So during Covid, when all this started, furries started to become more mainstream/public/open. Furries are, almost always, really smart engineers, programmers or some kind of scientists of the sort, and almost always neurodivergent.
And what do neurodivergent folk need? Well, ADHD meds.
To make a long story short, the government realized that if the furries were given all the resources they needed, they could, absolutely, without a doubt, completely overthrow and take over the government. So what did they do? They worked with the DEA to create a shortage of meds.
They basically debuffed the furries (and all us other neurodivergent people) until our insane intelligence levels were taken down several notches to where the structure of the government was no longer threatened, and then reintroduced the meds back into circulation.
As far as I have seen, furries are behind just about every bit of critical infrastructure in the Western hemisphere. Why would anyone pick a fight with them
Also, if they're seeing NSFW pics that's mostly a choice they've made. I not infrequently see a fairly thirsty furry cartoon in the Discover feed, but tasteful, It's been a long time since I saw an uncensored NSFW pic. Either the AI is catching the NSFW ones or the posters are polite about tagging.
Turning off the NSFW filters and then whining about seeing NSFW posts is pretty stupid. Turn on the filters, and if you see any NSFW posts after that, report the post for not tagging correctly.
I haven't had any problem with furries not flagging their posts. It's the guys posting their hairy chests and tight undies that aren't flagging their photos correctly.
We have pushed very hard to ensure our community tags our art and pics appropriately. Believe it or not, we do tend to respect others wishes to not see porn!
idk i see untagged suggestive, pure nsfw, or like clearly fetish content like... every day on here on this account with all my settings correct. I'm not sure if I'm just seeing stuff before it gets algorithmically tagged but it's genuinely annoying even as a furry
Like any social media, people can set it up as they please.
Reminds me of the person who told me everyone on tiktok is a woman with an onlyfans…. Uhhh dude my feed on there is shelter cats and people baking donuts
That one Republican who made a TikTok account and then complained that it was all half-dressed men and drag queens didn't realize how much he was telling on himself.
Idg the hatred of the furry community. May not be my cup of tea in general, but the folks there are generally really kind and just having fun being themselves. Maybe if you're seeing a lot of the content you're triggering the algorithm to give you more? Silly. Let furries have fun! Leave them be!
Started noticing that as I got older in pieces, though I didn't engage enough to know for sure. Ty for letting me know! I personally had one really bad, scary experience as a teen that gave me a bad impression. Once I unpacked that trauma it was easy enough to learn that experience was an outlier.
Still didn't go out of my way to harass people. Still knew it was my trauma and not my business to hurt people just doing their own thing. There's crappy people in every community - doesn't mean the community is bad or undeserving of safety or kindness. Most furries I've run into are kind folks!
Complain on Twitter about this. Cause you have the option of block lists and filters here. Don't cry if some "degenerates" have more understanding of the platform than you.
Now the troll inside of me is rumbling and wants to troll those threads x.x
Some people are really used to "Adult content" meaning things tailored for their gaze, and don't have the discipline to check the display name or PFP before clicking to view it.
They may just need to modify their follow choices or…not look at whatever feed they have up
what’s hot classic was furry porn as soon as they showed up en masse (because they all seem to like each other’s posts) but my feed is pretty sfw nowadays and I have curated very little tbh
Maybe no place would be, eventually the content of this social will diversify (if they focus on produce and not in ranting about it), so there's no point of worrying about this now.
I mean, muting is an option right there for folks. I know I've used it a lot on some of those accounts. Don't want them to not post, it's just not the content I want to see, so it gets muted.
Furries posting just in general discussion? No problem, pull up a chair (if you're allowed on furniture)
One of the thread is less about being a furry and more having to deal with people not properly tagging their post.
And i'm 100% behind that guys cuz' the tagging system is really good and should be used
Oh, you mean the fatphobic asshole? I’m willing to have this conversation again, but he’s more of a mid feeder with nasty prejudices. He’s barely literate on fashion topics that we’ve been talking about for two decades and he won’t learn from women because girl cooties.
I'm not a furry basher, but even with my nsfw settings off I see a tremendous amount of borderline furry porn, esp. stuff like inflation and diapers in discovery. just saying there's a legitimate complaint to be made
I have my filters wide open 'n I never see that kind of kink... Check who y'are following 'n what feeds are pushing that, unfollow, problem solved. Here there's no algo, if ya see smthing ya didn't want, ya choose to smhow.
I don’t think so. I’m also seeing tons of furry content and I’m not following anyone furry-related as far as I know. I’ve blocked dozens of them, but they keep showing up. Not hating, just not my thing. For sure though, the furries are HERE.
Don't forget to add alt-text.
It helps folks with vision issues enjoy content, and it helps folks that may not always understand the context within a photo as well.
If you're more concerned with interactions, a lot of folks (myself included) don't reskeet images w/out alt text.
My problem when first starting out on bluesky was that it was thinking I was a gay man and showing me dicks attached to men. I'm a trans woman, dammit! I don't like men like that!
Also, if you don't interact with those accounts, your For You feed shouldn't be showing you those. If it is, it's not working how it should so please let me know!
