FWIW: ICE spokesperson tells HuffPost it "was never at Dodgers stadium, and thus never tried to gain access;" referring one of our reporters to Border Patrol

Right, it was the masked paramilitaries. Reporters have to follow up with something like "were any officers or agents of any kind under DHS/ICE authority or direction at Dodger Stadium?"
Hey ICE, here's an easy fix. If you don't want to be blamed for everything that the Proud Boys and Oathkeepers are going to do -- ID yourself. Identifiable cars, jackets, real warrants.
Look at it as protection for yourself and your agents. B/c I suspect shit's gonna get real.
This is even more proof, then, that people being detained should call 911 because they are being kidnapped by masked thugs supposedly not affiliated with ICE.
That’s true! And we definitely know that BP hasn’t been hiding their identity. They’ve been driving their super identifiable green and white vehicles even on interior missions. Those are either ICE or the West Side Sharks.
There is video. Border Patrol, even on interior raids, have all been driving their white and green trucks. This is ICE and they lie like they breathe. Should be noted after all quotes from ICE in the media.
So… ask if LAPD should be making arrests for these folks impersonating federal agents? Pretty sure the cops talked to some of them and have license plates on video.
It's not dumb. It's a staple of fascism. They know it. They know what they are doing. It is one of the tell tale signs we are dealing with authoritarianism/fascism. They lie because they know they will get away with it and they want you to know no one can stop them.
I wish reporters would start calling the lies out.
"ICE spokesperson blatantly lies to HuffPost, saying it "was never at Dodgers stadium, and thus never tried to gain access;" attempting to deflect attention by referring our reporter to Border Patrol
They’d be able to prove that if they had uniforms or badges, or any other easily identifiable markers. Until then, I’m assuming any masked thugs are ICE.
In 2020, I tried to get our local news to look into what CBP was doing in Bend OR, which is more than 100 miles from the Coast. No luck, but another poster posted about some case where CBP was asserting authority within 100 miles of the Mississippi because it meets the sea. I can't find case info.
Interesting. I have heard of similar cases, including one at the California/Nevada state line (which made the news here because someone stood up to them). ACLU makes it sound like it was fairly common during Trump's first term.
Yeah, Lake Michigan is weird because I think all or almost all of it isn't at the border. If you go just from the border, most of Michigan (not all like in that map) would be within the 100mi, but almost none of Wisconsin.
Lake Michigan has long been considered part of the “north coast”. It’s a sea, directly accessible from international waters. The Mississippi River is a trickle in comparison.
Yeah, because you can travel by boat from Canada directly to the US side of any Great Lake. (There were, in fact, War of 1812 naval battles fought on the Great Lakes.)
I know. The reason I think Lake Michigan specifically is weird is because it lies entirely within the US (unlike the other Great Lakes). I don't understand why that counts as coastline but things like, for example, the Mississippi River don't.
CBP says: "This had nothing to do with the Dodgers. CBP vehicles were in the stadium parking lot very briefly, unrelated to any operation or enforcement."
So, they're ADMITTING that there are armed marauders decked out in realistic-looking gear bought who-knows-where who are presenting themselves as LEO's (ICE, PD, HSI, etc.) and kidnapping people without showing a warrant or any identification... interesting 🤔🤬
True. And CBP only mentions their vehicles, not BORSTAR or BORTAC agents. CBP's "very briefly" portion of the statement is questionable considering ABC7 was able to get the chopper up, fly to the location, & circle getting video of the vehicles, including agents standing around outside of them.
Team ownership has a 99-year lease for the parking lots (leased from a company that owns the land which is a joint venture between ownership & McCourt). The organization does control the parking lots.
They were obviously there, and lying makes things worse, because if we take them at their word, then there is a large group of people pretending to be ICE agents going around Los Angeles. Which is worse.
Tea leaves to me are screaming that the Dodgers were fine with it until people found out and protestors starting coming to the stadium. Once that happened the Dodgers started to worry that the protests may hurt their attendance for the game later today, and asked them to find somewhere else.
Literally! If they were denied entry, then how did they get in??? They had been using the lots all week, and when the community showed up to hold them accountable and kick out ICE, the Ds put out some propaganda to save face. Don't fall for it
Or someone being kidnapped or murdered by a person claiming to be ICE. It's not like people haven't already impersonated police with terrible consequences for their victims.

Here's a map, because what counts as coastline is not intuitive (Lake Michigan?)

Someone else suggested above but likely a play at semantics.
If they won't do the latter, then the former is the truth
I of course would never condone that but it is something that could happen
