My kid lives in socal and called saying it was worse than the 80 mph winds we had in MT when he was here last. He’s a MT kid so fire is familiar. He’s not in a evac zone but has everything ready, he’s gassed up, has his docs and stuff he can’t live without.Good luck Hat! Here’s hoping for a wind shift
We all got up at 430 when the evac zones widened and blundered around in the dark since the power is out. Wife is wearing her hiking helmet light. It’s a look.
Best to go now before they declare and traffic grinds to a standstill. Bring meds, chargers, critical docs, cash if you can, and Murderball and company. That’s it. It’s time to go. Godspeed.
We evacuated to Simi Valley. We had no power, no 5G, and no cell service. We weren't sleeping anyway. There were some comical fumblings and stumblings in the dark.
Seeing reporters with ski googles/eye protection due to embers flying through the air speaks to how frightening the situation is…. 😳

Pretty terrifying
Wishing you & all affected the best!
Ive heard taking a quick video as you move around your house to evac helps with worst case scenario insurance claims. Was told this by someone who lost there house but unsure of the real validity of it.
Thanks for the update. I thought of you when I heard the news about the Altadena fire this morning (I lived in the Glendale foothills until I moved away about five years ago).
My yard is wind blown, and I didn’t sleep much last night: sound of wind was fierce.
Thankful I’m not close to either fire; hoping you and your loved ones stay safe and your home remains unscathed.💙
I grew up in CV. The Santa Ana’s are stronger there due to the narrow pass between the Verdugo and San Gabriel mountains. They’ve been really strong when I lived there. If they’re strongest ever felt now, my god.
I'm on the other coast, a few blocks from the ocean, and the winds are scary here too. I can't imagine what it would be like if we had the same weather, but also everything was on fire.
Please stay safe my over there. If you are on the edge of an evacuation zone you may want to leave now to beat traffic and avoid a situation like what the people in Pacific Palisades went through when they had to abandon their cars. Prayers!
If you have time to prepare, put phone on video and walk around your house/apartment. Video all your belongings as best you can. Open drawers, cupboards, closets. For high priced items, if you can get model/serial numbers, even better. If the worst happens this will be invaluable info
Such a wonderful neighborhood—we were looking at Altadena before we ended up further west. Praying for you, your friends, and everyone’s safety. Our poor, beautiful city. I’m heartbroken.
@kenwhite.bsky.social Oof. Stay safe. I’m on the east coast under a bunch of snow but that’s sounding a lot better than the alternative all the sudden. :-/
I am so sorry for everyone in that area. My MIL (she died years ago) lived in one of the apartments that burned at that border of Altadena and Pasadena. Family friends live in areas that were calling for voluntary evacuations late last night. And my kid is at UCLA.
Please go. We barely lived through the Bear Fire in 2020. Wind driven fires are unpredictable and embers can travel miles in an instant. Sending lots of good vibes for your safety and your communities. 💔
Frightening, I have a lot of friends out there. Fortunately, they're all safe for now. I guess I could never be a republican (not that I'd want to be one), but I can't take any pleasure out of other people's pain.
I do. We only recently got this house as a winter house so there wasn’t much to pack, just basics, cat food, and their carriers are ready. FIL in Phoenix is ready for me.
Stay safe. My brother's evac'd from Altadena & friend in Hastings Ranch thinks she lost her home. Fingers crossed for my brother's home & everyone else's. #EatonFire

Are you ready for the climate crisis that is coming to your door.
Flu season peaks in February, usually. Who knew I would be living through history!
That's the site I'm using (sister is on eastern edge of MAL-C114). I also shot them a donation for their work in keeping us informed. I'm sure they'll appreciate anything they can get.
I know the idea of losing your home is devastating, but focus on getting your and yours out safely- there’ll be plenty of time to mourn the structure later ♥️
They are safe with friends and family but the fire has already taken a friend’s home and they must wait helplessly to find out if it takes their own beloved family home.
Stay safe. I remember the wildfires of 1998 in Florida. We didn't have to evacuate, but the smoke came up every evening, only to be wafted back by the ocean breeze. We didn't have the bad winds y'all are contending with. Buena fortuna!
Trying to be hopeful but it’s hard. We spent four years restoring the house and building it to grow our family (our first arrived 9 months ago) and facing the prospect of that all gone is too hard to face too.
I’m watching KCAL News and it’s devastating. I’ve been in touch with my L.A. friends to let them know they can head south if need be. We have been lucky here in San Diego so far.
Wishing you to stay safe and that the fire stays away from your home. If you are still there, you might want to make a quick video inventory of the house contents for use with your insurance company if the worst case scenario should occur.

My former home…the whole street is now gone.
Lumpy, stressful gravy, but gravy.
Cheap ones are fine for irregular work, but a proper hiking one is better.

Keeping good thoughts headed your way, for all of you out there. Hoping for rapidly diminishing wind!
And I would strongly advise removing all non-native plants from California (especially palm & eucalyptus trees).

I pray that you find help
A nice neighborhood.
It’s just adjacent to the north of Pasadena.
Oh yeah, and Trump is an imbecile.
🙏
Safe travels and prayers that your home will be safe!
