The most maddening aspect of the campaign was that
A) The high cost of living was clearly the number one issue for voters, particularly persuadable voters
B) Trump was running on an explicit set of promises to raise everyone’s prices.
C) this somehow never got through
Now here we are!

Subtlety is overrated.
A good first step would be to start calling the Trump regime what it is:
an autocratic *Russian puppet regime.*

But..
America is ready for a white president, an African American (Obama), a liar/thief/criminal (Trump), an adult (Biden), but not for a woman (Clinton, Harris).
With all similarities in policies, Biden received 81M votes, Harris 74M.
7M Democrats! don't want a woman president.
Some folks are lucky enough to work on a vinyard or as a professional surfer or whatever. On their down time, they spend quality time with their loved ones and doing hobbies they enjoy.
Or, more likely, that plus a huge amount of paid conservative propaganda.
It's asymmetrical warfare, they know it, and no one is opposing it in an effective way.
And then you have "elite" journalistic organizations engaging in propaganda on behalf of their rich/corporate owners.
Maybe it has something to do with the fact that the billionaire CEOs who control the apps/algorithms/legacy media outlets where most voters get most of their information were up there on stage at inauguration celebrating with Trump/Elon as they took over the government
and change the reporting back to fact based, not opinion or followers based, sensationalism.
So have we learned enough to make sure we don't end up like Germany, Russia & North Korea?
By the way, the food came from the clubhouse kitchen.
A real man of the people.
No, there's no "somehow" about it, but we get it: Zombie Fourth Estate and its zombie minions will never ever ever come close to grappling with their failures and blameworthiness for their tacit complicity and collaboration with the KKKristofascists.
Trumps agenda is for large corporations and wealthy
If you aren’t one of these you’re shit out of luck!
Many are just stupid and/or decided that racism wasn't a deal breaker.
It's an eye opener
I think we all know how. The people who own the media didn't want another person of color as President, that's how.
He is lame duck, and he has no allegiance to anyone but his own grift
In the meantime, my 401K is tanking thanks to the market that get spooked every week. Now a Trumpcession is just around the corner and more misery.
I hope MAGA Bubba is happy now.
That's how it never got through.
He and his wife seem like good people.
Your nation / the world is going to need something SPECIAL.
There will ALWAYS be the #ClassWar otherwise.
Let’s start with getting 1/3 of the nation facts and then we can talk about the class warfare.
Folk somewhere will have said that about Trump and wife #1, #2 once upon a time...
"Rupert" dying ... will that fix the truth social problem and the X problem???
1) "owning the libs", 2) "fix Biden's economy", 3) make them rich, "so much money you can't spend it all."
Rationality had nothing to do with it, only the explicit permission to be bigots without consequence. And that is apparently priceless.
Figure out how to break through that fog. Start by admitting the problem exists
Hmmm… Trying to think… Any ideas?
Looking even further back, campaigns used 'economic grievances' as a cover for a number of sins.
How about THIS problem with the campaign:
MEDIA.
The FUCKING MEDIA, Chris.
I don't think I need to say more there.
Also:
Do you REALLY want to say racism and misogyny weren't the BIGGEST factors? Trump CAMPAIGNED ON RACISM. Sometimes covert, sometimes right out there.
Jeez...
1) Greed (rich people wanted to save on taxes)
2) Racist people that loved that he hated who they hated and they no longer have to wear hoods (but would say when asked it was egg prices).
My point is that it is not fair to act like it was always a clear binary choice between good vs racism/greed. Saying so impedes efforts to open their eyes. 4/4
Sorry but we know how. The "profession" to which you are a member
Nancy lied.
He knows it.
Now the reality bites some of them, but they can't face the truth of their catastrophic choice, so now the country, Pax Americana and Ukraine pay the price. RUS/CHN celebrate
Maybe ignorance of basic things like tariffs, and certainly a failure of the press to directly confront lies in a clear fashion.
But there's another factor, I think...
they're still frustrated and just wanted SOMEONE to do SOMETHING. Democrats could learn something about messaging from it.
Just hatred. Republicans are very bad people and they voted for trump because they wanted to hurt as many people as possible.
Thats all any of this has ever been about.
Sortition is a better system anyhow!
We need to abolish the electoral college! Candidates need over 50% of popular vote to become a president, not 49%!
Meanwhile MSM repeated every story that economy was bad & it was Kamala's fault- giving little coverage to Biden/Harris wins, then covered many T Rallies & repeated lies.
Every member of admin on that group chat knowingly broke federal law & endangered national security
Tariffs & wrecking govt agencies harms citizens
US now a pariah state
DOGE has no legitimacy
EO ≠ law
Media get off your duff!
Maybe ask your colleagues in the media why it didn't, Chris! Or maybe the "progressives" you suck up to!
From a party whose voters show up with Nazi and Confederate flags?
You covering for that is part of the problem.
The tariffs weren’t a secret surprise. Trump *promised* tariffs. And during the September debate, Harris clearly explained that tariffs are a tax on consumers
The 2024 election was not a test for Kamala Harris to pass. It was a test for the voters to pass
And they flunked it.
The problem with that critique is that Trump was running for a SECOND term. The voters already experienced his first term: it was a dumpster fire!
There’s simply no excuse for any voter to want 4 more years of that dumpster fire.
My dad had to go to his chemo appointments alone because Trump mangled a pandemic. Now, he's destroyed cancer research.
People chose death and destruction.
Trump ran as Santa Claus - especially to MAGAts, promising everything Day 1
The number one issue was the majority of voters did not want to vote for an overqualified black woman with a joyful laugh.
They’d rather have a rapist felon - as long as he’s white.
Either that, or Trump cheated.
It was deliberately suppressed, both-sided, sanewashed, etc.

