Actually, I recall you at 17, taking tests for high school classes and sounding so enthusiastic! Just getting started. I think I offered to have you over for a meal way back when.
I should probably do something similar. I’ve been spending too much time lying around by myself watching TV or reading. This whole situation is so depressing!
I love that I'm "stocked up" thanks to Costco. Ran out of lemon juice. Thankfully,I had another one in my pantry, same with paper towels, toothpaste, replacement toothbrush heads, soap, etc. I'm actually saving money.Coffee cream is at least $1-$2 less. So is milk&butter&cottage cheese. Love my Costco
Yes, as someone who relies on a local mutual aid pantry, I can get behind this 💯. The demand often outweighs the supply. We get donations primarily from Trader Joe’s, but Central Market also contributes, as well as a local farmer.
Just buy a freezer too. I’m about to be jobless as I’m one paycheck away from homelessness and my work is probably closing. Bit of I was able I’d buy a freezer and stock up for many reasons
Yes, those are my top three as well! I will also shop Natural Grocers. I need a local replacement for Target for the items I can’t find at Aldi and when I can’t drive to our TJ’s or Costco
I agree. I gotta stick to my values. I will not get support any business that does not have similar values. It’s difficult but I’m going to walk the walk. Won’t always be able to, I know, but I’ll do my best.
While that is a good sentiment make sure you so look at what brands. Costco will restock what is "in demand" so avoid brands who support abhorrent things. This really applies to most stores of course.
More time consuming to check who needs what, but small households w one-two ppl can divide costs of fresh produce when buying in volume: lemons/apples/potatoes etc.
Our Costco has better quality in fresh food items than our local CGY Coop which requires newer pricier cell phones to get deals.
There’s a new Costco warehouse coming to my area literally about six minutes from my house. I can’t wait for the opening in about six weeks! I’ve watched it being built for the past year. Chomping at the bit! 😁
Like just to be clear, we're all collectively glazing Costco rn bc they are refusing to fire minorities. That's a good thing, but also, the bar is through the fucking floor.
And it's degrading over time because the culture is changing. People are fighting to KEEP it a good workplace bc they are sliding into being just another retailer. Wages aren't keeping up, there's not enough employees to keep up with demand, and the warehouses are unsafe
There hasn’t been an update yet, as far as I know.
As a former union member, we don’t strike until they do. Everything else are their negotiation tactics. 💪🏾 I hope they use everything to their advantage.
The biggest demand is for more workers to be eligible for membership, as far as I know.
They can fight it but if workers are willing to put in the effort, they have no choice but to allow it. Like, it is illegal to union bust. Costco isn't some benevolent company, they didn't want the PR nightmare. & to be clear, fighting it is EXACTLY what they are doing NOW for new members tryna join
And it's degrading over time because the culture is changing. People are fighting to KEEP it a good workplace bc they are sliding into being just another retailer. Wages aren't keeping up, there's not enough employees to keep up with demand, and the warehouses are unsafe
There are at least 18,000 people SCREAMING that it's not

