“When I’m feeling lazy, which is most of the time”- sir, you are my spirit animal😉 I generally make a big vat of stuffed pepper soup and a crockpot of pinto beans/ham, freeze it for meals throughout a 2-3 week period. I rarely eat at restaurants. Lost 20lbs in a 6 month period, brought my A1C down.
Try to cut out all processed foods which is a little difficult!
I stopped eating processed meat & lost weight I wasn’t trying to lose & I eat very little red meat… maybe a hamburger once a month & that’s about it!
Love it… where’d you get the motivation? Honestly don’t like to cook, but doing it all at once would help!! Thanks for vid. Will think about you when I try 👍
So much better for you.
Most processed foods have so much sugar in them and you can't even taste it really.
I make baked oatmeal, 12 servings and I wrap it in parchment paper put most in the freezer, take them out and nuke them for 2 minutes if they're frozen, easy breakfast.
Doing much better than me! Congrats! I would only suggest, as others, taking the food out of the plastic and then defrosting/ heating. I’m not a cook, but still concerned about processed food etc.
I’ve not felt like cooking in years until just recently. I’m wanting and needing to stop eating junk and, like you, I don’t feel like cooking often. Thanks for sharing!
Love your freezer. I feel like people would be able to eat better if everyone had access to a much better freezer. I rent and my freezer is smaller than a typical beach cooler.
Thanks! You've given me some ideas. I hadn't thought about doing up my own fries. I keep thinking about breakfast burritos. Maybe that will be this weekend.
You're awesome! I need someone like you😁😉. H1N1, the forgotten pandemic, damaged all my major organs, gave me strokes, & made me a multiple amputee. My kiddo's my Caregiver, but I used to be the cook. Getting rid of processed is a must. Also, palm oil's bad one for me. It's in lots of foods. Yuck!
I lost about 50 over less than a year by not eating sugar or most processed food. My joints stopped hurting and exercize became easier after a while. I'll never go back.
i cut soda a while back and now i can't even go though half of a can, sugar is suddenly VERY strong to me when it's a lot and i feel much better cuz of it
Good for you! In July, my doctor put me on Adderall for my ADD, and reduced my Cymbalta dose by half. I no longer crave sweets. I've lost 40 lbs (and counting). Better living through chemistry. Each weight loss journey is unique.
any amount of explicit focus on food is proven to be effective for weight loss. if you are implying that processed foods are uniquely bad, i think it's more likely that processed foods are simply tasty and calorie-rich, and eliminating them means you eat less.
I have Crohn's, preservatives are bad for me as well but the weight loss was also amazing. Dropped easy 40lbs over a year. Recently dropped all alcohol including beer, dropped more. Stable ~155lb now, next up the gym over the winter. but eating healthy has benefits, just can be costly for some.
I feel this in my bones. 😆
things I REFUSE to give up
1. Bacon (come at me, IDGAF, bacon is life affirming)
2. Wine/beer/whiskey (life is too short to not be tipsy just for the fun of it)
3. Everything else I feel like doing, I'm an adult, I can do whatever I want. 😆 🤣
Same! A lot is being careful with diet. Best advice I ever got when first diagnosed decades ago was keep a journal of your food and irritation level. Moderation is key for maintaining. I had a minor flare up last year and did the very limited diet (no fiber, caffeine, etc) for 6 months last year
I LOVE my hot sauce... I still have the "One Chip Challenge" box with the chip sealed from last year.... I went to the Brooklyn Hot Sauce Expo every year for 5yrs... It was worth it.. but the chip, still pondering...
These are industrial formulations made mostly or completely from substances (oil, fat, sugar, starch, and protein) extracted from food or derived from hydrogenated fats or modified starches.
They can also be synthesized in laboratories with flavor enhancers, colors, and additives to make them highly palatable. These typically have five or more (usually many more) ingredients.
Examples include sweetened and flavored yogurts; breakfast cereals and bars; cola, energy, and sports drinks; pastries, cakes, cookies, and cake mixes; AND...
instant soups; ice cream and frozen desserts; packaged breads, hamburger, and hot dog buns; and pre-prepared pizzas, pasta, hamburgers, sausages, chicken nuggets, and fish sticks.
Group 1 foods are a small proportion of or even absent from ultra processed products.
The authors of the BMJ study note that the NOVA classification system for UPFs could be improved as it is complex, and some items may be misclassified.
Aw really ? I`m waiting for the pun or the shit you gringos normally want to start selling after confessing to a lifesty change ......(pun intended love your shit)
Good job. I’m still working on cutting out processed foods.
I find it amazing how one small life change can affect your body so quickly. I started playing games on VR (primarily Beat Saber). Three months later I’m 30 pounds lighter. From playing games!
Ooh I’m not sure if I have! I’ve never used them for things like that. Just for playing games! I’m really enjoying it so far! You can have it fully immersive or mixed so it involves your surroundings. That’s pretty amazing to be fair!
Agreed. It’s been so much fun playing in VR. I’ve gone into the Metaverse about 3 times. It’s not as much fun as Second Life, but I’m still willing to give it a chance. Mostly I’m just enjoying playing games like Beat Saber with VR. It’s a great addition to my life.
Your body thanks you. How about sodas? If you drink those, do you think you can omit those too? Water is a healthy person’s best friend. Congratulations on your major accomplishment!!!
If you need any cooking tips, just ask.
A few years ago I lost 40 pounds & have kept it off since by eating in small portions often early in the day & not eating anything after 4 PM. I eat whatever I want though. My stomach shrank I guess because I am not hungry after a few bites,no matter what I'm eating. Pizza nachos hamburgers! No gain!
It’s wonderful. I wouldn’t have called myself fat before, but I want to be very lean. I have motivation. It’s called back pain. Less pressure on the joints.
I almost died in May from acute cardiogenic shock and heart failure. Spent three weeks in two hospitals. I even got to fly on a med flight helicopter to Boston, and I just got a pacemaker/defibrillator inserted in my chest. Motivation indeed!
I did that and limited sugar and dropped 70 pounds in 6 months, making really no other changes. I eat like a horse but I cook from fresh and enjoy food so much more. Good luck on your journey.
A year ago I cut beer out of my diet and I lost 25 lbs without changing anything else in my life. I was so boring though that I started drinking beer again and I have only put back 10 lbs. I can live with that.