Speaking of annoying things that show up unnecessarily or unwanted... I'm noticing a lot more lately (on a certain other similar service) that Ads are popping up. I block them all right away. Looking forward to #bluesky getting as popular as it!
I just don't get people who don't get how to curate their own feed on Bsky. The only thing that bends me on the socials is 1- THE ALGORITHM pushing my people to the bottom and 2- ads. Ah, ye olde Instagramme, I miss it so.
I can assure that everyone here would be VERY upset if the people who used terms like "furries" & "weirdos" together in annoyed seriousness were the majority of users here
I know how to help get furries out of that person’s discovery feed!
First, go to “settings.” Then, travel to “The Danger Zone” and complete the process.
Furries are people who imagine what it would be like to live in a world where animals have human intelligence, human posture and ability to interact with humans while retaining characteristics of their chosen species like being covered in fur, feathers or scales, having expressive ears and tail, etc
Looking at the subreddit, many of the posters there seem to really not get (or, if they do get it, resent) the fact that furries and trans people were here first.
Nah, I started out by following accounts that post mushrooms and I think more of them must have been furries than I realized, so instead of showing me more mushrooms, the algo has been showing me furry stuff
The only place I really see that is in the Cat Pics and Dog Pics feeds I subscribed to, which then are in my timeline because I have the setting on to bring posts from my feeds into my timeline.
I think those should be separate feeds (furries vs. pet pics) but also, meh.
At the time shirtless buff anthropomorphic animal cartoon dude pics were very common in the Discover tab, much more common than nowadays. But I rarely if every saw anything explicit, or even saw anything more suggestive than Buff Cartoon Dude.
I strongly suspect some people got angry at those pics.
I think I am following a couple of people who are furries. That’s not the reason I follow them and I don’t find it all that difficult to ignore the stuff they post that doesn’t interest me and read the stuff that does. You know, like a fucking adult.
Unless you directly follow a bunch of furries or keep your nsfw filters turned off you’re highly unlikely to get flashbanged by furry porn on here these days.
If you click on the What's Hot Classic feed, hoo boy. So many horny cartoon characters with fur. And they're all obese for some reason. Not my cup of tea.
Too many people follow the like What's Hot Feed and shit. I spend 98% of my time on my Following feed and the other 2% on special interest feeds I added. I use 0 of the default Bsky feeds and I never see furries posting furry stuff.
People offended by furries, like those offended by swearing, are prob serial killers or at the very least they’re likely pro-dog murder in gravel pits. 🤷🏽♀️
To be fair, I know what they mean—the Discovery feed was wall-to-wall furries when I first joined Bluesky, and it probably still is now. I'm not into furries, so I don't look at the Discovery feed, I just look at the people I follow. This isn't hard.
I've muted a dozen or so that pop up with exceptional regularity or intensity in feeds. Main complaint is that it's a 2-click process but otherwise go on with life.
I'm just not sure why it even matters? I'm not a furry, they seem nice enough though. Like why does it matter what others don't their free time? If I don't like an account I mute or block them. Idk why that's so hard.
My first day here I saw polite conversations where furries gave advice on how to not see them if you don't want to. Simply blocking NSFW images greatly improved my experience. The clean stuff I don't mind. Before that I was thinking this app isn't for me, but that was mostly because I joined on fcf.
That’s awesome that they were able to give useful advice! I prefer to look at NSFW content on my own terms and I can get how unwanted nudity/smut/etc can really ruin someone’s time. I’m so desensitized, especially after taking a figure drawing class.
I'm very grateful. I've had a very positive experience here that I would've missed out on were it not for the understanding of a good-natured wolf-individual. ✌️🤘🖖
Nah, the problem on Twitter (at least in relation to this topic) is the number of some users attempting to normalize suggestive, if not outright nude, drawings of anime children.
I don't super wanna see furry or anime content, but it's been pretty easy to set up my feed so I don't really see much of it! That's the beauty of being able to curate your own feed!
I just don't get being angry at people who were here first...it's like walking into someone's house and being "man, there sure are a lot of your relatives here, huh?!"
It’s like all the folks who moved to Greenwich Village in NYC and then got mad that Washington Square Park was noisy and full people playing music and smoking weed.
Eh, that post is 5 months old. When the Discover feed first dropped I think everyone was getting a lot of furries in it regardless of who you followed or interacted with.
I still get some despite not following or interacting with any furry content, but I just ignore it and move on 🤷
It isn’t my thing and I don’t really come across it but I also don’t comment on it to say how much I hate it, not realizing I’m giving it engagement and thus perpetuating the cycle.
Clearly, they also have no idea how to use the block/mute/other features available. I never see any stuff I don't want to because I know how to curate my TL. 🤷♀️
These users might be happier with the social media platform created by geriatrics for geriatrics. See below for example from my building full of geriatrics.
I understand the last one at least, they don't like furry stuff so they just don't want to see it on their TL, no insults, just someone wanting to not see something, the others are just pitiful, Furries are the backbone of social media
Ooops.... Too many Furries! But seriously, just tailor your feed. People have gotten so used to having social media just feed them automatically that they don't even realize it's happening anymore.
I'm upset because it turns out that furries are apparently wearing costumes. I want to live in the world where there's this additional species of animal/human hybrids that's both very small and amazingly diverse. That would completely blow up the taxonomy and keep biologists busy.

