90% of "serious" American punditry is lying about what Democrats are saying, then telling them to do what they're already doing.

Totally unpredictable that this would happen.
I can't imagine Democrats ever saying anything like that now.
I've yet to hear an argument against unrestricted immigration that wasn't some variant of Replacement Theory or "America is too weak to help people!" Yet it's a bipartisan claim.
People who write stuff like this aren’t supposed interested in legitimate criticism.

Is it too much to ask that professional political commentators know basic facts about the two parties' stance on this issue?
Yes
Because if 90% of pundits were honest about what democrats were doing, then 90% of pundits would have to find fault with one side, rather than both.
Yes
You saving that for your substack?
"Substack!? Heavens no, you heathen! I'm a pure blogger from the days of yore before paywalls and microblogs turned our internet paradise into a desert!
Come to an oasis that's survived 20 years and a Bush Administration at https://driftglass.blogspot.com/ !"
If 90% of pundits squint hard enough, they can perceive a 50-50 world.

You can answer that question by answering this one: Which of the three highlighted principles do not require a major shift in ACTUAL (not preferred, but de-facto) policy to be fully realized?
(How many voters even remember who Boehner is or recognize his name?)

Boehner has expressed almost glee at quitting and has since spoken derisively about the far-right GOP flank, but when he was in a position of great power, he let them bully him
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/powerpost/wp/2015/09/25/boehner-resigns/
It passed with a large majority in the senate yet never came to a vote in the House bc Boehner capitulated to the right flank of his own caucus
(Again, how many ppl understand the Speaker’s agenda-setting powers?)
I believe it’s true there were more people deported during both the Obama and Biden administrations than during the Trump administration
It so hard to get at the truth
The system however has been a cluster Duck &Rs insistence on not passing any reform has been the biggest problem
Dems are trying to address the problem with solutions while also utilizing the system as is following the law
Was talking with a friend who voted Democratic but lamented that Biden “let in so many immigrants” and It’s so frustrating that she’s buying into the right wing frame
Immigration and economic policies were just out right ignores until two weeks after the election

For most of history, nobody had even a reasonable census of residents, let alone a good documentation system.
but who cares
national emergency invasion
Its the kind of crap that, a decade ago, would have resulted in resignations from the Board. But apparently there is no one left at the TImes with integrity....