It’s not the lack of processed goods that took off the weight, it’s all the extra exercise you get turning unprocessed foods into edible foodstuffs that did it.
I’m pretty sure kneading bread and pasta are aerobic activities. :)
I did the same thing 3 years ago. Also eliminated all soy, processed sugar, dairy, & wheat. I lost 8 lbs of fluid in my lymphatic system in the first 2 weeks, total loss incl all inflammation 30 lbs in 4 months. The weight has stayed off too!
Well done! As of October 2023 I cuz carbs and added protein…oh, and ate like a reasonable human being. I’ve lost a total of 100 pounds with 25 more to go to get to my healthy bmi. Added cardio, weights and core work at 75 pounds down. If this 62 y.o. can do it, anyone can!
It depends on how far you want to go. If you cut a carrot it's processed. It's the ultra processed you really need to avoid. I'd you can't recognise what it comes from, don't eat it! 😉 homemade bread containing whole grains is no prob. Make your own sourdough starter too, and you're good to go👍
Bread is very processed: from the grain being reapt, the yeast being grown, the baking, all the way to the slicing. It is far from the original state of anything.
I'm glad I could give you this today, and I am also angry and disappointed that the diet industry has been lying about something that should be nourishing us.
Years ago read a study, mice fed rice of equal weight. One group got regular rice. Other group got puffed rice (Rice Krispies.) Rice Krispies mice got fatter. Highly processed foods make more calories available to be processed by YOU.
I had to cut red meat out of my diet unfortunately. But I also started eating a lot less processed foods, more fruits / vegetables, and more fibre. Added in some modest exercise (bike riding daily, now that it's colder just walking and some calesthetics) I'm down 32 pounds after nearly 3 months.
Yeah, the hardest kind to dump. I need to. I have lost about 20 this year just skipping a lot of breakfasts, but winter lethargy and the holidays make everything harder.
Hey, quick question, what brand of tortillas do you use? I watched your video, and I too use a lot of tortillas in my food :) I personally love Mission tortillas, but if there's a better alternative, I'd love to hear!
One year ago my wife and I cut out processed food, bread and sugar and still eating like kings and queens bc my wife is an excellent cook and substitutes real sugar with the many options of sugar substitutes. Her sweets are still sweet and we each lost 80 pounds!
You have “Science rocks!” in your bio but you are arguing that bread made with preservatives, added sugar, and ultra processed flour is just as healthy or unhealthy as bread made at home with whole wheat flour. Something’s wrong here.
That processed crap will kill you. That and sugar. I watched a YT video with Dr Seyfried last night which was very informative on the effects of sugar on the body. With all the HFCS put in everything, it really seems like it’s a huge factor in causing cancer.
I'd add sodium to your list too. My husband and I went low sodium a few years ago to stay off of high blood pressure meds.
Not only did our blood pressure go down but we lost weight too.
Awesome work! I have been cutting out bottled fruit juices and replacing them with fruit and/or herb infused water. My energy levels have been more consistent since the switch. Good diet and moderate exercise can make a huge difference.
I did that and went vegetarian (98%😂) I call it “flexitarian”. Went from 188 to 164 in 6 months and have stayed there for 4 years. Turns out too much red meat and processed food ain’t good for me! Ps the meat lobby is very powerful.
No they aren’t.
But the agency capture of USDA/FDA heavily subsidizes growing of livestock feed.
No subsidies for Human Feed.
Healthcare, Chemical & Processed Foods lobbyists are profitably destroying our nations health by using Gov against us.
Frozen vegetables are often better than fresh vegetables because they are usually frozen very soon after harvest. Frozen berries are often much more affordable than fresh berries. And berries are very low-calorie and very nutritious.
Vegetables start to lose their nutrients as soon as they’re picked, so if they travel to the supermarket they’re really not that fresh any more. But if they’re blanched and frozen as soon as they’re picked, you don’t lose the nutritional value. I grow my own and freeze.
U agree with this sentiment frozen veggies are a great way to make a perfect soup or salad recently I started making soup out of frozen vegetables and it’s amazing I couldn’t eat them but now I’m so happy as we get older our bodies can’t digest some things but having liquid soup is very satisfying
I’m more concerned about the calories and then most of them are very low calories imagine a bag of frozen veggies has 50 calories you can literally use the whole bag and not have to worry because your body will burn it out by the end of the day when you go to sleep and wake up refreshing energized
Frozen veggies are ok, but a lot of frozen snack foods (fish sticks, pizza rolls) are loaded with preservatives etc. that are not great when constantly consumed
Frozen foods are just fine because they are picked when they are ripe. Because they are to be immediately frozen unlike picked and then shipped. This only stands for fruit and veggies, NOT processed dinners. Stay away from canned as a lot of salt and sugar. As well as just plain mushy🤮
Actually frozen vegetables can be the most nutrient-dense version of vegetables and there's lots availible. Just read nutrition labels passionately and be cautious of ones with added sauces and seasonings. Birds Eye makes a line with Dash sodium free seasonings if you need that.
Change all regular milk to oatmilk and see some more disappear!
(For coffee I recommend the 3% even if you were used to very to zero fat milk earlier.
Trust me 😅 )
Well done. I need to lose my recovery weight. I used to get at least 4 hours of serious exercise every day, in prepartion of the ski season. I got hit by a car and my knee was pulverized in September. I am just now walking this week and hope to get to the gym to swim and ride a bike...gently.
Well done!. I started doing that on July 1st. Cut out simple, processed carbs, like wheat flour, white rice, pasta bread & sugar, eating only unprocessed foods and I've lost 44lb so far, 6lb to go to my ideal weight ...
Wow! Congrats! I try and I should do better. I avoid processed meats…like mostly pepperoni on pizza and lunch meats. When I do eat a processed meat, I can tell. My body has an arthritic response and I’m stiff and move like the tin man. Ugh!
I don’t go to a general practitioner, but once a year, I have to see my endocrinologist. Last July was my last appointment and he got on my case that I lost 15 pounds in a year. I’m not exactly underweight, but isn’t weight loss a good thing? I just don’t eat too much. BMI is around 24.
We’ve been on a “clean” diet for years (excluding my G&Ts 😊) and I can tell. We’ve both lost weight and feel better. Shop the produce, dairy and meat aisles almost exclusively.
We bake our own bread.

