A heavy metal drummer who has veered off into jazz fusion in his spare time? I can believe it. Between session time and touring, I'm sure he is picky about what he listens to.
I loved this one because you have a guy with a blast beat (the Dirk-blast lol) named after him learning one of the simplest, straight forward-est songs ever and he takes it all very seriously like the pro he is. I also really liked the one from my boy @66samus.bsky.social https://youtu.be/qXL0jvbz3go?si=YqgLaTLLp4be7uZo
The song has been popular for the last 20 years. I assume when they say "hears ____ for the first time," they're speaking figuratively. He's "heard" it before, but now he's truly "hearing" it
It's super wholesome! And technically impressive if you're into music, but even if you're not a musician/drummer it's fun to watch. The RHCP drummer nailing that one song (maybe 30 seconds to mars?) on first take was awesome. My favorite was the mars Volta drummer absolutely nailing a rush song tho!
Ben what you really need is people hearing alice in chains nutshell unplugged for the first time. Hearing papa roach for the first time in 25 is disqualifying for a musician. Also see my other recent hot takes such as Weezer only has two albums. Print.
As a person who both watched Full House and can drum, I can say he actually did ok. John is in fact a pretty good drummer. His musicianship clearly shows with the skillful fills he's pretty trigger happy to showcase, but he's quite unorganized compared to other full time drummers. That's the tea.
These videos are great. They have a drummer listen to a song they don’t know without a drum track and then come up with their own part, and then they let them hear the original song with the drums at the end. The WTF here is that it’s John Stamos, but apparently he is a drummer.
I love this Drumeo series, but this is the same crew that got legendary Police drummer Stewart Copeland to play over a Limp Bizkit song. Didn't go well.

No, he didn't. That's not true.
You could sati it was a video that’s his last resort.

But how do you feel about Creed?
And then choose not to.
But regardless of drugs and politics, he's a surprisingly good drummer.