kroger keeping dei, which means ralphs is also okay (at least over here in san diego, ralphs might not be where you are). i’m ditching vons now that they’ve started locking things up
Thanks for saving me that looks up. I'm about to have to hit hillcrest and little Italy farmers markets as my sole source of food soon.
Ralph's has the lock up for personal care aisle so I refuse to shop that aisle (except hillcrest, shocker)
Vons in bonita doesn't have locks yet.
yeah i need to find someone to split with. but as long as i don’t get perishable stuff, i am able to store pantry items. this just means… every six months 😂
I absolutely LOVE Woodmans!! Very friendly employees, you can always find a person to help you and great prices. And they have brands it's hard to find anywhere else. Between Woodmans and Aldi, I'm set!!
You can get a whole lot more there than food - TVs, travel packages, tires, pots and pans, linens, gas for your car. One stop shopping, all high quality products.
The other day I realized everything I was wearing was from Costco. Shoes, socks, underwear, the whole outfit. I used to shop at Nordstrom, now it’s Chez Kirkland.
Never understood everyone’s attraction to it in the first place. Plus they are horrid to their corporate employees. They lie to get people to sign contracts.
See if you have any neighbors that are in need. One of my neighbors posted on our buy nothing group that they needed food and now I give them my extra groceries that I get from buying packs of things instead of individual items. Win win for both of us bc I no longer have groceries that rot
I live in a rural, very red, knuckle dragging area with the one Costco. It’s packed constantly with all the Magat folks. As much as I’d love to support the store, Hells bells, I can’t even get in there. And yes, we also have 3 Walmarts within 6 miles of each other.
I’m not sure if this is still allowed, but Amazon used to let you buy gift cards to other stores with their gift cards. That is what I used to do when people gave me an Amazon gift card as a gift!
Target is also a great company yet ever since the ostracizing polarized darkest complexion makeup counter row exclusively having locks that take an employee to remove it monitor on it
I have2waiver&change my child era stance on favoring t@rget since that’s sloppy enough2drop it2almost wall mart level belligerence yet every company is non ethical to plenty of degrees while competitive market wise
The same item may be sold cheaper thus go where that is versus boycott yet choice is eh : vote with dollar yet just sparingly wherever you’re at& makes most sense4you as well as the feeling tumor inducing to walk in yet it’s not cool to be snooty & backfire compromise ourselves & whomever, however
They may have just taken the page down to avoid attracting attention due to 🍊💩’s EO. I know some companies are just going to be real quiet about their DEI, possibly rebranding it.
Announcing loudly that they won't be doing DEI is infuriating to this consumer because it suggests they plan to actively discriminate. If they just fold it into regular HR training programs and call it "diversity awareness" then no problem.
exclusively shopping at costco doesn't necessarily mean your values are uncompromised, it just means you're willing to overspend for perceived moral superiority.
Choosing to spend my money withe companies who support what I do and not to spend with companies who support the opposite is moral. My money isn’t perceived. It’s real money. And yes, makes me superior. Hope that helps.
I was just assaulted by a J6er who thought that since I was “in her way” she was entitled to ram her cart into the back of my foot because she wanted to get to the chicken before me.
There is just sooo much to unpack after going grocery shopping these days!
🤷🏼♂️ Let's make sure you put it on blast. I wonder if you go through EVERYTHING you buy, wonder how your values would actually be tested. Probably wouldn't be able to buy anything. 🤔
Ya know, oddly I started buying more from Walmart and decreasing my Bezos spend. Why? Well, Walton never pretended to be more than the he was, unlike Bezos.
Do you like fish? The Tortilla encrusted Tilapia is great. Also the fresh Steelhead-cheaper that Salmon & tastes the same. I cut it in serving chunks & freeze it.
Someone with your influence organizing a nationwide boycott, or at least encouraging folks to find alternatives to, all those giant corporations who have axed DEI would be AWESOME! I'm just saying.
I have neighborhoods, same deal, on my website, Left is Right. I'd love to get that going! Check it out! You can join or create your own and post away. It's the second link in my profile.
You could create a joint co op with a couple other families to buy groceries once a month from Costco then split them up.
Items like meat, staples flour sugar etc. paper products, case lots.
It takes a little planning but then you don’t end up with a years worth of ketchup.
Well, Target caved. They stopped their DEI programs under pressure. I think Kroger is holding on to their programs, I might have to try them. They have delivery services. We will see.
Thanks to people like you getting the word out, I was able to download the app. I found out some places don’t have the values I care about, which was enlightening. I will be working to begin to change my shopping habits to more align with my values.
I started bulk buying a month ago. Now I make meals that last me a day or 2 (including a lunch) so I don't go out to eat either. Saving money, time and money doing it this way. I just have to go weekly to get fresh fruits, veggies and dairy. Spend maybe $30 a week now.
It's a fallacy that you can't buy groceries at Costco due to bulk sizing. Many smaller serve options sold in cases; also, "family-size" items are great for meal prepping for the week. I've been shopping there since before the pandemic for just me and my cats. What I can't get there I get from ALDI.
I have been shopping there regularly for the last several years, I shop once monthly. It took some adjusting; canned and frozen last a long time, produce can be frozen or dehydrated. Pets, composting, and wildlife reduce waste. Cook large, freeze reheatable portions. 1/07/25 local eggs 2 doz $8.79 👍🏽
Agreed. I stocked up on supplies before 1/20 and have a csa to support local farms. Anything we run out of will come from Costco from here on out or small local businesses.
Here’s my Costco trick: I donate what I don’t need/can’t eat before it goes bad to a local food pantry, especially when it comes fresh fruits and vegetables.
I basically end up paying the same as I would at another store but made someone else’s day better as part of the deal.
Thanks! We are empty nesters now and shop at Costco. There is so much waste now that the kids are gone. I would love to give the food away instead of trashing it.
Definitely ask a tax preparer though I’m no expert!
Also check with your local food pantry in terms of what they can and cannot accept. Different states and even different parts of the same state can have varying rules (mine won’t accept eggs for example) for what can be donated
Like the Internet, there is no end to what Costco can provide for you. Tread carefully, however, lest you find yourself burdened with a 20 pound bag of chia seeds.
I was just told you can no longer find Aldi DEI policies on their US website, but you can in Europe. I have not personally verified it so maybe you can look it up. It's a non issue for me since there isn't one here but I'd check before buying if that's your thing.
The Kirkland canned chicken is good. I make white chicken chili and quesadillas with it. They don't have the white beans for the chili at my warehouse, but they do have black beans.
We may be tiny separately but together we are mighty!

