I always wonder what exactly they feel they’ve “won”. Indifference? Inattention? Complete apathy? Hope they enjoy it as they spiral when they have no one to harass 🤷
It's like they don't know what to do when they don't have someone to spew their toxicity onto. I'm surprised they don't beg people to stay. " Please don't block me. I need you!"
Blocked belligerents always make me think of the furious dogs that bark at me or my dogs from the other side of a really thick window, making no sound I can hear.
I just envision them sitting in a little white room with no windows and talking to himself. ‘Yeah he bocks me means I won. Do you hear me, I’m a winner’. But there’s only the white room and nobody can hear him to answer.
I like to imagine that these dudes never turn off their TV or radio in order to keep the channel/station they're tuned to from "winning" by them turning them off or changing the channel/station.
I'm thinking that's a wind only for those who can't achieve anything better. Perhaps even complete a Sudoku puzzle at Easy level, with notes, and an eraser.
Its like getting into a UFC bout, Beating the ever living life out of the other guy, and when the referee goes to say you won the match, putting the poor referee in a sleeper hold, and then continuing to beat the heck out of the other guy, and finally as the ref wakes up getting your towel...📜
There's just no end to this kind of daftness, is there?
They come up with something and I think, surely we're at the end of stupidity. Then they innovate.
I spend time on newskies, mostly encouraging use of alt text. Some first posts have 3 random insults. I take the time to block as a matter of first contact.
Sometimes when someone makes a big show of wanting to be blocked I just mute them instead. I don't give them the satisfaction and am done with them either way.
I especially enjoyed those on Twitter.. Had zero tolerance for bots, trolls and asshats, probably a longer block list than follows... Here it's mostly been preemptive blocks, so far for me...
Send it as a DM for extra. AFAIK, replying in a thread will make it vanish for them when you block, a DM doesn't disappear unless they delete the conversation.
This influx has resulted in a lot of new blocks by me, and . . . it's fun. It's the social media equivalent of a don't trespass order, with immediate enforcement.
Whatever it takes for some people to feel like a winner, I guess. I block for the same reason I lock my doors and windows at home: so some random asshole can’t just waltz right in and start trashing the place.
Even for people I disagree with, I’ve maintained that refusing to continue an internet argument is not an admission of defeat. Many of us need to preserve our mental health by not documenting every single argumentative fallacy of our opponent.
I see that as a chance to try and make other people happy. Do you need to know you beat me at a debate we didn't have? Sure, There you go, buddy. Enjoy the win.
Blocking people when they complain about blocking is deeply hilarious to me for some reason. It’s “pirate Yosemite Sam opens a hatch to find yet another cannon pointed at him” funny.
I'm just imagining someone standing in an empty, echoing room yelling "that means I win! I win, do you hear me? I! Win!" as the camera pans back to show just how alone he is.
They default to some of the most junior high debate tactics I've ever seen and I'm able to detect quickly. It's also very easy to predict their arguments in advance because they are like a hive of parrots.

I block people for the same reason I scrape dog shit off my shoe.
I’ve gone power mad.
This moose suggested:
"For extra snark send them a 🏆icon and then block. 3:O)>"
Which I now do, with a 10 minute delay (or so) between my reply and the block going in.
Block early, block often.
They come up with something and I think, surely we're at the end of stupidity. Then they innovate.
I don't even care what the original issue was, you get another one from me.
Now that's being a weirdo.
Sometimes I'll even type the reply out on the off chance they see it and then wait like, 60 seconds before blocking 🤣

Normal person: *Blocks troll*
Troll: "Goddamn it, he won."
just nothing massive like @blocktogether yet

He gets to feel smug, and you never need to deal with him again.
But fuck me, they are boring. Always the same. Nothing new. And they think they’re clever 😴 Might as well dunk on a 3 year old
Blocking is more satisfying