Those that did understand policy (even basic level) believed he wouldn’t implement his most dramatic campaign promises (e.g., Tariffs). Obvi not all voters but a good %
B) 🍊🤡 ran on a set of promises to address every deep seated grievance of MAGA, along with promises (tarriffs) that might raise prices but would also “stick it” to somebody and were seen as America first.
C) 🍊🤡 wiped out DEI in days, to the delight of MAGA, and here we are.
The NYTimes did a catch and kill of its own scoop!
CBS said deportations were a housing plan!
Millions of people would have been persuaded to vote if she had said "I won't give Israel more weapons." Which wasn't a hard thing to do.
In fairness, recessions do lower prices!

Education, informed elites whose wealth is directly tied to policy outcomes like these: You know I think the whole tariff thing is just a bit, he's not gonna do it, it's fine. Let's get rid of Lina Khan
Yes, even the negative coverage was insanely favorable. Almost everything was much, much worse than even negative coverage presented.
How credulous do you have to be?
This approach, nuking the Democratic Party's credibility undermined making the negative case against Trump.
That energy hit reality hard in the election.
Make America White Again
..and if an election were held today.. they would still vote for him
Whatever you and Beltway Pundits believe about the economy is your "inside" baseball.
DonnieDumbFuck spoke to the hearts of his people, and they listened.
B) Dems need to not be afraid to call a Nazi a Nazi and a Fascist a Fascist.
C) Dems need to understand that times have changed and the way campaigns are won has changed too. Quit pretending it's still the 20th century.
"If the Democrats held a press conference and the media did not report it or lied about it, did the Democrats say anything at all?"
Sure.
Also notable that the press painted Biden’s kick ass economy as troubled over and over giving life to trump’s transparent lies about fixing things.
The reality is they would not vote for a woman, particularly a black woman.
HE WAS RUNNING ON LIES!!!!!!
JUST FUCKING SAY IT!!!!!!!!

The Republicans are doing a surprisingly impressive job winning POC votes:
https://www.nytimes.com/2024/11/06/us/politics/donald-trump-2024-campaign-coalition.html
POC voters are converging with white voters - and, as compared to 2020, this convergence is what won the 2024 vote.
And when people turn out Dems win
Better off getting folks out to vote.
