You know that Bluesky tracks the behavior of those you invite, right? I dont think they do anything with that info yet but they could 'judge' you based on the behavior of those you invite.
He’s trying to kill Twitter no? I mean surely he can’t be doing stuff like suppressing likes on critical tweets and removing news headlines to try and improve Twitter?
He shadow banned those with no blue check. He ran off most advertisers. He re did the links. Now he wants to not have likes or re tweets. Hatred, bots, propaganda and conspiracies run rampant. I guess he wants to run it into the ground completely. He's an asshole.
Like, what was the plan here? Did someone in a meeting actually go "Lets remove the dopamine-producing bits of our app that cause people to use it in the first place! That's a great plan! People will come here for no reason now!" Glad I closed my account last week.
I'm one of the people who has been convinced from very early on that he & other fascist investors bought Twitter to destroy its grassroots-organizing and breaking-news-spreading capabilities. Many UX changes since seem to confirm that.
One of the fun problems in life is trying to separate mal-intent from stupidity. Sometimes I'm not actually sure which one is in play. Perhaps a mixture of the two?
On its face, nearly everything he's done is stupid. Though a powerful egotism-fueled cognitive distortion might explain it
https://www.nbcnews.com/tech/was-elon-musks-strategy-twitter-rcna118490 "Musk’s purchase of Twitter . . . would amount to a 'declaration of war against the Globalist American Empire.' The sender of the texts was offering Musk, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO, a playbook for the takeover and transformation of Twitter."
That is the question, i have issues believing he is smart enough for something this complex, now if one or more of his "partners" is driving this, that makes complete sense to me
He could also just be making childish decisions that he wouldn't normally make if he were to use his rational thoughts. Humans are not necessarily rational, in the amount of power he has might induce a less rational way of interacting with the world. The rest of us have consequences, he doesn't
What is the rationale for this? Doesn’t the platform then lose any real reason to use it if you cannot interact with other users? This makes no sense unless he’s really wanting to shut it down for good. And, if that’s the case why not just pull the plug now and be done with it?
The problem is bigger than that. Far right fanatics, who openly call for civil war, are abusing the reporting feature to purge Twitter. My account got permanently suspended because I called out the civil war jihadis to their faces.
Elon has taken an early weekend break. Whenever he's "weekending", he can't stop himself from inventing new means of screwing up Xwitter. 🤮🤮🤮
It's high time the media, companies and associations replaced the X between with 🔵🌤
Other Twitter apps used gestures like this for years and it was great. Twitter was one of the few apps cluttering the timeline with all those buttons. In fact, Tweetie, the app Twitter bought and turned into their official app, pioneered the gesture-driven UX for Twitter apps and everyone loved it.
Lots of people who are passionate about mobile UI/UX are willing to learn gesture idioms, but I think the majority of people want clear actions you can tap.
If user research showed that swiping was a more effective driver of engagement, there would be a lot more swipe-based UIs
But you need your UI designed to enable them. A sudden change like this is very unlikely to have the effort to not make it a clunky mess. Ignoring the fact that users hate change of all flavors.
Take Whatsapp. Quote reply is on swipe right & emotes are on held tap.
But all posts are highly bubbled -- there's tons of space so you've got grace room & you get the haptic feedback of the phone's vrrrr-bump on doing an action.
This works great, but the app has been designed to enable it.
they're around, but I never see them without either a menu button or a long-press that opens an action menu.
swiping list items is fine, but it only works for like 2-3 actions. it's also not obvious and it's awkward to segue from a swipe into a workflow or modal
Are you supposed to just scroll through an endless line of words and images without interacting with them in any way? Is that the x experience he is trying to create?
They said they’re looking at gestures for this stuff, like Tweetbot used to have. Tweetbot had an infinitely better UX and removing these buttons is actually one of the extremely few things Elon’s doing right. I have no idea how people tolerated the clutter in the official app this long.
I think what he actually said is he's going to not show the number counts there, but the buttons will still be there? I'm sure it'll be more fucked up than both concepts, somehow
ok, yeah but hear me out: if he removes all interactivity from the site, advertisers can’t ask for metrics on how much user engagement has dropped. he’s clearly a secret genius playing 5D chess.
is Elon "Brewster's Millions"ing thru $44B? because that's the only thing that makes sense. It's as if he has to have nothing to show for it by the end of the year.
Now, I’m just a too-online dipshit, and I agree that every single decision he’s made has made that place worse, but if he wanted to destroy it, why not just close it down? It’s like Major League — I never really got why the owner wanted to lose.
Imagine have so much money you can take a great social media platform, completely run it into the ground, not have a second thought about, and still have enough money to do it all over again.
Some people just need to be seen having fun and showing how wonderful their lives are and pay Elon for strangers to be bombarded with ego tripping bullshit.
I’ve seen articles opining that he’s intentionally tanking it to destroy wokeism, which seems far-fetched, but it’s hard to decide if it’s that or if he’s really just that daft.
I think both can be true. I do believe he's intentionally destroying it and making it a right wing club house, but I also think he's corrupt, racist and evil.
I know all the letters, and I recognize all the words in this message, if taken one by one, but I am still not sure what it means. He will... remove Twitter from Twitter?.. What is left? Like, an I processing the grammar wrong, somehow?..
At this point I have to wonder if Musk owns a stake in Bluesky. Every time he makes one of these idiotic, never-gonna-happen proclamations about Twitter, this place gets like 200,000 new accounts.
I'm going to run the Followers Bridge App one more time and anybody who I Followed that hasn't set up a Bluesky account by then, tough, I'm shutting my account down for good. I've waited for some really stubborn accounts to move, here or anywhere else, and I'm done waiting. My XFollow list will die.

Thanks 🙂
You don't make these choices for profit.

Give it to a quality poster please.
Blue checks today: I don't care if I can't tell if my unoriginal ideas about eugenics get likes and retweets. Musk is the God-Emperor.
But it's unclear if you can like/RT a post from the timeline. If you have to click into the post, that will drive overall engagement over a cliff.
Social media platforms try to make things as frictionless as possible when users share information because any bit of friction decreases engagement.
It's high time the media, companies and associations replaced the X between with 🔵🌤
Actually hilarious what this would mean on app where swiping by default changes between the Chronological and Dogshit feeds.
Or "did I click on the link/picture or did I press reply?".

just my opinion as an app dev

I'm just sitting over here eating 🍿enjoying the schadenfreude! :)
Dollars to donuts that was part of this.
they also keep removing the community note informing that the likes keep getting removed.
(they've removed my like twice so far, and i've seen the likes counter go down by thousands a few dozen times now)
And the only way to spread a post will be by paying them money so the algorithm favors you.
Next up, they're going to remove the vowels from every word.
ALL HE HAD TO DO WAS NOTHING.
Some people can't quit and need death by Elon.
That would be way better.
Only the content of your post is relevant. Not how much follower you have.
but you never screamed at me so there's that
Sucks that i don't have any way to reach some moots. And my brain doesn't remember actual names to pull them up from a new account 🤷♂️
