Very stupid. Giving sensible spend limits saves time and money. And a limit doesn't mean there are no receipts or checks. They just happen afterwards. No successful company operates with $1 spend limit.
The US national security adviser, Mike Waltz, told Fox News that Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, should “tone down” his criticism of the US and take a “hard look” at the deal. It proposes giving Washington $500bn worth of natural resources, including oil and gas.
Do they have any idea how many hoops we go through to justify any purchases in these cards? This is what happens when people with zero knowledge make decisions.
I wish they would just make a doge musical that all the Nazis can go to and clap and fap too. And then leave the rest of us alone. Because the whole doge thing is nothing but nazi performance art.
The government reimbursement rates for things like hotels is pathetically low. I have only once been able to find a hotel within the allowable limit. Once again— this isn’t the problem.
It's treating them like they're all kindergartners. Just remember, kindergartners need constant supervision with a high ratio of supervisors per person. Gonna need lots of high paid supervisors - or just be content with nothing getting done.
Most ee’s have a per diem. Can’t wait to see their audit, lol.
Ok folks, in the corporate world, most employees have to use their own credit card (thus, being a bank for their employer, but I digress) and then get reimbursed. Welcome to corporate policies being installed in the Fed!
Anybody who’s been in a big business knows what you do next is drown management in purchase reqs until the policy changes. Need a pencil? Fill one out. Notebook? Do another one. Whiteboard markers, one req for each color.
Every bit of news about DOGE in every outlet needs to start saying that ALL federal agencies were audited annually, and all fraud and abuse was routinely prosecuted (much more aggressively than in the private sector). Trump's framing intentionally gives the impression that they're fixing something
Under current rules certain travel purchases for some (all?) agencies are required to be on the government credit card, typically hotels and flights, because the government gets a kickback on the interchange fee. A lot of employees would love to use their rewards cards.
Travel is conducted on a government travel card which is not the credit cards affected by this freeze government travel cards are turned off unless they are necessary for approved government travel when they're activated. After travel you have to present receipts and clear it within 3 days.
You know who doesn’t abide by government-stipulated travel rates? 47, his kids and all his secret service and entourage. He stays at his own properties, for way above the government rate and then makes money off of the trip.
Did that once for a trip. Think I spent almost two combined days GD FAX'ing receipts, replicating the receipts line-by-line, and also building the f__king report categorizing line items day-by-day, explaining entries to dumb as a box of rocks dipsh_ts trying to reject expenses.
Subsequent trip with a corporate card spent roughly the same per day. App captured all expenses automagically. Spent all of 5 minutes before submitting the report upon return, cheerfully paid the balance for rejected items.
I had a($50k limit) federal credit card for years. The amount of paperwork and approvals needed to buy anything with it was mind numbing.
Fraud of any significant level would have been damn hard.
They have over 30 employees. A mercenary group was hired to do security while they rifled through the Peoples’ files and records, and…”ball” care (probably). Door dash also likely.
The Government Credit Card Program was the most micromanaged and scrutinized program in the Department of Defense; the cards are closely monitored and routinely disabled when use was not warranted. This is another nothing-burger!
Government procurements under $10,000 MUST be handled via P-Card. These cards are very tightly controlled and audited. DOGE just halted most everyday government procurement.
Thats the thing, federal employees are heavily conditioned to not bring anything into work or pay out of pocket for anything ever for work. That's a civilian world thing
Peace be upon you all, I am now at the top of my destroyed house now, we have no shelter to live in, there are no necessities for life in the area, no drinking, no food, nothing, everything is ruins, I want to help you for me and my family, may God reward you all the best
Every thing this admin does is something your stupidest relative sent you in a chain email titled 'if the government ran on COMMON DAMN SENSE' ten years ago
DOGE's purpose is dysfunction. The idea is to make the competent highly trained people quit because the conditions they're forced to work under make it impossible to do their jobs.
Things are going to start falling apart and there wont be anyone to put them back together.
Not sure what they hope to achieve. When DH travels, he has to use his gov card for hotel, rental car, and flights. We have to pay the entire balance when the statement is issued, then wait to get reimbursed. Sometimes we're out $5k - $8K for months. Seems like this benefits the fed gov...?
This is why people who have never worked in a massive bureaucracy should never be allowed to meddle with one. They don't understand a thing about them, how they work or how and why they have evolved as they have.
This will be fun when whatever bank has the credit card contract gets involved. Especially for TDY, where it is/was forbidden to use a personal card because the companies wanted all that 💰. They aren't getting their fees anymore.🍿
As a Pcard Admin I can tell you cards are monitored daily and each transaction has a pre approved authorized payment mechanism in place. It’s merely about control. The mandatory automatic payment denials are going to be fun!
There's no fraud on those like these guys appear to be thinking. The card is linked to th3 person. Whatever you spend you have to pay back. The system for vouchering to get paid back has like 2-3 layers of authorizations.
Why is that? Is it a traceability/integrity thing (I genuinely don't know)? Because that makes the claim of fraud even dumber than it sounds at first glance.
1. Traceability (expenses can be audited and if you spend $100 on fancy cocktails...)
2. Reduced paperwork over doing reimbursements. Saves time/money.
I travel on a business card and the extra work if I have to put something on another card (because, say, the reader is malfunctioning and doesn't like my business card that day) is annoying. And that is one person moving money between accounts.
Most hotels also have an incidentals charge, either per day or for the whole stay. Not to mention anything that’s charged back to the room during the stay or any damages to the room that need to be charged later to the card on file.
Government credit cards are used heavily for low-cost enterprise software licenses, certificate renewals, break/fix, and other time-sensitive IT infrastructure O&M. Cutting them off means when a $100 part on a critical server fails, it stays broken for 3+ months until the procurement gets processed
Yeah, I was thinking that. I don't work for US Government, but I imagine there would be some similarities to our government department, where the credit card used for some essential subscriptions is issued in the name of a certain employee who has the authority and training to make purchases.
She guards that thing with her life because any dodgy purchases are traced to her. And when I had to backfill her role for 8 months she couldn't just hand over the credit card details to me, they would have had to cancel her card, train me, and issue me a new one.
They decided it was easier to hand over payment of the subscriptions to someone in another team that already had a credit card, rather than issue me a new one
This is absurd. Govt employees are required to pay off this card every month, and then submit for reimbursement. If you don’t pay off the card, you get fired. If you put any personal expenses on the card, you get fired, even if you pay it off.
Trump’s ‘drain the swamp’ lie is costing Americans their jobs—while the real swamp thrives. With Elon helping gut agencies, Trump’s installing loyalists to serve him, not the US. This article I wrote exposes the truth & how to stop it before it’s too late
More Accurate Headline Should Read: Spending Limit ILLEGALLY placed on U.S. Government credit cards by Musk - many people just read headlines and DOGE doesn't exist
The problem with Liberals is that we are not in touch with animalistic motivations:
The driver is not incompetence or malice.
The driver is humiliation - with the desired goal that government officials resign, relaying the indignities they faced in frustration, & expressing helplessness as warning.
DOGE and mUskkk Are an insult to our country and faithful public servants. Every patriotic American needs to stand in opposition to their illegal actions

