I like how the you filled out the alt text. You should treat that as part of the comic itself, as part of the entire media. It shouldn’t give away everything word by word.
I’m sorry blind people, but I want the alt text to be subversive and actively part of the media itself.
Oh and the point here is that it’s funny how the alt text gives the reader insight into your intention that otherwise isn’t present in comics. I think people will read it though so you should consider it to be also an extension of the comic, a place to be creative/humorous.
I need someone to write an essay about why women cartoonists do this. I mean, I KNOW why, I just want someone else to pull all the strings together.
But there's a surprising lot of cartoonists who draw themselves as shlubby little gremlins who are anything but...but then I draw myself as a rabbit🤷♂️
Is it on Apple Podcasts? I don't want to access a streaming service that closes off its podcasts, hires Joe Rogan, and doesn't pay any of its "content creators" generating less than 1K streams.
I felt like such a grown up, reading Cathy when I was out with my mom for breakfast when I was 9. I was like, oh I think I get this. Can I get a quarter to go play Ladybug?
I remember watching illegally-uploaded episodes of the animated series on YT in middle school. It is still pretty hilarious (though their focus on conspiracy theories is alarming in hindsight). Wally was voiced by Helen Hunt's dad, veteran voice director Gordon Hunt.
I find Helen Hunt to be so interesting. Could never figure out if she was hot or not. The shower scene in Twister still throws me back and forth. She was great in Mad About You. Cool trivia fact!
Yup. XKCD turned out to be what Dilbert strived to be. Also, unlike Scott Adams, Randall Munroe isn't a racist asshole (I know this for a fact, because I've met Randall in my life twice).
I'm not too familiar with Cathy. I was around but didn't read it much. But if the ack is about nearly every panel being pretty much identical, to be fair, David Lynch did the same thing and it's one of my favorite comics ever. I must share it again in honor of him. 💜
Cathy didn't reuse panels quite like that I erased her entirely to do a Garfield Minus Garfield sort of thing and it made me giggle. It was something about the coffee cup just on the sofa got me when I made that.
I'd say that I'd hit on her if we met, but I know from experience that ppl who are too attractive to me take me years to get up the nerve to speak a single sentence to without breaking out in giggles. My SO knew me for roughly 4 years before I was able to pull that off, & almost 10 before we dated
i met the cartoonist of cathy a few years ago and i told her i make a comic “that’s kinda like cathy but twenty-something and trans” anyway, she was very nice
When I was a kid I had an imaginary friend that looked exactly like Cathy, because I saw a picture of her on a sign at the mall. She lived under my bed and ate only cheese.
I liked the part when she said "CHOCOLATE CHOCOLATE CHOCOLATE AAAACK" when looking at herself in a bikini during a date and simulatenously getting put down by her mom.

Which isn't much, but it's weird it's happened twice.

"Whaaat? No, Irving. Of course not, Irving. Irving. IR-ving. Irrrrr-viiiiing."
