In-between books right now. Just finished reading “Rosemary: The Hidden Kennedy Daughter. Heartbreaking. Very insightful look at the struggles of both special needs people and woman in the 20th century. Also, I just watched the movie “A Different Man” a couple hours ago. Loved it.
Watching: Larry Fessenden's BLACKOUT, Dusty Austen's THE BEAST OF WALTON ST., Christian Gudeghast's DEN OF THIEVES 2, and some MCU flicks with my son for his watchthrough.
The biography of Pat Nixon written by her daughter. I am surprised to hear the amount of campaign smearing that went on back then, it's just as nasty as today. The book describes a wife's road to the White House while juggling parenthood.
Watched it last night. Went in without knowing what to expect and it was a whole journey! Super intense and intimate and uncomfortable and stressful. Loved it!
Le lac de nulle part by Pete Fromm.
Its original title is Lake Nowhere but since this book seems only available in French translation, I feel compelled to give its title in French.
Hard agree with it being his best so far! I wasn’t a huge fan of How to Sell a Haunted House, but loved Southern Vampire. Wayward Girls is a notch above, for sure.
Me neither. I can't remember the brother's name but I hated him too much. Southern Vampire was awesome. Did you hear him on @scaresshapedus.bsky.social.
Your comment about that was my first time hearing of the podcast but I saved it to my library! Looking forward to checking it out - thanks for the rec!
I'm going to be watching an underrated #NoirAlley classic "Woman On The Run" for the fifth time. Great location shooting in the Bay area and a really cutting script.
Almost done with Lazarus Man (Richard Price), which I'm thoroughly enjoying! It's very different from the other books of his I've read, but not in a bad way at all - I love trying to figure out what he's doing here. Reminds me of Elmore Leonard.
I’m watching the Arrow-verse (Supergirl, Flash, etc) episodes in release order so when I get to the crossover ones, they make sense.
Reading: Confronting the Presidents as an audiobook while I’m working around the house.
Probably rewatching more Parks & Rec because it’s my favorite. I just started book 4 of #ZodiacAcademy, Shadow Princess. & I aim to also read the Body is Not an Apology by Sonya Renee Taylor.
I enjoy this show too. Hopefully you’re caught up cause *spoiler* I’m so disappointed that Leighton left the show - I thought her character’s arc was so good!
I'm almost through Lucinda Berry's When She Returned, and I had a group viewing of The Substance last night. I really hope it gets some of those Oscars.
Reading ~ The Invention of Good and Evil: A World History of Morality by Hanno Sauer (translated from German, not sure about it so far) and The Gods Themselves by Isaac Asimov ; Watching ~Severance, and a bunch of YouTube.
I grabbed a bunch of those EC comics Tales From The Crypt reprint anthologies from the library and bought a collection of Althusser pieces from Verso. I know how to have a good time.
Watched The Meg 2, Smile 2, and Saw 3D. Trying to finish up The Reformatory by Tananarive Due and just started Bright Young Women by Jessica Knoll. How about you?
At the Bottom of the Garden by Camilla Bruce
Brooke Shields is Not Allowed to Get Old by Brooke Shields
Coup de Grâce by Sofia Ajram
Everybody Wants to Rule the World Except Me (Dark Lord Davi #2) by Django Wexler
Havoc by Christopher Bollen
I’m honestly probably going to watch Bystanders again at some point (which full disclosure, I wrote and star in it), but I honestly can’t believe it exists outside my head. I’m in the midst of some creative euphoria and disbelief. It’s a confusing and beautiful feeling.
Finally watching Agatha All Along. It’s actually pretty entertaining even if it has already been entirely spoiled for me by tiktok. And I’m reading Lore of the Wilds. And I need a new audiobook to start.
I’m rewatching Bones and Buffy. I was also watching Silo. Reading - Eleanor of Avignon, the Parliament, the Unmothers, and the Land of the Living and the Dead.
Addicted to Nordic noir shows. We should seriously rethink the whole invade Greenland thing. These shows aren’t your cozy English mystery. There’s still some Viking left in how they kill. They may be happy but there’s an under current we probably shouldn’t tap into.
Last night I watched Tár. It's a long movie, so today I want to minimize screen time and read a book instead. I'm halfway through The Road by Cormack McCarthy.
Reading “Skin: A Natural History” by Nina Jablonski & rereading “Rise & Fall of the Bible” by Timothy Beal, and “The Long Goodbye” by Raymond Chandler. Gonna see “Presence” tomorrow
I'm reading When the Wolf Comes Home by Nat Cassidy (it's already made me have to put down a snack I was eating while reading), and I'm going to watch the final episode of The Creep Tapes tonight after the kids are in bed.
Just finished Dungeon Anarchist’s Cookbook (Dungeon Crawler Carl 3) by Matt Dinniman. Now barreling through Wake Up and Open Your Eyes by @claymcleod.bsky.social. After this I’ll probably go back to DCC4. It’s a more light-hearted apocalypse.
