(my typical at home breakfast is: 8 ounces of nonfat greek yogurt, 4 ounces of sliced strawberries, 1 ounce of salted virginia peanuts, a drizzle of local honey)
My typical breakfast is oatmeal with blueberries and walnuts and sprinkled with ground flaxseed. I eat it while thinking about a sausage biscuit with egg and cheese and a hash brown patty that you put inside the sandwich if no one is looking.
years ago you tweeted about dark bread toasted w a schmear of Greek yogurt, fried egg, smoked paprika and sea salt and I still make that a couple times a week
If you are looking for recs - add some hemp hearts, ground flax, and chia seeds to the yoghurt ... let rest in refrigerator for 15 minutes to let the chia seeds expand. + protein, + taste - also, Fage 2% or 5% or Cabot 10% if you decide to boldly take a stranger's suggestions.
Based on your endorsement if Bob's Red Mill and dietary fiber, I took to a quarter cup of their steel cut oats every morning. Has helped bring down my A1c.
May I ask, why nonfat yogurt? My go-to is like yours, granola and blueberries and Greek yogurt. For a couple weeks I bought nonfat by accident & figured it out when I was ravenously hungry for lunch a couple hours too early.
well, my typical breakfast gives me something like 30 grams of protein and 8 grams of fiber, with a minimal amount of saturated fat and cholesterol. hard to beat!
They're even better when microwaved for 12-15 seconds. Not a terrible food item; it's just a muffin, egg, cheese and what for al intents and purposes is just a piece of ham masquerading as Canadian bacon.
Greek yogurt, berries (straw or blue, whichever I have) and a couple tablespoons of the original Kashi cereal for crunch and extra protein. But I like the peanut idea. Hm.
You introduced me to Virginia peanuts and for this I shall be forever in your debt. If there's something better than Whitley's I'd love to know, cuz that shit is beyond ridic
Absolutely 💯%true story; I once tried to give my dog a bite of one, he wouldn’t take it, so I put it on the floor so he could check it out. He lifted his leg on it and I haven’t eaten one since.
I had a couple of egg mcmuffins for the first time yesterday in ... years? I don't know if the recipe is any different here in Sweden, but it was really quite good. The timing rarely works out for me to hit up mcd when I head to my office at the university, but if I get the chance to again ...
No, it works. Desecration of a sacred space (a real breakfast sandwich) with something feeding the larger propaganda narrative (a McD’s product). Mount Rushmore.
I respect your McMuffin choice but I have to back the sausage egg McMuffin.
Years ago I had the basic version and in one bite pulled the whole Canadian bacon slice out of the sandwich. It made a mess I just haven’t recovered from.
Bro I can make you a tastier egg McMuffin. Please don't support that clown company anymore. Sincerely, a dude who has loved them thangs since they was still 2 for $2
Really like an egg McMuffin without the bacon but found the Dunkin’ Donuts eggs, cheese, turkey sausage on a croissant & that took #1. HOWEVER, I’m boycotting both MCDs & Dunkin’🍩✊🏽
It was op when it was under $2.99
Went to get one last week and our local McDonald's had it for $6.49 a sandwich.. and then my egg was dried and the ham was too small for the sandwich... I am still sad about my sad experience 😭
Gonna be there next week to visit my folks, and already have my Posa’s order ready. Chorizo with red. My stomach may hate me, but a small price to pay.
I love making them at home, add some caramelized onions, extra cheese, an over easy egg, and the sourdough English muffins. You also halve the price that way too but I suppose if you’re only eating them once a month instead of once a week like myself probably cheaper to get the McMuffin
Because McDonald’s donates to Trump, I will never spend a dime there, and I would love it if others would do a boycott of them as well. Eff egg mcmuffins.
McDonald’s breakfast is so good that everyone inevitably tried to copy them and now I can’t get a Crunchwrap supreme at the end of my 10 hour shift at 9am 😔
Outside of something homemade, I refuse to believe there is *anything* out there that tops a nice sausage egg and cheese McMuffin. They’re even better at the airport after a red-eye imo
Mr Bouie, if you are ever in the Triangle, you should get a country ham, egg, and cheese biscuit from Biscuitville. And then you will need another space on your Mount.
These are easy to make yourself, Jamelle. A trip to the deli for some thick ham slices, cheese slices, english muffins, and a Dash egg steamer. Also, try switching the ham to Pastrami.
