There is a certain wisdom in keeping some things to ourselves. It's always a good excuse to say you've made some good stock investments that have bumped up your income via dividends. As long as you're not too overly obvious about it.
It’s also what happens when someone gets sober. I see it all the time. Suddenly they are in therapy, going to the dr, seeing the dentist, buying groceries.
It’s important to note, states like California Oregon and Washington have minimum wages higher than most European nations so it would be wise for Europeans to remember the USA is not the United States of Texas.
I often imagine winning the lottery, and these are things I envision as a result.
It's ridiculous that our educational system doesn't teach our people how to use our economic system.
Everyone should know what the "1%" know about how to make money, how to manage money and how to turn money into more.
This all happened in 2020-2021, when I was working on average of 50 hours a week due to working overtime. Looking back at all the times I've had a sudden windfall of money, I immediately went to the doctor/dentist/therapist. I also had enough money for my hobbies for the first time in a while.
The 1% have designed the system to where the poors can't boycott the billionaires, because the billionaires enjoy monopolies on just about every product and service available.
Oh I would definitely not tell a soul. First my debts paid off, teeth pulled and implant dentures. Then I would pay off school lunch debts for all the kids in my area. Probably pay for their lunches through the school year. Set up a scholarship fund for 10 kids who wouldn’t be able to go.
It cuts down on people trying to scam money for their own personal gains. Being anonymous means the focus is on a trust that gives out scholarships for college, trade school and certifications.
The parents voted for him yes but the children didn’t. It’s the children who are suffering for the parents idiotic decisions. A small gesture of kindness can change the lives of the innocent ones.
Yes.. but they did not have their kids’ best interests in mind did they? How bad is it going to get for the parents to realise trump and his admin does not give a fuck about them or any American?
Something they should tell you when you have diabetes & thyroid diseases that they don't always: these can affect your gums & cause tooth loss even if you have healthy teeth.
If you are without health insurance for extended periods & off meds for those conditions, it can be far-reaching.
Americans don't need to win the lottery. They can't change the political system, or the president-elect and the shit show he'll preside over. But they could try emigrating to a civilised country: one with proper healthcare, and hardly any gun deaths.
Ah yes, moving, not like that is super expensive, especially across the world, and it's not like your country makes it hard to immigrate there if you have any pre-existing medical conditions or try to find a good job there. Get bent, asshole hope Daddy cuts you off from his money
Funny I was just thinking the same, anticipating my ticket today is a winner, I thought I can possibly get my teeth cleaned… not that they are in disrepair, but it’s expensive and I’m on social security
Not just America... dental care is not covered by Medicare in Australia and mental health care coverage is laughable so yes you need money to be healthy.
Same in the UK. Dentists were mostly NHS, but they left en masse decades ago because they weren't earning enough. UK mental health care is also a joke. I was on the verge of a total breakdown at 8 months pregnant, and psychologist waitlist was 5 weeks. Had to get a huge dose of valium from the GP.
Not quite … With the global population estimated at approximately 8 billion people, his net worth of 400+ billion equates to about $55 to $61 per person.
I used to lose a lot of sleep over the plight of my poorer neighbors, but after so many of them decided to either vote for Trump, et. al., or not to vote at all .... I'm sleeping much better. Who am I to judge them for exercizing their free will. "I'm going to be less judgy" is my New Year's Rezzo.
I wonder how much abuse us working class folks will be willing to take before 💩 hits the fan. I'm not advocating for violence. That being said, it seems like society is on that trajectory since vigilanteism is on the rise. I hope I'm wrong, but I've seen this coming for years.
