I must admit I know next to nothing about crypto currency, but it sure feels like pure gaming/gambling legally with something meaningless. I know investing is kind of that anyway, but at least you're investing in a product or service of some kind. Just feels wrong.
Oh shoot yeah I meant to say legal reasons - for illegal reasons there's definitely money laundering, but also dodging sanctions and taxes, and buying illegal goods and services.
Love those people who want these currencies to replace what we have right now. Put in $100. A little while later you're a billionaire! A little while later you can't afford a loaf of bread. Sure, it adds some excitement to life, but other than that...
It’s just the repeating four-year cycle, and it was bound to break $100K regardless of who was in office. But red hats will believe ay puke coming from their dear leader mouth.
Carlo Cipolla: "Basic Laws of Human Stupidity"

The dude is acting like he mined Bitcoin and gave it to people while also inventing Blockchain. People have decided that short term profits > literally everything else.
The suckers won't get mad at the grifters; they'll blame the institutions that should have prevented the grifting. And they'll have a point. If bitcoin is a scam, why is it legal to buy and sell?
BTW, the movie "Idiocracy" is currently playing on Hulu if anyone is interested in watching. I highly recommend this satirical look at our possible national future.
Nah that was just one rich asshole, we need a whole r/ducttapebananabets subreddit collectively buying art and getting picked up by Cramer for it to move the needle.
Tbh, I thought it was the opposite. Bitcoin is more volatile and people tend to stay away if things are looking bleak. Or maybe I'm a step off and that happens AFTER things take a nosedive
Totally speculative virtual currency is worth nothing more then monopoly money, but people still think its real money. The day it fall I will be enjoying the moment.
Making some techbros rich. That's it. Every crypto is utterly USELESS as a currency and their only legal use is investment and their illegal uses are a bit more numerous.
One of those statements is belied by the screenshot it's responding to (if you're publicly supporting something, you "have something to do with it"), and the other is belied by objective reality.
Bitcoin has been the single biggest accelerator of renewable energy sources
I don't like Ted Cruz. But the one thing we agree on is that Bitcoin mining allows renewable energy providers to monetize and invest in more renewable energy production
Hard no on this. Stupidity is supposed to hurt. If you throw your money at something as sketchy as bitcoin AND because it’s endorsed by a girl who made a blowjob reference while drunk on camera, you deserve to lose your money
"B...But surely sinking my entire life savings into a bitcoin promoted by a person famous for spitting on wieners is a surefire no-risk ticket for success…?!?"
- Literally the dumbest people in America
Then why did I make so much money in the last few years, while retired? I had to pay Federal and state taxes 2 years in a row. I've taken 3, week long vacations and multiple long weekends and I'm headed out on another cruise soon. I think the economy is booming. trump will take credit for it.
What has America come to when honest, hard-working people can me scammed out of their real money with the offer to buy fake money? A fool and his money...
Those crypto people are suckers, but not me. I’ve got hundreds of thousand dollars of NFT’s that I am going to sell at some point and… Lose hundreds of thousands of dollars
When I was learning to code html way back in 2000 we believed the internet would be a great equalizing utopia that elevated knowledge and community. However, here we are instead...
How did even one single person get duped into buying fake space money from the Hawk Tua girl?!?! ....I guess it's the same answer as "How did america vote a rapist felon right back into office?" 🙄🤦♀️i hate it here
Surprised the Cryto Bros would purchase a coin modeled after a female. However, given what she is known for, one cannot deny the sexual misogynistic undertones…
Or those guitars. But when you read the fine print you see things like "this is a prototype. actual design may vary" lingo, along with "will be delivered in June of 2025" and "no refunds."
For her to make money from crypto, she has to take it from lots of (admittedly naive) people who invested. Rug-pulls are about tricking people out of their money. it's unfortunate, I think.
So, wait, we get ripped off on the daily by The Orange Ragetweeter, and now "they" want this one-time Instagrammer in jail instead? Because they lost money... on a meme coin?
Confused. Isn’t crypto the cash equivalent of a hand job? This had an expert backer and, i am sure, involved lots of deep thought before it was launched given her track record.
so you’re saying a lot of uninformed people have a lot of disposable income to waste or they simply made a very poor financial decision here. all this tells me is that the Economy is better than people are making it out to be and public schools should require a personal finances course
Her 15 minutes have long expired. But, hey, even I have difficulties getting Alexa to stop the ding-ding-ding of her timer. (What do you yell? “Alexa, stop!” does not work. I usually have to unplug her.)
I will never understand why people buy meme coins. Essentially, the point of these coins is a Ponzi scheme. There are many legitimate coins with real technology and utility behind them. This is beyond my understanding. The same applies to Dogecoin—it will cause many people to lose their money.
Get ready for a decade of stories like this once the new Presidential administration finishes the job of murdering the SEC that SCOTUS began this year with the Jarkesy decision.
I saw that. Amazing. It says everything about the state of our world that there are people who legitimately thought investing in hawk tuah cryptocurrency was a smart financial decision.
Does nobody read the fine print when investing their money in "clouds in the sky"? Clouds, I hate to inform you, tend to evaporate!
Crypto is an investment like any other. Loosing one's shirt is kind of a given when investing in non-existent ideas. Especially when, intrinsic value is non-existent!
Maybe she can hawk tuah in jail. The number of gullible people has skyrocketed. Trump has slapped his name on bitcoin. Remember everything he touches ….so expect a crash soon enough.
This woman takes pride in teaching 14 year old girls the art of fellatio. This is where we are as a country? Elevating people like this to an admired status?
one advantage of being an old, old boomer is that I have no idea what a "meme coin" is. my modest box of gold buried in the back yard remains undisturbed
It just means it's a new cryptocurrency named after a viral internet video. The video is just a passing comment by a woman about how she spits on dicks when she gives blow jobs. The video made her internet famous and now she's promoting this new coin. It's as stupid as it sounds.
Basically, someone who amasses a big following on social media, and makes content primarily to market products to their audience. It's basically the Millennial/Gen z of a celebrity endorsement.
I thought this was so ridiculous that I wanted to tell my 91-yr old mother. But thinking a/b how to explain that people invested their life savings b/c a stranger who rose to fame after a drunken interview told them to...well, that went from funny to disheartening. What are we becoming? 🤦♀️
“Investing involves risk, including the possible loss of principal. Past performance is not indicative of future results. The value of investments can go up and down, and you may get back less than you originally invested.”
No but it's very easy to use for online crime. How many bitcoin wallets exist just to extort people for money? Now sure there are countless ways to extort people for money online but few as anonymous as bitcoin. It's also had it's fair share of pump and dumps.
This is true, though there are many other crypto coins that were designed with built-in functions for coin tumbling. When centralized exchanges came into the picture, yes, manipulation occurred just as it does in nearly all world markets. The point I'm making is about the decentralized tech itself.
She's the 'hawk tuah" girl...she doesn't understand finance, let alone fake cryptocurrency. All she really knows is how to spit on that thang (which is fuckin' disgusting)!
That’s the American mentality in a nutshell - the anti expertise era where people think social media influencers have any idea what they are talking about
Was thinking earlier how I wish I had bought bitcoin in 2011, and then realized if I had I’d be worth $60 million. And that was an even greater revelation of just how stupid all of this is.
I can’t count the number of women who send me DM’s trying to get me to invest in Crypto. Or the army of attractive oriental women who stalk me on here.
Anyone who invested in a cryptocurrency based on a woman who got famous for talking about how she spits on dicks while giving head deserves to lose all their money
And before someone asks how is crypto not like gold:
If all gold in the world vanished today, pretty much all industry would grind to a halt. Gold is a critical industrial metal. It has real uses and real value.
If every single crypto vanished tomorrow, what would happen?
Scammers don't deserve their money, but anyone betting on a meme coin was just hoping to cash out late enough to not get hurt. They wanted to be the predator, ended up being the prey...
They're also hard to sympathize with. I feel for seniors who get scammed, I don't feel for wannabe crypto-bros who haven't realized that the "easy" money has already been made, and the cost to humanity has been severe. A pox on crypto currency.

