the last point i’ll make here is that @chatterton.bsky.social is performing a familiar move, which is equating rationality with a particular affect and style of discourse (self satisfied chin-stroking) bemoaning the absence of rational discourse, but never actually engaging seriously with critics.

We let him bring a dish to the potluck, it's not our fault he can't cook

Put here to provide content, but all we can do is follow our script.
( sarcasm for the literalists)
Almost as if the threat they imagine they live under is...
So yes, I have read his posts

Just find these dynamics interesting, about whose ideas “should” be engaged point by point
Not as good with words as you.
Point taken.

Original thought, wit, and the ability to write with style and panache about difficult subjects seem strangers to the fellow, besides.
I think he might be a teensy bit envious of you.
every accusation is a confession etc
For example, if 99.9% of climate scientists say the same thing, that isn’t evidence that they’re looking at the same reality. Instead, it’s evidence of coordination and mind control.
That aside, conservatives aren't usually very good at thinking like people; they tend to be too psychopathic to understand the sane human mind.
He even says it himself in "trying to remain in the liberal center" as the goal instead of "trying to uncover truth" (or something along those lines).
Much of their work seems to suggest that to have a distinct ideology is incompatible with being moderate
You and TCW surely agree on far more than you disagree—yet for personal reasons and misunderstanding, you’re at each other’s throats.
The right exploits that.

More than a few of the Rufo-pilled started out by someone being mean to them on the social mediases.
I say this not to savage the left per se, as to observe that a lot of us that agree on fundamental things seem to be bludgeoning each other lately over nitpicks and strategic disagreements.
Maybe that’s healthy, or whatever.
How can he bemoan discourse when it's a one way street? We're just supposed to consume this clowns opinions without asking questions or questioning his logic?
There's no discourse if only one side is allowed to engage.
