Trump has no chance at the last three. Maybe arm wrestling, because he can just flop his 300 lbs on her arm. Even here, the need to manufacture a horse race out of nothing is strong.
Trump definitely needs more time to get ready in the morning. Harris could go from dead sleep to out the door in the time it took him to secure his cantilevered comb over.
The US election season would be more fun if this survey was treated as a competition list.
"Well, the jury was unanimous that Harris trounced Trump in the dance-off, but now it's only three days until they're going to be abandoned on a desert island, so they better eat up!"
If you scroll down to the bottom of the link, you see the answers broken out by Harris / Trump voters, and what you find is that both candidates' voters think the other candidate is NOT better than theirs at anything, although they will maybe allow a "not sure" answer.
The people who believe Trump would win a cook/bake off are a useful proxy for those who will vote for him no matter what and probably write him in for future elections. Because I’m not entirely sure he’s ever worked a stove or made his own toast.
I saw 'handle spicy food' and 'win a danceoff' were both ~15% Trump and thought 'those are the personality cultists who will chose him no matter what.' I think sexism allowed a few of them not choose the cooking one because that's Lady Stuff, but all three are ridiculous to imagine!
Yes, but also I think there is some gender stuff there and some folks who would vote for him assume that Harris would win a bake off because that's what women do/are for
I would use babysitting as the proxy for this. Although even among that subset, I really hope most of them would not actually leave their child with him if it were a real scenario.
I truly doubt he has ever been left alone with his own children before they were older. Maybe his wives were onto something. I can’t imagine him with someone else’s child.
Who is trusting TFG for financial advice, thinks that he has enough impulse control to win a poker game, or that he doesn’t spend significant time and effort to get ready in the morning to look like, well, whatever that is?
Who are the numpties that think Trump could win a baking contest?! I mean I know they are cultish in their devotion but even for them the idea Trump knows how to turn on an oven or has ever cooked something in his life must be ludicrous
I don't like to disparage my fellow Americans but anyone who thinks trump is a poker player is a dunce. I'm not very good but I've played enough to know you can just tell.
Besides the laughable capacity for financial advice (Trump media stocks, anyone?) or arm wrestling, I certainly believe the only celebrity voice he can mimic is his own.
Thinking Trump would give better financial advice than *anyone* seems unlikely … unless it’s specifically advice about how to dodge taxes or, possibly, engage in wage theft.
It continues to amaze me that people think just because he has come into possession of money, he is good for advice/leadership about money. This is like if you want advice on getting rid of roaches, you ask the guy who has a house full of roaches
Harris would tell you to put your savings in an index fund. Trump would sell you his cryptocurrency.
I would expect even his supporters to agree with that, but they may not agree with us about what advice is actually best.
TRUMP: Raise. (beat) I'm bluffing you right now, I only have queen high but a beautiful Queen of Spades. I'm not saying she and I had a thing, not saying we didn't, but, why are you going all in?
The only one where I think he should be ahead is "more time getting ready in the morning." Harris is clearly very well-groomed, but whatever the hell Trump does to his hair looks time-consuming.
Honestly, I think the only reason she got picked more for that is gender stereotypes. Trump definitely seems like he takes way too long obsessing over his hair.
I also suspect Harris wouldn't be especially good at imitating celebrity voices, if anyone cares about that. Not that Trump is good, either, but he's probably more comfortable trying.
yup i was thinking about that too, and a story i read about a jamaican politician who talked to her in dialect to test her and she came right back at him with it
i think she’d definitely do a better impression. he would do an inaccurate and meaner one.
If he knows how arm wrestling works he might, because he golfs. It’s not about slamming to the left. The trick is getting a deep wrist flex, and then doing a curl.
I’ve beaten much larger dudes who thought it was about mass/brute force.
The fact that there’s strategy involved almost guarantees a Harris win. She’ll have been told how to win and internalized it. He’ll go in unprepared without any thought to what he’s doing.
No way. Harris was in her late teens/early 20s in the 80s; way more tuned into the popular culture references in most trivia contests. She literally grew up in the era of Trivial Pursuit.
The designated driver one is great because he doesn’t even drink, but even a good amount of his supporters figure he’d be on pills or fall asleep or something.
Three traits he is apparently better at would require him cheating. Presumably this is taken as a given
The imitation one is only because he tries to cruelly mock. Not because he is an amazing mimic.
So many of these should be absolute zero for DT, especially the lost wallet and helping a stranger. And who in their right mind would go to him for financial advice?? He’s gone bankrupt several times, including when he owned casinos where the house LITERALLY always wins.
He’s not really good at it, we just don’t punish those kinds of crimes and no checks to make sure the numbers add up. Same way he kept getting loans for years.
I'll give Trump celebrity voices, and maybe arm wrestling (I bet he practices just so that he can arm wrestle people at his age). Maybe designated driver too, given that he doesn't drink. The others are all Harris no contest.
