Bolivia was saved from socialist dictatorship by this
You'll never guess what happened when he was closing in on the deadline!
Or do you mean people not getting the warning? I think it will sink in more (maybe not enough ofc) once elections draw closer and he has to actually maneuver to get on ballots
I guess if you seize power on day one you have four years to make your position unchallengeable before changing the law by fiat, but it’s a very useful signpost
God save me!
PS. There is no "perfect" President! Ever! Term limits means a government "by the people" not "by one person."
(2) Why not just repeal the damn thing lollllllllll
Maximum two terms as president: resonates with American history and tradition, honors George Washington
Maximum three terms as president: huh??
I continue to think that won't stop him
The bot might even make more sense & be a better president!
Once the flesh dies, the idea will be freed to reign forever
I spent a while during Trump I being more sympathetic to executive term limits than I used to be, but I just doubt they do what you want
Anyway, a few potential examples:
Evo Morales, Bolivia (2019)
Blaise Compaoré, Burkina Faso (2014)
Olusegun Obasanjo, Nigeria (2007)
Frederick Chiluba, Zambia (2002)
Carlos Menem, Argentina (1999)
like go do something else productive for a minute and see if you want to come back
Less necessary in the legislature because membership turnover adds dynamism.
A hearty "lol, lmao" to this
Otherwise, I think term limits, of one form or another, is necessary for presidents, governors, and mayors.

Don’t give an inch to evil.
I'm not a fan of term limits, but the 22nd is in giveth mode right now, so keep it.
A dozen years in state or local office, 20 in the house, and 18 in the senate would make for more than a sufficient career
*arguably more, like I’d be fine lumping the 2006 U.S. attorney firings or Clinton’s pardons in there.
There's probably some comparative stuff out there about if presidential term limits have a positive effect on measures of democratic backsliding. But the dataset is inherently much, much smaller.
1. Term limits mean people are more easily bribeable?
2. Term limits mean there no long-term erm institutional memory?
Outstanding issues:
1. Seniority, especially in the Senate, makes turnover costly for the electorate.
2. No runoffs or public fin. of elections.
No more pardon power and much less Presidential immunity.
nice
Guaranteed with something like this on the line the fascists would try to arrange for more fake electors so it gets "ratified" by enough states.
reagan's corpse vs clinton would have been something
