Good Morning UK (or UK-based) followers, a question:
How many among you have visited London, Edinburgh, Cardiff and Belfast? All four of them I mean?
How many among you have visited London, Edinburgh, Cardiff and Belfast? All four of them I mean?
Comments
Have toured Northern Ireland as well as Ireland though.
I'm for devolution but against nationalism. Not enough space to explain here.
Cardiff- yes. Friend who moved there
Belfast - yes. Sister in law lives there
Edinburgh- holiday.
Tbf I probably wouldn’t have gone to Belfast or Cardiff if I didn’t have family/ friends there.
Been to three? That drops to 60%.
Just one or two? Only 5% likely to respond.
Never been to any? A 100% certainty they'll jump in to say so.
And they're in customs union.
So different economic setup.
Also visited Leeds, Bradford, Sheffield, Bristol, Nottingham, Aberdeen, Coventry. And London, Edinburgh & Cardiff.
But haven’t been to Belfast or Liverpool.
I would like to go, but there's only so many school holidays in a year and if it's a choice between Belfast and an Alpine lake, wir am See gehen!:)
Been to Edinburgh as a child. I'm planning a visit this year.
Not been to Cardiff
During the troubles in the 70s, I travelled through Belfast in a taxis to the ferry. Apparently it was too dangerous any other way. It looked like a war zone.
Historically, because my family is stacked with military and Civil Service and the Troubles were a thing. I am aware they have not been a thing for quite some time.
Went to Uni in London. Edinburgh & Cardiff visited for Rugby League Cup finals
Have made 1 in person trip to Cardiff and 2 to Edinburgh. All for work purposes.
I’d be happy to return to Edinburgh as a tourist.
The government of Ireland doesn't recognise the term 'British Isles' as a description of the whole archipelago inclusive of Ireland.
I've spent a lot of time in Edinburgh and a fair amount in London
Edinburgh was a work event. Cardiff was train to millenium stadium, rugby match, train out. Do either really count as visiting as you mean it?
I live in Belfast and yeah, trips to London a few times to holiday, so proper visiting.
I have tried to work out the biggest city in the UK (by population size) that I have *not* visited and I think it's #Cardiff
What am I missing people? (Apart from the excellent Matsudai Ramen which I am a great fan of, and buy from on line)
But it's true the majority of English in Bristol have never been to Cardiff, and actively don't want to. And a number of Cardiff folk have never been to London and don't see the point of going.
Never made it to Birmingham though.
Twice visited Edinburgh
Live near Cardiff
4/5 times to Belfast
But not even minimally qualified to say anything about them.
Edinburgh and Cardiff- for rugby internationals though had work events on in both.
- I live in London, so… y’know
- I haven’t been to Edinburgh in aaaages
- I’ve only been to Cardiff once
I’ve honestly just never got round to it! Mainly the time. I haven’t been to Edinburgh in a very long time either… both need rectifying
Now interested in the equivalent question with EU capitals, but guess it's not many who's visited all. Even getting past half is doing pretty well if it's not part of your job
Edinburgh 10s of times.
Cardiff maybe 3-5.
Belfast 1 if I remember rightly.
( No reflection on the cities, more a reflection on where travelling for work takes you in the UK )
ps - NI has diff devo reason (see 1921-1972 period)
pps - for a devo thing, nb Sco and NI are also separate jurisdictions, cf E&W, and Sco has differently founded type of law, more like Europe not like England.
