What you want from economic policy is constant chaotic day to day volatility combined with extreme complexity and opacity.

Just now in the Oval: Trump has signed action officially adjusting tariffs vs Canada/Mexico, saying all goods not compliant with USMCA will still see 25% tariffs (or 10% on energy).
WH official says roughly 50% of Mexican imports, 62% of Canadian imports are NOT compliant, so tariffs remain there.

Trump will fail because even the strongest nation is only 9 missed meals away from pitchforks and guillotines.
And right now chaos is reigning.

“1. Short everything
2. Announce tariffs
3. Close out short positions
4. Buy the dip
5. Call off the tariffs
6. Sell the spike
7. Repeat
Is there any reason to believe Trump's entire inner circle isn't doing this?”
And him too
Non-compliance is punished and expensive so 50%+ of import/export businesses wouldn’t be gambling on whether they are audited for compliance.
That’s the problem in my opinion. The percentage of MAGA people who specifically voted to hurt other Americans seems to be really really high
so much empathy for the small business owner
on either side of the border
BTW, neither does Elon. Tesla will be under 200 soon enough and more will be disfigured. No one will want them.
I guess the pump and pump party is already over.
Trump acts like he controls everything and everyone.
What agency is left to stop him?
On the plus side, I'm down a few pounds and haven't bought as many groceries.
I can't eat when I'm stressed.
I guess I should be grateful for the overtime pay while we still have it.
FIRE THE imposter
- I am imposing 25% tariffs on everything
- I am suspending all tariffs for 30 days
- I am imposing 25% tariffs on everything
- I am suspending all tariffs on cars and car parts
- I am suspending most tariffs for 30 days.
No American shit until they oust this autocratic sympathizing regime.
It’s up to us to stand up against Elon and Twitter, no one else is going to do it for us. There’s a million small things everyday Americans can do.
The DSA should publish a “good company” list.
Trump will be forced to eliminate Canadian tariffs because US voters will be livid about inflation. Meanwhile Canadian voters might urge their leaders to keep retaliatory tariffs because they’re so furious at America
It’s not good for me or other Americans financially but at the same time, what are we supposed to do?
There’s only so much one person can do and I’m trying all of it. I’m honestly kind of surprised he didn’t wait until next week when Trudeau has been replaced.
What a waking nightmare this is. Couldn’t he have just put a tax on Nickelback albums or something?
Ex-friendly and tariffed countries will want to know how much to reciprocally tariff us.
Maybe some of the inefficient ex-federal employees can help.
Now Fuck off You Felon and sex offender. and the rest of your Drunks & Junkies in your office
Sort your own problems out
(For the chaos agents)
It seems like there must be a way to profit from the markets suddenly going down a lot, then up a bit, then down a lot, then up a bit.
Like, some kind of insider...
While I have no doubt there's lots of insider trading going on, this is not a ploy.
I wish it was that simple, but I'm starting to think they don't think they can get the tax cuts. So they are going for stock market roller coasters? 🤔
I want chocolate ice cream. Okay.
No now I want strawberry.
