Strongly agree. Or even a vision of utopia! The opposite of doom! What does success, and a bright future look like?

Something in this ... if social democrats want to win the culture war, they need to start offering something big and weird and maybe even kinda mental when it comes to how they talk about the future

Any version of utopia that works for any black, immigrant, Muslim, or queer people will be rejected in exchange for any version of hell that only has straight, white, Christians in it.
It’s time for The Fifth Paradigm, which is the subject and title of my last book.
My current writing project goes even deeper.
Check it out!
Occam’s razor. Americans are the vile mob, just looking for a distraction from their miserable lives.
If it involves someone else being even more miserable, more the better.

Can Global Warming be the "biggest battle in human history" and "you have a chance to save this amazing world for all of future mankind" be a rallying cry?
"Let's hire Brazil to be global park rangers"? Big enough? Crazy enough?
Is that our moonshot?

Push the fuck back
That's what wins elections.
Triple down on the class war. Point at billionaire Republicans who want more and more and more. Name these people over and over again. Villainize them. Should be easy. Because they are villains.
No more finger pointing. Own it.

Sadly Trump & Musk are going to give us a very good reason to be terrified soon enough.

all the normal good things that other countries have we can't seem to get. But people do love free money
At least when it comes to politics, people will vote AGAINST an enemy, rather than the promise of well being.
Do you think Americans would go for nationalising electricity?
Sunlight is the best disinfectant.
Here’s a thought:
Every person out there with a cell phone and a podcast is, in effect, a local newsfeed. Could video/record and publish: school board meetings, chamber of commerce meetings, PTA meetings, etc

(Or Canada. We have free healthcare as well, one of the things we'd 𝘭𝘰𝘴𝘦 if we became part of America.)

So many problems obviously demand collective action, which is so obviously in the interests of the overwhelming majority of people in this country and on this planet. Seems like it might have some appeal.
the US still believes “the greed is good” bs circa 1980
Americans don't have universal healthcare, childcare, PFL, etc... because they don't want it.
But overall, it all seems too highbrow to be truly successful.
Universal healthcare
Universal healthcare
National highspeed rail
Universal healthcare
That’s literally utopia
People voted for Trump because they're getting crushed with high costs and he claimed he could bring prices down.
You want to win? Ditch the culture wars and focus on policies that move voters on both sides of the aisle. Such as:
1/2
2) reigning in billionaires/raising taxes on the uber-wealthy and corporations
3) term limits for Congress and SCOTUS
4) expanding Medicare, Medicaid, Obamacare (Medicare for all)
Keep it simple stupid.
"They all make big promises, nothing will change"
I hear this from my YA kids. They feel the world/community won't be better bc of the climate crisis & it's effects.
I wanted to conquer the world at 21. They just want the world to survive.
Longevity and AI.
Bring it on!
I’ve seen fellow community members literally call bike safety infrastructure a big communist conspiracy.

National Cafeterias/automats.
National library system.
National Uber/taxis.
National Gyms.
National performance space/art and music venues.

High Speed Rail and air travel.
All staffed by paid workers and protected from reactionary sabotage.
If it was a sure-fire winner Bernie would’ve won.
SHE did. Maybe not bleachers far but definitely the same vibe.
And here we are.
Elections have consequences. If you weren't paying attention, it's time to enjoy the ride.
The correct message now should be "RAGE & REBEL AGAINST THE SPOILED RICH F**KERS."
Less homogeneous
Less workloaded
Better economy

Clean cities
Access to very affordable health care
Efficient mass transit
And good education

When was the last time the left side of the spectrum picked a culture war fight? We should do that. A lot.
It pissed off the Warrenites when Bernie just refused to say detail the payment for M4A but that seems to be the way.
Scale up the military so that taxpayer also get 100% taxpayer funded work/life benefits Dept of Defense employees & their families get.

Nobody actually needs a billion dollars
The others you listed aren't a vision for the future, they're ideas of how to achieve some undescribed future, and most people have ~no imagination
And no one is saying to do something bold, just to communicate a bold vision, which is a different thing from all the stuff you said.
Just aspire to be a better person every single day in order to achieve the true prosperity that you deserve. It is time for all of you to be the architects of your own success: https://youtu.be/urllxmNZxOs?si=AofvycrHXymp56mi
1. 100% Public campaign financing and no PACs or lobbying or $ to judges
2. Radical transparency (anti-corruption)
3. End drug war & enforce antitrust
4. Real civilian oversight of all law enforcement departments (no oversight, no funding)
Socialism would be pretty great, ngl!
A judicial system that works for all, not just the wealthy.
Universal health care.
A completely reimagined law enforcement system.
Priority funding for social support systems.
Fully funded school systems.
The Equal Rights Amendment.
It's a start.
Renewable sources of energy becoming our primary ones.
Taxation that makes wealth hoarding far more difficult, if not impossible.
Societal shift toward recognition, respect, & resourcing for all public servants, not just LEOs & the military.
More comprehensive environmental conservation.

Freedom and safety of the people

The issue of course is convincing the millions of people who are indoctrinated to think otherwise.
Anxiety about affording healthcare, college, and housing underlies everything else, like "expensive eggs." The failure to address these Big Things is why the Democrats lost and will continue to lose.