Some astrologers believe that Pluto in Aquarius signifies the Dawn of Global Consciousness- along with other things. But we do know that Pluto tends to reveal the shadow side of whatever sign it transits. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V2o7-Vw4kDQ
I limped in pain for 4 years with a deteriorated hip because I couldn't afford insurance. On crutches for 7 mo. Biden lowered premiums & this year, I got a new hip. Why is this happening in the richest country on the planet?
Because ALL the wealth in this Country is HELD by about 10% of the population! The rest of us are the ones who DID the WORK at low wages to make the RICH people RICH in the first place!
I had a CONSULT with an oral surgeon recently about one wisdom tooth. Lasted about 5 minutes. 1 X Ray was taken. He charged $2,200. Our system is so broken in so many ways.
I broke my wrist at midnight, slept with it on a bag of ice, went into work, worked the whole morning, at lunch went downstairs to have it looked at…yes, I was working in a hospital. Got X-rays, a cast, went back to my desk and finished the day.
Terrible. A friend of mine moved to Texas from Finland (where we have a health insurance as part of the state of Finland) because of his job as a programmer.
When he got a heart attack, he didn't have the right kind of an insurance, so they let him die.
I know someone who won millions of dollars and didn't tell his family. They found out later by looking him up to see why he was so obviously wealthy. Sad thing is, for some of his family members $100 K would have made a huge difference to their lives.
The extreme lack of access to mental health care is horrifying.
I wouldn’t wish that anguish on anyone.
Same with recovery. No one should ever be put in the position where they’re dying from an eating disorder, their insurance doesn’t cover treatment, so it’s either pay at least $20K, or die.
My campaign promise: Not only will mental health care be free, therapy will be mandatory. Starting with the boomers, aka, the largest demographic of undiagnosed and untreated mental health issues.
It’s a shame that dental health care isn’t treated as important as the rest, but damn, even imagining a world where dental is the only health thing I have to pay for sounds like heaven 😭
Oh no, bless, there’s plenty more. But yeah there is a safety net and if you know how to play and are lucky then most things can be solved without insurance or paying at the point of delivery. I’m not knocking it except when it goes wrong, which is often.
I'm talking about government-run healthcare who could decide I don't deserve to get treatment for something or too old. The private market is the best. Allow it to cross state lines to allow for more competition and put a cap on what insurance agencies can charge, depending on circumstances.
If a person obsessively collects more toilet paper, cats, or bottles than they need, they're a hoarder, but if they collect more dollars than they could ever spend while other people are STARVING, they're heroes.
You remind me of this TedTalk by Gabor Mate about addiction. He, rightly, I think, points out that this striving & hoarding behavior on the part of the rich & powerful could be recognized as addiction.
When poor people hoard things, we make television programs about them, gawk at them, feel sorry for them, and get them mental health treatment if we can.
That's what MVP Harris and Senator Warren were striving for - not necessarily taxing them out of existence, but making them pay their fair share for the privileges they enjoy at the very least
Dump supporters don't know the corporate tax rate used to be 28%
Hello everyone. Anyway the blood of Jesus Christ against all fallen angels spirits with in any humans or by any humans who is reading this. In Jesus christ name go back to hell and never come back.
Well, it’s the sad truth for us.
My husband needs thousands of dollars worth of dental work. We have dental insurance but it is nowhere near enough.
We’re in the process of trying to figure out how to make it happen and how long that will take.
Yep, dental insurance is the WORSE! They make you wait 2 yrs to have any MAJOR work done then will only pay for about half of it! So really only people with LOTS of money can afford to have any kind of reconstructive dental work done!

