One man just wiped out $10 trillion in wealth, is destroying centuries-old legal protections, and seems determined to unravel humanity’s greatest public health achievement. In 3 months. I don’t know how we get out of this. But if we do, one person can never have that kind of power again.

We tried mass tariffs in 1828, and it crashed the economy. We tried again in 1930, and it crashed the economy. Third time’s the charm, I guess.

Beyond. Parody.

If you’re in Wisconsin, vote today for Susan Crawford. There are also two special elections in Florida’s 1st and 6th districts. Let’s show Elon our country isn’t for sale.

Vaccines. 💪🏻💪🏻

Disgusting

Not getting much attention, but the Senate GOP is about to start voting - to make sure banks can charge higher overdraft fees. Seriously. Good time to let your Senators know what you think of that.

🔑 under-discussed point — why they were on signal:

The simple fact is though that it's going to take a long time - much longer than we feel comfortable with - to disentangle our military capabilities from the US. At the same time, it's a mutual entanglement, so I expect the process to play out relatively peaceably unless the WH forces it not to be.

If a law firm won't risk everything to defend itself, what makes you think it will risk anything to defend you? My advice: Find a law firm that will not back down and will never bend a knee.

It is a sad day for the legal industry. Paul Weiss, didn't just bend a knee, it set a new standard for shameful capitulation. This is a stain on the firm, every one of its partners, and the entire legal profession.

Every time you see someone powerful acting like a craven coward in the face of this authoritarian menace, let it stiffen your own spine. We are all we've got.

“Many do not have transportation or they are homebound or in the hospital and don’t have access or simply don’t know how to use the internet... What happens to them? What happens to the person who can’t do it online and now their local office has closed?” www.newsobserver.com/news/politic...

Threatening to impeach judges who check your power is proof you need judges checking your power.

The Commerce Secretary is promoting a company’s stock on live TV, and not just any company’s - the company owned by a ‘special government employee’ and the president’s biggest donor. The corruption is the point.

Jawdropping. You would expect this in a dictatorship, not the United States. This country is unrecognizable.

If you were outraged by the crimes against civilians on Oct 7th but not by the many more crimes against civilians *since* Oct 7th - just this week: kids being burned from head to toe; having their limbs amputated without anesthetic - then you don’t actually care about crimes against civilians.

"I think you caved. I don't think you showed the fight this party needs right now, because you're playing by a rulebook where the other party has thrown that rulebook away" -- here's the full clip of Sunny Hostin confronting Schumer today on The View

We just wanted to take a moment to thank all our new supporters! Tomorrow, there will be more of us!

The members of the Jan 6 Committee are all proud of our work. Your threats will not intimidate us. Or silence us.

Israel just killed hundreds of Palestinians, including kids. The US just killed dozens of Yemenis, including kids. "Why do they hate us?" asks the American public, blissfully ignorant of what's being done in its name in the Middle East by the US and its ally Israel. Sigh.

“If, during the Cold War, the government funded universities as a way of strengthening America, Mr. Trump’s second administration treats them as a threat to be dismantled.” We must resist this deadly attack on the very foundations of free thought and open inquiry. www.nytimes.com/2025/03/16/o...

They want the unreviewable power to grab people and render them to a foreign gulag.

A massive demonstration took place in Budapest today against Viktor Orbán’s pro-Russia regime in Hungary Opposition leader Péter Magyar declared: “The spring is here, the spring of the Hungarians, and we, together, will end Orbán’s winter.”

“Like many autocrats before him, Donald Trump has launched what could be a devastating attack on universities.” His fig leaf is fighting antisemitism. Color me dubious in the extreme. www.thecrimson.com/article/2025...

"dei medal" you might as well just put "n*gger medal" because that's what they mean to say

This power grab is unprecedented, unbounded, and unconstitutional.

I find "listen to the women" excellent advice in this specific case and... in life in general. ♀️ #VoteNO 👎

“Corruption is patrimonialism’s Achilles’ heel because the public understands it and doesn’t like it. It is not an abstraction like ‘democracy’ or ‘Constitution’ or ‘rule of law.’ It conveys that the government is being run for them, not for you.” search.app/B3oTfWts5TgJ...

In a world of Matts, be a Derek.

When you hear Trump & his supporters defend the detention of a Green Card holder by pretending to care about 1) antisemitism on campus, and 2) trespassing on college property, remember that Trump 1) hosted a Holocaust denier for dinner & 2) pardoned violent insurrectionists.

Correct.

"They'll never cut Social Security" is the new "they'll never overturn Roe v Wade."

“Those nasty Canadians are ripping us off and are controlled by Mexican cartels. They’re poisoning us with fentanyl and need to become the 51st state or they will pay a high price” is a belief that literally ZERO Americans had six weeks ago. It’s entirely invented from scratch.

What he said about Social Security payments has been repeatedly debunked - so the question isn’t whether he’s lying about this, the question is why. What is this a pretext for? He and the GOP have long shown interest in going after Social Security. What are they going to try?

The real heroes in this fight so far have been the men and women attending those Town Hall meetings!🔥

New York Times, Jan. 26, 1935.

"History will remember this day— when an American President and Vice President abandoned all we stand for."

The People's Union USA, a grassroots group, is calling on Americans to join a national boycott by not shopping for 24 hours on Friday.

Per Dr Atul Gawande, ex USAID: “All malaria supplies protecting 53 million people, mostly children, including bed nets, diagnostics, preventive drugs, and treatments – terminated.” There are no words that sufficiently describe this level of cruelty and sadism.

All the folks who exited NBC today. Seen together, hoo boy. Message received.

Either this is a distraction, which is irresponsible, or it’s serious, which is insane. You choose, Mr. Trump.

Members of the military are supposed to be loyal to the Constitution, not the president. Changing that seems to have been the point of the Friday Night Massacre. open.substack.com/pub/joycevan...
