropes - they throw their opponents. Their opponents running and/or bouncing off the ropes is a reversal of the throw.
I mean it's like theatrical fighting everyone's a character everyone has fake beef. The hits are real they just try not to go too hard but sometimes it's just part of the process. However that backflip is just pure skill I can't imagine how long it took him to Master it
Comments
That dude has done some ridiculous, outstanding stuff.
Just look at the end how the other guy waiting to be hit instead of taking any action
It’s just not a real fight
Doesn’t make it less impressive
And I’m sure they do get hurt.
I do think it’s impressive what they do. I just don’t think it’s a real fight like boxing
if you're talking about what happens in your head obsessing over what's real, you're too dumb to enjoy wrestling
my advice:
develop just an ounce of magnificance about you and learn to listen to your heart, and you will become smart enough
Why am I not watching AEW?
Additionally, there's also the issue of jericho's wife and her whereabouts on the 6th of jan 2021
I hadn’t heard that but about his wife 😕
I wish i had that kind of energy for everyday stuff like tidying my house…
Simone Biles!
Surprise, motherfuckahs!!
🙃😁🤷🏻♀️
It is an athletic performance art.
And there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. It's an honorable sport that goes back *centuries*.
But it *is* rigged.
Like gee, I wonder if the guy that's designated as the one that loses the fight is going to win or not.
It might be scripted, but there are no walls, and certainly not a 4th one.
• BRB experiencing vicarious back pain
A great show.
Fake or real
That's talent

NJPW is primarily in ring action focused
AEW a very good mix of story and in ring
WWE is heavier on the story and less about the in ring
TNA i honestly havent seen in long enough that I dont know how split it is on the story/in-ring balance anymore
Finish of the night
Just another case of Nooj camerawork being really good.
!= means not equal to
Easy! That is a Slinky under the mask. 😋
Good damn it, I'm going back into the wrestling rabbit hole because of this, aren't I?
And the infamous spot in Shawn Michaels vs Undertaker where someone missed catching Taker...
You can still end up in the hospital with Wrestling Fake.
That's why kayfabe is it's own kind of fake, separate from fake fake.
Pro wrestling is staged.
It’s most definitely not fake! It’s an athletic exhibition sport and no more faked than any other of that genre.
Calling pro-wrestling fake is like calling Synchronized Swimming or Snowboard Half-Pipe fake sports. They aren’t fake either!
Oh and it even extends around the ring, where we see the same lensing effect and 75k people becomes 100k people
