I'm going to be honest:
I'm blocking people who are complaining in my mentions that they're sick of calling their reps and people should just do their jobs.
Yes, ideally, this is how government should work in theory. But we're at a crisis point, and it's all hands on deck.

Some of us have blue senators and representatives -- what should we be doing? I'm not sure calling them is the best use of my time.
Positive feedback is just as important as negative feedback

I live in Chicago. Both senators and my congresswoman are blue. I still call them because if they know our positions, they can fight harder for them.
Also, it's never a bad thing to praise them if they're doing a good job.
Having sheer numbers—"We logged 406 calls today asking us to vote NO"—also helps convince party leadership to quit dicking around. "Wow, folks are mad, we should do something."
Screaming on BlueSky is clearly not reaching them.
A lot of them are young and trying to make a difference and telling them that you appreciate the work they do keeps them going
So I call now every time to remind Padilla. You can’t trust they’ll always vote party line & if the public isn’t influencing them, who is? Can’t leave a vacuum.
Disruption is the real name of the game, though. If you show up with a group, even small, and refuse to leave until they address you, you're otw
But my real message is that these random acts by individuals do make a difference but it’s never one and done. It takes daily and sustained effort. And we are all tasked with doing the small things that add up.
Thank you for your questions.
My magat reps get lots of cursing from me. "How fucking stupid are you guys? Do you also want to die of the plague?" It's cathartic, at least.
And in 2017 my red House rep had to vote against repealing Obamacare because of the pressure.
Gotta keep the staffers sweet even if they work for an utter turd
Or: ‘I thought you believed in the Constitution! Doesn’t Congress hold the power of the purse?’
Every little bit helps! We’re all grains of sand. It’s our collective weight that matters
FEELS pointless when we call and they cut of their voicemalls
Similarly, the ACA McCain vote.
They backed off the Tuskegee Airmen stuff real quick yesterday. I know there are more, but I’m going to take my dogs for a walk.
Nancy Pelosi is my rep and I have a lot to say about how the "opposition" is doing it's job.
They can't adequately represent the people if they don't know what those ppl need/want
Yeah, maybe they won't do the right thing. We still have to do the right thing so we can live with ourselves
I was furious this morning and might have mentioned something something about “growing a spine” to my democratic senators 😬
I’m on the west coast; best I could do would be to Mail one into DC…
Wouldnt know who to send it to… there are so many options 🤣
A Real person answered at William Timmons & Tim Scott's offices
Left a message for Lindsey Graham
I practically begged them to look out for family members & all South Carolinians who depend on Medicaid. Hopefully appealed to their sense of decency
Scott's staff were always polite and friendly.
Moderately unfriendly
I need to remember that
Have called twice already and it’s time to tell them to vote NO on rfkjr and the AG who’s nominated
🤬🤬🤬
Democracy, like everything else, only works when folks participate; we have gotten lazy
And at least the humans I spoke to were friendly over the phone
Meanwhile the side that pressures their reps have been successful beyond all measure