I’d watch the voice imitation contest for sure. And I’d love to see Kamala crush him in arm wrestling. Who out here thinks a frail old man is going to win at that?
The one that makes me mad is people thinking Trump would give better financial advice. Kamala is invested in index funds! She’s our boglehead queen! Trump’s “advice” would be a scam where he takes your money. He already paid millions in fines for doing pretty much exactly that with Trump University
TRUMP FINANCIAL ADVICE: okay first you need eleven offshore accounts opened under shell companies that trace back to family members or employees who will keep their mouths shut. Next, you take money from your trust fund and you pay off the Italians…
every single time, the Republican can be the biggest bigoted mess you've ever seen and people will be like "but he's got to be better on the economy" for some reason
dude can have unimaginable debt and dozens of legal problems and the belief persists. How do they do it
This started in the 84 election after the end of the Volcker recessions. Reagan = strong economy, Carter = weak economy. I honestly thought it would be over by now after the Clinton boom and Bush crash but it still lingers.
Another weirdly persistent association is R's reducing the deficit and D's expanding it. Both parties are very comfortable with deficit spending now, but the only time we ever meaningfully made a dent in the deficit was during the late Clinton era. Still hear R's running on fiscal discipline tho.
Kennedy was elected just after I was born. Goldwater brought into the GOP the Klan and the John Birch Society, and wanted to nuke the Soviet Union and China.
They've been bad longer than this. The last time the GOP was pro-labour was when Lincoln and Marx were pen-pals.
Oh absolutely the Reagan era didn't invent Republican horrendousness, sorry to have implied as much. The "...but they're good for the economy" thing in particular, I do feel like, if it didn't begin after Carter the '80s at least supercharged it
I get that these questions are mostly "vibes" questions, since most people aren't really in a position to have first-hand knowledge. However, I wonder how much of it is based on male-female stereotypes combined with GOP/Democratic stereotypes? Seems more like a measure of bias.
They decided that Donald Trump would give better financial advice than Kamala Harris?!
Donald Trump, who has filed bankruptcy multiple times, couldn't keep a casino running, couldn't sell staeks, booze, & football to Americans, & is infamous for not paying people for services rendered.
THAT Trump?
Her mother was from southern India, and her father was Jamaican. The idea that she hasn't been eating spicier food that Captain Ketchup her entire life is laughable.
Came here to say this.
Anyone who thinks trump can eat spicier food than Harris is basically saying they've never met a South Asian or Jamaican person ever.
I saw a video recently where Trump was driving Melania and Barron is in the back seat, probably an Apprentice shoot. Really I was surprised he knew how; being chauffeured is part of his brand.
I think there was a story the other day out about him driving, from back in The Apprentice days, but so badly the producers had to put a tail car on him. Can’t find it right now.
It seems a bit telling that they didn't add, for instance:
- Steal your wallet
- Rape your daughter
- Sell you a used car
- Lie about their hair color
- Steal your tuition money
- etc
Maybe I'm reading the chart incorrectly, but on no question did any candidate get more than 50%? Really striking example of how we view even non-political things through the lens of our politics.
Comments
Man some people (like, 50 percent) won't give ANY credit.
Really?
Have people not seen his hair?
His makeup?
Per cent means out of 100.
Arm wrestling? Not bankrupting stuff?
The guy can't bluff. Holy shit people are idiots.
Everything he touches turns to shut.
"Well, the jury was unanimous that Harris trounced Trump in the dance-off, but now it's only three days until they're going to be abandoned on a desert island, so they better eat up!"
> Note: Responses of "both equally" and "not sure" are not shown
That explains it I guess.
Just multi-generational harm coursing thru that family (not that it excuses his behavior now).
I would expect even his supporters to agree with that, but they may not agree with us about what advice is actually best.
I suspect his advice would be "give me all your money and I'll guarantee a yuuuuge return on the investment", which would be very good... for him.
1) Fraud,
2) Bankruptcy,
3) Repeat.
i think she’d definitely do a better impression. he would do an inaccurate and meaner one.
On advice. That’s clear. He’s a cryptobro now.

(You've got to admit though he's pretty good at cheating on taxes, so if that's the direction you're going for, maybe.)
Does it matter if the world knows your cheating if you get away with it? If you're a star, they let you do it.
Instead, maybe have each take a cardiac stress test and see who wins.
Come over to help when I needed a hand.
Listen to me when I talk.
Tell the truth.
This I'd like finding out Charlie Brown never knew he didn't kick the football
Though it seems like a veep event
Like, I'd trust him if he gave me a stock tip, but there's no way I'd let him do retirement planning or whatever.
🙄🤦🏻♂️😂
I totally believe she spends more time on skincare, but a lot of that's likely to be in the evening.

The only “imitations” I can recall from Agent Orange sound like whiny versions of