The current process seems quite rigorous now and by stopping the cards, employees will need to pay sales tax. Saving ?
I mean, that's what they told a Federal judge, and I am told those judges tend to have very little humor about being lied to.
Ok folks, in the corporate world, most employees have to use their own credit card (thus, being a bank for their employer, but I digress) and then get reimbursed. Welcome to corporate policies being installed in the Fed!
Would you accept a purchase order from this Administration?
NATIONALIZE ALL MUSK COMPANIES
ONLY CONGRESS can create or dissolve government agencies.
WHY in the hell do you assholes not have the balls to say it?
Fraud of any significant level would have been damn hard.
you can't even make up how bad this corruption is even if you tried...
(I was a federal supervisor when credit cards came in & made our work so much more efficient.)
Things are going to start falling apart and there wont be anyone to put them back together.
Again - failure to understand how these cards work.
Seriously, these guys are like paranoid Dads who thinks their son is spending all his college money on porn b/c he has no idea how colleges work.

Imagine you're ON travel.
You are required to use your government card, or you might be fired.
You go to pay your hotel bill only to find your card has been disabled.
You are NOT allowed to use a personal card and get it reimbursed later.
2. Reduced paperwork over doing reimbursements. Saves time/money.
So, yeah, the fraud claim is truly dumb.
Multiply that by thousands...
Some hotels pull the full amount and then some off the card when you check in, so those travelers will *probably* be okay.
But are they allowed to use a personal card or cash to, say, pay for a cab to the airport?

They are ramping up the frustration factors. The “we’re saving $$” is the lipstick they are putting on this huge pig of Project 2025.