I'm not even talking about his politics, he is a con man in his DNA. Remember when he had a Health Care plan?

"Fellow money launderers, this is almost TOO easy!"
Trump, continuing to do Putins work. 🤔
These days, half of America would form a grassroots movement insisting plants crave lighter fluid because they saw it in a TikTok.

I don't like Ted Cruz. But the one thing we agree on is that Bitcoin mining allows renewable energy providers to monetize and invest in more renewable energy production
And if there's anything you can trust then it's the BTC protocol. But whatever you don't seem interested in educating yourself.
Energy use is not energy waste.

…Spitcoin.
Maybe this isn't the worst timeline possible, but it feels like the dumbest.
No thanks.
Call the CFPB before it’s dismantled.
I don’t care how far the line goes up, none of it provides real world function and utility that isn’t done better by traditional software and finance.
"Are We Learning Yet?"
They work so hard to earn a little extra and they invest it in... Hawk Tuah Coins.

SHOCKED!
Also, don't do dumb.
"With a young factory worker who made a passing but memorably colorful reference to oral sex in an internet video, of course."
TREMENDOUS BUYING OPPORTUNITY!!!
Idiots 🙄😆
Pump n dump
They're extremely low value and the margin 'gains' are highly volatile and require multiple decimals to type out.
Much like their origin, they're memes. You aren't meant to take them serious, but ofc, some do
Apparently he is not done scamming people
then you deserve to be fleeced.
Blind faith in Satoshi Nakamoto, no reasoning necessary
“A fool and his/her money are soon parted”.
I know under Trump regime it definitely will be
Nothing's new 💀
They do not deserve pity or a refund.
It’s only a $1,000 a coin !!!!
Anyone getting into a meme coin is doing it in hopes that they will be quick enough to get in early enough to cash out at the peak.
They all should have expected the inevitable rug pull, they are just upset that they were still on the rug.
Make a quick buck and leave everyone else screwed over?
If their whining, they aren’t the alpha. Lol
Yes even bitcoin.
Go back a decade and all the financial giants were saying that it's a scam.
Now they say it's a viable asset to investment in like gold.
What changed? Oh they now offer crypto funds themselves for you to buy.
That's it.
If all gold in the world vanished today, pretty much all industry would grind to a halt. Gold is a critical industrial metal. It has real uses and real value.

And the Justice department will declare public enemy #1: WOKE
Stupidity is still legal.
So they are the ones who will call responsible investors idiots.
The suckers who lost it all sadly are never heard from again.
And even if they did, scammers don't deserve their money.
