Can’t skip the junket with the people you are supposed to be regulating! Those cancer patients should have scheduled a month ago and offered 10k donation
There were cancer 💊 shortages under Biden. 🏥s eschewed 😷 once Biden declared Covid “over”,which has lead to more chemo patients dying. The most generous interpretation of their behavior is that they are indifferent to the death and suffering of the vulnerable. Their seeming ineptitude is a choice.
So...here's my suggestion (which I say lovingly, and apologies if you do this work already). Healthcare advocacy groups are set up for these types of actions (and can pressure lawmakers). They're already in the midst of doing this work. If you need recs, let me know.
Can you imagine the massive swing back towards normality if the media actually bothered to report on what the policies are and how they'll affect real people, maybe even started humanising people other than Trump voters?
If the average Joe got the kind of glowing puff piece reserved for neo-nazis.
'If Fox thinks.' That could also be a statement in its own rights. But I think it does think, even if only about how to rake in $$$ through spewing venom and lies.
Thank you! Yes he did, and I figured he would, but the message our congresspeople are sending each time they flirt with finding “common ground” with these arsonists is dragging the Overton window further and further to the right
I think of this as the Mamie Till Mobley approach - open the casket, let everyone see the appalling harm. But it isn't Dems only that should be doing it - it's our news organizations. Where is our media?
it makes me believe that they are willfully failing because they think that in the backlash they will have all this power. The problem is that the power won't go to them because there won't be a fair election.
Politico just published something about how Hakeem Jeffries is trying to appease silicon valley donors mad that Elon is getting away with more than they get to
There might be a few with their heads up, but most probably end up getting buttonholed by consultants telling them "that doesn't poll well, too controversial" or something.
Frankly because those patients and families are scrambling to put together alternative treatment plans ASAP. People seeking treatments in clinical trials often are very ill.
I know one of these patients personally. He has stage 4 spleen cancer. His file at the NIH is closed, but he can't get care anywhere else because he is still enrolled in the study, as no one is authorized to remove him from it.
Democrats are not the media. They don't own any publications. You should be asking "Why is the media not doing interviews with patients that Musk kicked out of their cancer treatments?"
fine line - we do need to drive and encourage our reps - showing impatience is good. Agree that we don't want to turn dem constituencies against the party at this point.
First, the press should be doing this, instead of whatever else they're doing. (The general lameness of today's headlines in major papers, given everything going on, is 😒.)
But, secondly, yeah ... Could Dem lawmakers recruit patients for a general press conference? Worthwhile question.
If you can’t join in person here are some days to do economic protests. Call every company you spend with and ask what they’re doing to protect your data, or safety. Make these big companies take a position in this fight. Make it their problem. Put on the pressure. Sign up: https://generalstrikeus.com
IMO that sounds quite callous and uncaring to those patients. Perhaps invoking them in media interviews is OK but many of these people are very sick. People are not props.
They're very busy! From Michael Bennet's newsletter yesterday, item 2 between BHM (#1) & the coup (#3):
"Alongside Wyoming Senator John Barrasso, I reintroduced bipartisan legislation to enable our state’s National Forests to retain millions of dollars of ski fees within their boundaries."
So….Musk cut funding for cancer trials and you, a reporter, are asking why Dems aren’t doing interviews? A reporter? I thought the role of media was to communicate the impact of the legislation and changes in the government to the people. Why aren’t you interviewing them? Have you pitched it?
How would they quickly identify willing patients - very ill people whose privacy is still scrupulously protected by law? There is no press agent to coordinate the weekend media appearances of cancer patients in clinical trials. Harass people on their way into infusion clinic?
Exactly, highlight stories of individuals who’ve been harmed, it’s not hard. What does it actually mean when research funding is slashed or eliminated? Give the public specific, visceral stories that will be seared into their heads. Make the story about the actual people hurt, not budgets
Because Democrats are historically very bad at generating media content. They are happy doing a press conference no one watches and patting themselves on the back and then wonder why the Overton window has moved under them.
Why aren’t republicans? This hits MANY large research universities in red states? Why aren’t republicans doing interviews with farmers that will lose out because they grew crops for USAID? I’m so tired of holding sides to such different standards.
I’m sorry but Congress is in session. I see Democrats at work but also giving interviews about the madness going on. Hakeem Jeffries has been very vocal. Kamala is in California helping the victims of the fires. It has to be your algorithm cause I see all this on social media.
Or why aren't they going to the sites where USAID was shut down and make a media stink about starving babies! Go to the labs were NIH-funded cancer research was cut off! Got to the streets & ask people about how they feel about their data in the hands of Big Balls & the Apartheid kid!
Apparently they think their hands are tied & there is nothing in the Constitution or laws they can use to stop this. You are willing to give them all kinds of rope. It's clear that they are making it political for their own benefit & protecting the country from fascism isn't on the radar.
It would put them directly in the xtwit line of fire as Elon would try to discredit them, and the extra stress might wreck their health when they need it most and the danger might make their health irrelevant in the worst case. (The patients and their families I mean.)
I mean as someone whose father is potentiolly in one of those trials; part of the reason may be that many of them were designed in such a way to minimally affect the patient if they get cancelled especially if they are a device focused one. but it depends on the trial
The whole media industry is overwhelmed with negative results across the board of all government activity, that there's simply no capacity to do full rounds of investigations and interviews.
The Democratic Party is a complicit institution in what is currently happening. Please don’t be inactive while waiting for them to do anything meaningful! We liberate us!

Fetterman has been accusing scolds of ruining the Democrats' brand. Don't expect leadership, selfless service or courage from this bunch.

I've been getting the STRONG impression that most of their brains just don't compile information very fast.
In unrelated news, I think we need to elect more neurospicy people to Congress.
Same wealthy donors as gop
Meanwhile, back to dictation.

Or perhaps they're just slow, complacent, wealthy, and scared.
One can't help but wonder how much harm the Pelosi/Schumer/Biden generation have done by hanging on for so long.

Wait a few weeks and all of those of may change.

And, the Dems are doing nothing other than complaining.
I don't understand the question.
But according to that judgement that presidential acts cannot be legally challenged, they have a problem