No health insurance, no doctor, dentist, eyecare visits since 2009.
Eyesight poor. 2 broken molars. Glasses frame broke this yr so I dremeled my lenses and fit them into a $9 pair of reading glasses frames. Ha! Otherwise good health and no RXs so far!
Can we have M4All now?
Real, first thing I'd do is get all the finances in order and then buy a house. A modest one, doesn't have to be pricy or big. Just a place to live and grow
In all seriousness, at this point for me it would also include immigration to a foreign country that's not about to be led by an orange idiot and his equally stupid and corrupt goons.
This hits. I grew up poor and had none of these things, except for our school mandated physicals. Now, as an upper middle class adult, I have all of these things and feel rich AF.
Because we are kept burned out on our jobs and paying off debt to take the time to see the corporate thieves taking the $$$ out of our pockets. #classconciousness
What's truly sad about needing dental work when you can't afford the care is that you can't mention it to people because they'll respond, "you need to go to the dentist".
They simply don't think that the reason you don't is because you can't afford the care.
It was because the US athletes could not afford health care in the US.
If you've ever endured a period of time being uninsured, you would understand. Most people, the second they have health/dental insurance, they basically become this meme.
I do understand. My point was we could all go to a dentist, had access, it wasn’t an issue, because of the system in the UK. It was the comparison of the two systems.
I would up sticks and move to a different country without telling anyone, apart from 3 people, two of whom don’t live in this country, and one of whom I would move with me as they, also, have no one in this country.
It's a deep pocket that requires cleaning and stitches -- or a bone graft once it's opened up. I'm in New Mexico. US estimate was a ridiculous $4300 and they compared it to getting a filling, FFS.
Lots of people in my area go to Palomas for dental and vision work. Even meds are OTC.
I went to work for the last month with an untreated broken metatarsal because it happened at home and I couldn't afford to miss work and I can't do my job in a cast.
Tight socks and work boots and paying close attention to where my weight is being carried. Because it's my middle toe metatarsal, I was able to walk by keeping the weight on the outside of my foot.
I went to work with laryngitis, once .I couldn’t make sound. I worked in retail sales ….clocked in and had to pretend to work. No sick days 🤷♀️ It was Christmas so we didn’t get paid unless we showed up.
All work is essential. No job is unskilled. Healthcare shouldn't be tied to your job. I know I'm preaching to the choir but we should never stop saying it.
Billionaires don’t seem to understand that most people don’t want more than one home, more clothes or cars than they can ever wear or drive, exotic vacations. We want to be healthy and housed and nourished and educated and gainfully employed. We don’t want more than enough, as they do.
The system we have where corporate and billionaire behavior doesn't voluntarily promote philanthropy is broken. Rules and laws are needed to force them, and now!
So true! They have NO IDEA how the working class lives because they've NEVER LIVED It! Yet too many DUMBA$$ people think someone like Trump & Musk is going to make their lives better instead of choosing Kamala who HAS LIVED it and KNOWS what WE need!😠
Right? Seriously I used to dream of winning the lottery. A million would do. Buy a house. Give some to my kids. Never have to worry about paying a bill, or flying somewhere on a whim. I don’t care if it’s $10M, or $50M. Even half a million would change my life. Why do they just keep wanting more?
Because they didn't get the love they needed when they were little, and now we all suffer for it. They think they need the bolstering of material wealth in order to fill this huge hole inside them. Therapy would help, but first, they'd have to acknowledge that there's a problem...
this was a thing I observed when people were dissing on Tim Walz for not having extensive investments. 'what does he need investments for? he and gwen have some pensions and a house and enough other money to live comfortably in retirement and ideally leave a bit to the kids.'
I’m beginning to see how most of us can truely grasp that having excess is a burden and that we have the privilege of knowing the pleasure of “enough”.
The ultra wealthy are mentally ill with addiction issues that we are told are virtues
Don't forget about free time and disposable income for hobbies that are nowhere near as expensive as the things rich people only buy to show off! Some people might think that's not necessary, but fun and relaxation is important for your health too!
Too bad they don't realize that they can't take their money with them to the grave and it won't last more than 2-3 generations cuz the descendants will fight each other over it until its all gone.
Billionaires are like male bodybuilders who have taken way too many steroids or women who have 3 plastic surgeries too many. They think they look better than everyone else, when in fact anyone with common sense knows how screwed up they are.
I've always had these uncomfortable conversations with Directors or VPs where there was this huge disconnect because of the assumption I was as endlessly ambitious as they are
One conversation with a (small company) CEO where the theme was that I am insignificant
You hit the point my brilliant baby sister rests her loathing of the current state of things on...
That there are SOME obscenely wealthy people for whom there is never ENOUGH. Millions, billions, never enough $$$. A personal jet, not enough, need to ride a $paceship.
You can spot who has had a payday
just check out the car they are driving
it is as easy as it was in the 1950s by looking at what kind of shoes a person was wearing.
YIKES! and all you Americans still have the audacity to put your hands on your hearts and call yourself the greatest country in the world? most of what is portrayed here is pretty standard stuff for western democracies! and god help you all with a fascist criminal mafia syndicate coming back in Jan
Faacts! Folks would be like "I'm gonna pay of this bill and that bill. Fixing to fill up the tank, get a month's worth of groceries. I can finally get _____ fixed".
If flossing adds 10 years to your life expectancy, I wonder if not flossing can cause brain rot. Worms probably travel up the root canal and lay eggs there. 🪱🧠

Blood money isn't wealth.
Proper grocery trips would be nice too
You are right, cooking for people without teeth is difficult.
Eating in public without them is difficult.
Appearing in public without them takes all my 'don't give a fucks.'

And $350 versus $4,300.

But in England big yes. I know a number of people with no dentist.
No, thank you.
You don't have to use it. If you don't want to.
What the fuck.

You must still be relatively young, as well? (under 50?) I wish you continued good health!
They simply don't think that the reason you don't is because you can't afford the care.
Because 'Murica is the greatest country in history!!! /s

I talked to other Americans in the waiting room. Repeat, happy customers. Loved the doc and going back for the procedure.
Palomas was very cool - great shopping, margaritas and food.
Lots of people in my area go to Palomas for dental and vision work. Even meds are OTC.
-Sorry to all Americans for our European ignorance.