It might be on Mount Rushmore, but the sausage Mcgriddle is the peak of breakfast sandwiches. Even though they apparently have 8 million calories in each one.
And support slave wages and their workers needing government assistance when they profited $14.71 billion last year. Cant believe he’s so non chalant about this. Another brunch liberal…
Giving four dollars a month to McDonald's for a sandwich doesn't seem like a big deal, but it's the fact that he's green lighting the support of them to all of the people on his platform? Like at least eat it in shame. Lmao
One time, I went to McD's and ordered a steak egg and cheese bagel, and, for some bespoke reason the muses smiled upon the chef that day, because much to my surprise, I found not just a steak patty nestled between those bagels, but A MCCHICKEN PATTY *AS WELL*
Guess you have not tried Burger Kings croissant with sausage egg and cheese. I prefer the bacon one. Use to love McDonald’s egg McMuffin, but given a choice. (They are across the street from each other).Burger King wins out always.
Anything McD makes is not a great some of the worst food known to mankind a Full English "(Full Irish is the best but only in Ireland)" the best the Mount Everest of Breakfast's.🏴
WRONG!
An Egg McMuffin is only 1 part of the ritual: 1 Egg McMuffin, 1 Bacon, Egg & Cheese Biscut ( bacon can be substituted), 1 cheese Danish & coffee.
This will fill you up with the brightest of guilt & loathing as you fight to scarf that last bit of Danish...
This is the truth. I'm not even dipping into the other comments, to see anyone trying to hate on the mcmuffin, or anyone else trying to say the mcgriddle competes.
When you only get one egg a month it apparently distorts any skills you may claim as a food critic. I’ve also seen your takes on Taco Bell. Stick to politics.
Had a discussion about breakfast sandwiches over the wkend. The final agreement was that yes, egg McMuffin is a unique experience but must be limited to an indulgence attached to a road trip of over 500 miles.
This bullshit right here. This is why we fucking lose ALWAYS. Can't stick to a boycott because yummy fucking cancer sandwich is more important than grandma in the nursing home about to get bounced by nazis.
I don’t eat meat so I order mine egg and cheese only, which they don’t usually have ready. So they have to make it fresh. Which makes it nice and hot and melty. #TheMoreYouKnow
I once had a little too much to drink on a train and ferry trip to Ireland. I woke up on the ferry and saw they had a McDonald's on board. Quite possibly the best Egg McMuffin I've ever had.
Unless you have had a honey-butter-chicken biscuit with the jalapeño biscuit from Whataburger, you're only in the foothills of breakfast heart-stoppers.
A couple of years ago my wife began dishing out home-made sausage egg muffins. You can't believe how good real pork sausage, cage fee eggs and fresh muffins taste.
Not only is it on the Mount Rushmore of breakfast sandos, it’s the one they carve the likeness of first. Also, congrats on only having one once a month, my will is not that strong.
They're not *quite* as good here in 🇵🇹, if I'm honest. They come with bacon, not ham (or canadian bacon), and there's just something kinda missing IMHO. I usually add some salt, pepper and oregano to make it more palatable.

I knew it’d be a winner from the multiple fingerprints on the page in the photo.
Two strawberries and about 10 blueberries with granola on top for me. 😋
Try microwaving it for a great improvement!

I probably get one or two a year but... My God I love them.
(Oh, and I’ve never owned a microwave!)
Have a roll and square sausage.
Realise that you are wrong. 🙂
Can't stand the garbage cheese at mcdongal
(*also* Mt Rushmore should be given back to the Indigenous people*)
Everything else is just standard ingredients.
McDonald's sucks and is pro-genocide.
Also one of the few breakfast items cooked with freshly cooked eggs. The "scrambled" eggs on other sandwiches is premade.
It might need to be the only one there.
I am all about my once-a-month sausage biscuit with egg.
And the hash browns of course. Need those too for a balanced meal.

I'm just here to agree with every word you said.
Even better.
1) Egg Slut
2) Chimney Coffee (tamarind candy bacon)
3)Maison Matho

GFY sympathizer.
Renewed my Costco membership, though. Gotta reward the good ones.
Have them too frequently and they lose their charm, but the occasional one is a genuine treat.
That and the hotcakes are the only decent things on their menu.
McMuffins here are just kinda okay. They just need a little zhuzh.
