The love of my life had not one good tooth when we started dating.
Now he has dentures. He’s just as much to me as anyone with teeth - if not more. I was with him during the extractions. He’s a tough cookie. He’s also an amazing man❤️
One of my earlier sexual encounters was with someone missing some teeth and it was actually quite .. charming. Not to mention the smack-head rent boy I dated for 3 months in Manchester who'd nip off to do a quick gob-job when it was his turn to buy a round. It didn't last.
0.5-3.5% of ppl are blind or significantly visually impaired, I think
So the thinking here is that every poster on every visual short form platform needs to provide additional annotation, potentially doubling the text/effort put in to every post, so a fraction of those non-visual ppl have context?
As someone who can't hear for shit, I really appreciate subtitles when they are available. The flipside of that is that someone who can't see for shit is gonna appreciate alt text.
As a general principle, accessibility and inclusion is great. However, on the surface, this seems like an unrealistic and impractical ask of users writ large
If ppl choose to do it, great. Pressuring ppl to do it though…
It's a real pain building that handicap access ramp, especially since only 0.5-3.5% of people actually use it. It seems unrealistic and impractical that we should expect businesses to build them.
Nobody chooses to be blind, which is why nobody deserves to be punished or excluded for being blind. (Yes, this covers anything about human bodies that we do not choose - gender, skin color, etc.)
(Also: I want everyone to know what I have to say, this is A+ material here, folks.)
The day will come when you need accommodations that most able bodied people do not. Nobody who lives a full long life escapes this fate. Accommodations will benefit you one day, unless too many agree with you and find them impractical.
So the thinking here is that every poster on every visual short form platform needs to look at posts of podcasters, potentially doubling the harm felt by every post, so a fraction of those podcasters think they shouldn't end it?
Ppl use alt text and readers for reasons well beyond being blind. Also, though? I have a rare autoimmune disease. I still deserve to be included and it tells me something when someone decides I’m not worth a few minutes.
Also, if that’s not enough of a reason, you can add little jokes or better explanation of the image in there if it is not clear. And if you search for an old post, the alt text is part of search, which can be helpful later.
this
I refuse to reskeet anyone who hasn't included alt text (not that dril cares about a smol account like me!)
if bigger accounts included it—and ideally educated / encouraged their followers to also do so—bsky would feel like the more inclusive place it was in the early days

ppl with vision impairment typically use screen readers which read the alt text aloud. without it, these users are excluded from knowing you've posted a cute pic of your dog, which meme/gif you've used, or what a text-based screenshot says. alt text is also helpful for ppl with cognitive impairment.
Teeth are the bureaucracy of the mouth. Get rid of them and you are left with raw, sexual function. A tongue unchained, gums working softly over the hard architecture of need.
Go ahead. Enter that wet, toothless abyss of new flesh.
It will change you, boy.
Kind of rude, i was in an accident that knocked out a few teeth, I don't socialize anymore because of it. When I used yo be a pretty well liked person. Its because of this stuff. Not all people missing teeth are drug addicts
My partner has always had brittle teeth and he did Muay Thai and MMA for a while so he has a few broken teeth. I met him after the fact. I did not care. The goal is to save up and help him get it fixed eventually. Plenty of people understand dental care is a luxury, go out and smile 💛
exactly. my BF got slammed in the face with a skateboard in his teens and could never afford to fix his teeth. he’s always worried people are staring and judging.
It’s not about dating someone without teeth but “dating some one toothless” as in multiple people who are all missing one tooth. The joke is that the OP is an idiot that doesn’t know the difference between someone and some one.
During covid I went on 3 dates with someone missing a few teeth I didn't know because of the masks. She was awesome wish it had worked out I honestly didn't care about it once I got to know her.
Remember that scene in that jim carrey movie? Seriously, when reading this my first thought wasn’t drug users at all. I heard of people who have lost all their teeth due to a mixture of clenching their teeth due to stress & cavities because of excessive sugar consumption (it’s hard to be american)

Oh wait, we used to do this! Made things completely inaccessible for people with disabilities. Still do, but ADA exists.
Should we go back to that?
Being kind costs you nothing.

It was a feature that no one asked for and that practically no one would use; a poor product decision made by PMs w no product sense
It would prove to have no PMF what so ever

From what I understand, it's just a means of adding a caption to a photo.

Both pre-transition in my 30's with a lovely woman who had a bone density disorder that took all her teeth and went down on me.
And post-transition me who lost all my front teeth also due to a bone density issue, who's been told my blowjobs are S-tier.

In order to eat peanuts together.

Ok, maybe not now that I think about that.
