that said we been working on transparent α-Al2O3 (Aluminium oxide) based substances for decades
the fancy aluminium oxide stuff is what sapphire and rubies are made out of. Sapphire screens almost impossible to scratch, but not good for dropping for it will shatter
different trade offs
