Or, what if there were two plays on the same night in different cities. One play is set in the present and the characters receive a phone call from the future. The other play is the same characters in the same settings but older and they call the past which is the other play in the other city.
I’m pretty sure they have. I think Dot Cotton or someone said more or less exactly those words on one of Corrie’s big anniversaries (50th? 60th?). Just as a little nod of respect.
…For instance, in the (brilliant) Endeavour, Dorothea Frazil (played by Abigail Thaw) upon meeting Morse says, "Haven't we met before?" He says no. As he walks away, she says "...maybe in another life...", referring to the fact that the original Morse was played by John Thaw, her dad.
I love these kind of moments... classic example... Stakeout (1987) Emelio Esteves and Richard Dreyfuss, playing movie line trivia while passing time during a police stakeout:
Esteves to Dreyfus, "This was not a boating accident!" Dreyfuss: "I don't know."
Estevez: "You're hopeless!"
01632 and 07700 in the UK - kept reserved as fake codes so that people don’t get called unexpectedly by people who can’t determine fact from fiction. Used in books and plays as well as tv/film.
Do you know why that is? It's because historically that was the directory enquiries number and so if an idiot tries to call, that's what they'd have got.
The Shivah and one of the Blackwell games by Wadjet Eye (don't remember which one). In Blackwell, you can use the phone to call a certain number, and talk to the rabbi from Shivah; in Shivah, at a certain point the phone rings, you can pick it up and talk to the girl from Blackwell. Nice touch.
I didn't see your take and honestly don't know if it's good or not. It was a response to the idea of having a character call someone in another piece of media.
Exactly! Altho I might try doing it like they do in films and see if people accept it or get pissed off. Just hang up on a work Teams call with a worried look on my face.
Spike Milligan could have written something like that. One of the Goon Shows had characters in 1600 and 1957 interacting including burying treasure in 1600 in a hole dug in 1957. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b007jp91
A movie scene where someone dials a wrong number and accidentally ends up calling a character from an entirely different film could be cinematic gold. Imagine a rom-com lead accidentally calling John Wick or a superhero calling Saul Goodman. The crossover potential is endless!
Christian Marclay The Clock does it. Clips from films running for 24 hours showing or referring to the time, but doors open in one film and another person in another film comes through another door. Some clips on YouTube. It's brilliant.
There should be two soap operas running simultaneously, where the main characters in one are extras in the other. Example: first soap opera run in a restaurant, where the second comes to diner. One is the background of the other.
That could be a very funny sketch in the UK for #ComicRelief, between the various soaps, Eastenders/Coronation Street/Emmerdale - and even better to include Pobl Y Cwm. https://www.comicrelief.com/

I'm not sure I have that level of knowledge of the material in question.
COOL idea!

I feel so wise and learned.
Maybe Family Matters and Full House? Did Cheers and Frasier ever run concurrently?