You might at some point consider adding Chinese medicine into your program, but cutting out junk is a fantastic step in the right direction!
This is a good blog post that illuminates why Chinese medicine can be so good for gut health:
Are you able to reuse the bags, or cook in them?
I am so proud of what you have been doing for yourself and how!
You are inspiring. 🫂
What size did you get?
Delicious, isn't it?
😄
Worked for me.
Eat plenty but weight stays off.
From a lifelong chubster!
(But really, congrats. That is an awesome achievement!)

Keep going man 💪

Ain't it grand?!
Watch what happens.
I found when I cut processed food my calories dropped dramatically.
Idk WHY a burger from McDonald's has more calories than a burger at home but it just does!
The alternative could be that it takes about half the calories to digest processed foods.
I’m pretty sure kneading bread and pasta are aerobic activities. :)
Lost 30 pounds
Took a year, but...
It’s from the pounding, kneading, stirring and sautéing primary foods. So much exercise.
It’s from staring mournfully at the kitchen cupboards hoping something edible, salty and fatty will pop out. Restraint.
Congratulations!
Not only did our blood pressure go down but we lost weight too.
I just found other videos you've made on YouTube.
You should advertise them here. Much more positive response, I'm sure.
I never promoted my work on Xhitter. Too dangerous.
What about carbs? Are they still in your diet? Curious. 👀
The only thing RFK Jr is right about and nobody will believe it cause he’s wrong about EVERYTHING else.

What mystical habitat do you call home?!?
Seriously, I want to go to there…
I'm talking more about canned soups, frozen dinners, and so on.
canned can be ok if its not loaded with sa;t ( which most is0

Real food is the only way to go.
Ideally, organic.

Once I lost 150 pounds in 1 year.
Each time I gain it all back.
How to keep it off
You ate a certain way that made you fat.
Then you ate a different way that made you thinner.
Then you went back to the way that made you fat.
And you blame the way that made you thinner?
Good job, keep it up.
What were some of your favorite go to processed foods??