Costco and Wegmans for me, and local farms when in season. Cancelled Amazon prime, NYT subscription, my electric car solar panels and battery are not from Tesla. Don t be a Fetterman, spend along party lines!
Pass the extra to your neighbors, or your local food pantries! Food banks in some parts of the US have seen a 300% increase in utilization since 2019, and as food prices continue to rise they're going to continue needing help to feed the community.
I wish I could do that. The closest Costco to me is a 3 hour drive through the coastal mountains of Oregon. So it's not something I like to do every week. But when I do get the the valley I shop there
Yes! It works great for the non-perishables. I live on a ferry-served island and it still comes in 2 days. Have to make the trip over for dairy, produce and wine, though 😊
Time for a party with democracy advocates. All of us buying in bulk can bring a dish made with whatever mega amount ingredients we bought at Costco. Anyone for chicken nugget Parmesan?
I am doing this to, for one member household, it is very difficult. But I make some dog treats for neighbors and some sandwiches for people in need and it all worth it. Values above conveniente✌🏼
I’m a single mom with my 2 daughters part time and I shop there every week. It’s amazing for meals and leftovers and you can stock non perishables that last you a long time. I waste very little food from there.
I'd love to do that, but can't afford to drive over an hour to the nearest location. That's one of the drawbacks of living in the country -- you trade peace, quiet, and a nice view of the stars at night for convenience and accessibility.
Nobody does next day delivery here. We're in farm country. We already checked. If we're lucky, it might get here in a week. Even Amazon doesn't do next day delivery out here, and they have trucks everywhere - plus they utilize the USPS a lot.
Look for neighbors who are hurting because of job loss due to this asshole in chief. Local pantries, church pantries. The need is going to be at a level of desperation.
Come on, Santiago, find a like-minded person or family and split your purchases. BTW, I buy 90% of my food from the and have never eaten more healthily. Come summer, I grow a lot of my food.
I called Costco and I said I want a membership but if they go Maga nazi I want to cancel and get my money back. My commerce is a political decision. And they said yes!
My grocery stores of choice (no particular order): King Soopers (Kroger), Target, Sam’s Club, and Costco. Sadly, there are things at Target and Sam’s Club that I can’t get anywhere else or would require me to walk into Walmart. I am *not* walking into Walmart.
Lots of people are crazy for low prices and employee owned businesses. Not sure why it matters that Trump supporters shop there also. It's open to all. Unless you know something I don't.

They mimic Walmarts employment tactics, minimum wage and horrible to no healthcare
Anyone know of a company that sells comas? Cause I’d like to buy a 4 yr coma as soon as possible.
They're union busting and refusing to meet with the unions. 18,000 employees are striking in one week
As a former union member, we don’t strike until they do. Everything else are their negotiation tactics. 💪🏾 I hope they use everything to their advantage.
The biggest demand is for more workers to be eligible for membership, as far as I know.
Second, the strike was approved by 85% of union members. Costco has less than a week to meet demands before they strike.
They have denied 98% of demands outright.
I do appreciate the update. My info is from an article I read about a month ago.
It's degrading over time. People are fighting to KEEP it a good workplace bc they are sliding into being just another retailer. Wages aren't keeping up, there's not enough employees to keep up with demand, and the warehouses are unsafe

farmers markets…so many of them sell products or cooked food now, which is irritating.
They have a 100% donation record of supporting democrats and they’re a highly ethical company.
When price comparing as a consumer
& has me feel as tho I will develop tumors strolling thru
Yet economically
On both the consumer & promoting versus discouraging influences
Don’t rag on it just because it’s the go2place that became synonymous with embarassment

The grocery store we use most is Winco. We shop Costco for shelf stable goods & other supplies.
I share a membership with a friend to make more affordable.
I basically end up paying the same as I would at another store but made someone else’s day better as part of the deal.

Check the lists.
Even when I buy from local businesses, I check the donation lists.
I'm not supporting anyone who doesn't support equal rights.
I even changed stylists when I found out my stylist voted for Trump.
Shame on him and his husband.😡
