From 🇨🇦, 2 cats, baker. I recently moved to St. Louis for a new job. More on my move & me, at the link. https://blogs.umsl.edu/news/2024/11/11/jalene-lamontagne-new-des-lee-professor-in-botanical-studies/
I also like to post photos of landscapes I see on my adventures & life as a grad student!
You may (or may not!) have seen my work in various scientific publications, DOE & NSF physics projects, etc. I really enjoy working with researchers, making things that inspire curiosity or explain.

Mad to protect oceans
Welcome!
Ouch!!
So, I’m a fish biologist and curator of the fish collection in the California Academy of Sciences. My research is centered on ecology, evolution, conservation and taxonomy of coral reef fishes. Deep reefs are the next frontier.
My public history work is aimed towards conservation using stories and eel-related puns.
Eels were a big part of the diet in pre-modern England, & this affected the culture. People paid rent in eels; in 1200 there were more than 540,000 eels dues in rent every year. They show up in literature (Shakespeare mentions eels more than any other fish!), art, metaphor, toponyms, etc.
I'm alison (same handle as the other place).
When I'm not battling (and tracking) climate change-induced migraines, I'm working on climate and environmental policy in Canada... with diversions into forestry, ecology, and fires.
I think earnest posts and silly posts are both good.
Welcome all new folks to the friendly skies ☮️
My name is Kenn, I study the behaviour of sharks and rays 🦈 in Vigo Spain using a blend of methods #AcousticTelemetry, #BRUVs, #StableIsotopes and #Hormonal analysis 🎥🐟🧪
On the side, I love windsurfing and being outdoors🌊🏄♂️
I'm also passionate about getting undergrads involved in research and conservation from early on in their studies.
I focus on amplifying other research I find important, focusing on shark research & conservation science.
I'm also one of the moderators of @coralcitycamera.bsky.social, which everyone should subscribe to

And welcome New-skyers!
I’m Travis and I study & work in ecosystem restoration, species conservation, and mitigating climate change by building native plant community resilience.
I promote all things ecology & restoration w/ focus on the rising generation.
Thanks for starting this 🧵!

I'm finishing up my PhD looking at how wetland birds use human-made landscapes in Atlantic Canada.
My research interests are conservation, bioacoustics, birds, and more recently, socioecological science.
Also, eBird reviewer, Big Sister, VP of WildResearch, aspiring curler...😊

I'm a government scientist with Fisheries and Oceans Canada in Moncton, NB, Canada. Our lab studies shellfish ecology, fisheries and aquaculture, usually in the context of climate change, focusing on bivalves 🧪🦪🌊

So I don't have a science background but I will be following.
Hey all. New to bluesky. I'm a paleoevolutionary biologist and secondary school science teacher from the UK
Nice to see a genuine science page with actual scientists and educators. 🤘
I’m Scott, an evolutionary biologist, university professor, and science communicator. I try to share my knowledge and passion for nature and science as broadly as possible. I write, speak, and broadcast science content on a bunch of different platforms.
It’s great to connect with you!
I'm Ryan. UK naturalist & wildlife & conservation podcaster (Into The Wild - https://linktr.ee/intothewildpod) monthly shows where we unpack big nature based topics!
ALSO made an award winning film (Beyond The Trigger available on YouTube).
I use computer simulations to study the physics of earthquakes, from what the faults are doing to how hard it might shake.
I also post a lot about volcanoes, being a professor, and my cats.
Here's some more about me: https://www.seismosoc.org/news/at-work-julian-lozos/
I have a special interest in large carnivore ecology, mainly wolves 🐺
So happy to see so many inspiring scientists on here 🩷

I’m Raphaella So, a biochemistry PhD candidate at the University of Toronto (Canada)
I study Parkinson’s and related neurodegenerative diseases, and how differently shaped protein aggregates in disease pathology can wreak havoc in different ways (in mice)
Nice to meet you! 🧪
Any books you’d recommend that would be decipherable by a layperson? (Though I do have an undergrad degree in geology fwiw)
I think a lot about good pedagogy, mentorship, and inclusion.
I'm passionate about education, #scicomm, and engaging diverse people in STEM by encouraging curiosity! https://providencepollinators.com/
I have a canine shadow “Tattie”, she is great at finding flapper skate eggcases along the shoreline! Concurrently i am a project manager for a non-profit with a focus on marine litter

I do a lot of genomics comparing bird and mammal utricles, while there's another wing of the lab exploring mosquito mating which heavily relies on hearing.
I'm Caro, a PhD student working with wild Guinea baboons. I study mate competition and social relationships between females.

I use natural language processing to study the impacts of ecosystem-based climate solutions on people and nature.
I post about AI and ML methods for computational sustainability, and also cute photos of my dog
I post about these things but more about other things.
More people should present their study organism dressed as them. I once gave a Halloween progress report in a handmade mosquito mask (photo courtesy of @mosquitohunting.bsky.social) 🦟