And what do neurodivergent folk need? Well, ADHD meds.
Make fun of their onesies, and they'll eat your heart.
Followed.
We tagging our pictures :P
(art by @/luxraypok)
I do believe that furry porn, drawn and in suits was relevant to give the manual tag option
Since it would bypass the automatic tagging
Like any social media, people can set it up as they please.

im pretty sure there be dragons in those waters
And i'm 100% behind that guys cuz' the tagging system is really good and should be used
Perfectly balanced, as all things should be
Seriously furries basically run the place, they are just less open about it on certain apps.
But its totally valid if the issue is folks not tagging their NSFW stuff
The furries arrived and set up camp months ago, this is their social network now
It's just that, as apparent indicators and stewards of functioning Internet ecosystems, the people who know what's up would rather we stay.
Applies to virtual ecosystems, too.
That's a fucking apex posting predator if ever there was one.
Blocked him.
Which I'm not allowed on the waterslide at the top of said building as otters would break laws of everything and go FTL before the bottom.
Just paste the link for a gif from Giphy or tenor and generate a link window and boom, gifs on Bluesky.
You need to turn on the setting for that as well
Sad that so many people get offended by cartoon animal avatars.
here is my attempt of censoring my plant but i can’t really find a way to mark it as sensitive
...she is such a sensitive plant
It helps folks with vision issues enjoy content, and it helps folks that may not always understand the context within a photo as well.

Most of them are just simply cool, funny people
Reddit when child nsfw; AWWOOGGASA!!!!!!!
that’s what they probably think idk

not all but a Lot and there's custom feeds
First, go to “settings.” Then, travel to “The Danger Zone” and complete the process.
Do you know how social media feeds work
are you browsing a feed
I think those should be separate feeds (furries vs. pet pics) but also, meh.
I strongly suspect some people got angry at those pics.
"Oh, uhhh, its Bluesky! Its all over the place there! Don't worry, I'm going to write a very sternly written post to them right now!"
Really curious if “not porn” was meant to be good or bad to whoever put it together?

I'm the good guy here, I swear
We are everywhere. We are legion.
If you're seeing furry art and don't like it, just push oooonnnn.
Respect them!
Point is. There's no real excuse. Tons of methods exist to avoid furries. These people are just whiny.
Man I just wanna talk about video games, current events and maybe see the occasional booty
Hope you can continue to enjoy the site/app! 🫂
Is that too much to ask?!?
Yeah haha

Also, have those people ever been on twitter because....
THE FAST AND THE FURRY, US.
(I regret nothing.)
"Wait.. there's no fur---
OH RIIIGHT... *I* am the furry... "
Furries are here to stay, now & forever.
also, "too many furries" couldn't be further from the truth.
I hardly see any on here
Otherwise you'll rarely see them on the general feeds.
There's a lot of us but we mainly stick around there.
So people who are complaining about too many furries can't stand Any furries. 😥
M8 the call is coming from inside the house
I still get some despite not following or interacting with any furry content, but I just ignore it and move on 🤷
I have absolutely nothing against furries, but also I rarely see furries on my timeline (nsfw or otherwise). Def a skill issue
"Ewww, why are there WEIRD PEOPLE???"
Sneeze to death on shed-ding!
Sneeze to death on shed-ding
You and your filters could be too!
Where do you think they get the suspicious amounts of money that they spend on art etc ?!
