Debora Iyall is one of a very small handful of people that I keep Instagram around for. She's still making and performing music and it makes me so happy
I wa thinking of Echo Beach by Martha and the Muffins and songs by The English Beat but until I saw a Romeo Void reference I wasn't sure I should say that
Livid Festival '95. Never heard of them until then, and was going to a different stage, but the music was so powerful, we were drawn in and became firm fans.
If I think of sax in rock, it's them and Bowie
Please. It's bad enough I have to play with these things that treat key signatures as a suggestion. 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Well, on consideration, I suppose it would be an improvement.
It is a thing in metal, though half of it is just guest appearances by Jørgen Munkeby 😜
Some examples are Ihsahn (check out On The Shores), Sigh, White Ward, Hail Spirit Noir, Shining (Munkeby's own band) and Ghost (Miasma)
Lots of Saxophone use and solos. Beautiful piano. Dylan/Petty sounding vocals. Great lyrics that crest imagery. Awesome guitar and bass. One of the better bands of the last decade and might quell your Sax thirst 🤷♂️!
Oh my god it is so sad that no one is talking about the insane sax going on in Guys on Every Corner. The first time I heard the song, homie brought the sax on stage one song early to let the audience simmer over it and holy shit did it work ❤️🔥❤️🔥
the musician Clairo has done this! i saw her a year ago and it felt like every song had a sax solo, there were 2 sax players on the stage, it was great actually turns out that’s the right number of sax players
I'm not going to go through the whole thread but, The Psychedelic Furs, The English Beat, Howard Jones, hell... new wave was full of saxes. Oh, TV on the Radio, for something from this century.
I got taken slightly against my will to see INXS by a boyfriend in the early 90s. I was into somewhat harder rock and the NEC was always a rubbish venue, but I still maintain that was one of the best gigs I’ve ever been to.
I see a lot o' homage for "the big man," but before Clemmons, there was Clifford Scott (Bill Doggett's Honky Tonk) and Lee Allen (various Little Richard cuts). Let us not forget our ancestors.
I was in off-duty rock and roll bands my whole Air Force career! We would’ve burned our equipment and taken up knitting before we would’ve played anything like that!
Love Mr. Bungle!! They're self-titled album is one of my all-time personal favorites! They're who introduced me to avant-garde metal. DFD was a natural progression from there 🤘
Caught them opening for System of a Down in '99-ish. What a ruckus that show was. But if you like Mr Bungle I highly recommend doing a deep dive into Dog Fashion Disco! Their side projects (Polkadot Cadaver, El-Creepo, Knives Out, Alter Boys) are amazing too!

Not sure I've heard many of these outside of Frank Zappa's bands, but I love them
And yay!
Loved Huey Lewis & The News. They were the best.
McCartney also has saxophones in his albums and shows.
i listed some songs i liked where i thought that the sax solo really worked.
and i called Kenny G brilliant.

Not too shabby, right?
Trumpets and other brass instruments are for the rocknrole.
1 - He doesn't know about the vampires.
2 - He knows and doesn't care (not likely)
3 - He knows and is too scared (not possible)
