i’ve seen people say “celebrating the CEO dying is bad, talk to people in real life you’ll see” i’ve talked to people and they all think it’s cool as hell

my centrist, incredibly normie insurance agent brother-in-law with a rather conservative wife is sending out memes about it on the in-laws group text lmao
No topic that comments on or critiques how our society is structured is apolitical.
It just so happens that some politics are near-universally agreed upon, and huge amounts of resources are poured into obfuscating that fact, so we stay divided and don't organize to act on those politics.
even people ive talked with who are saying it was bad are still not terribly sad about it as far as I can tell, and if they are its usually just because of the precedent it could set
I still feel conflicted - murder is murder and not right but this is such an evil industry I totally see why it happened and I suspect it won't stop there.
I just hope some good comes from it. The billionaires and politicians do need to fear the people. That's the point of democracy.
Personally, I don’t feel all that conflicted. If we consider other circumstances where certain murders are celebrated due to the absolute devastation the person has done— it’s not a “problem” then.
Someone killing others en masse through policy is still killing.
It was a person who was literally advocating for a significant decrease in the quality of life for others, even to the point of severe suffering and death, simply so he could line his own pockets.
He was allegedly involved in insider trading, too.
I say deserved cus it was his greed that made the company deny the claims. I've been scorned by health insurance companies. That's why I say what I do. I wouldn't say hypocrite. Idk what I'd call it tho but I wouldn't say hypocrite
More just befuddled? It seems like a waste of energy to be saddened by the death of an evil person, but of course you can't change how you feel on the inside that easily so fair enough
Yeah, I was denied for brain surgery two weeks beforehand. I wonder: Who's next? The right wing wackos are not the only ppl to erect the gallows... simply look to the workers during the French Revolution, or the Russian Revolution. And those kids didnt have the internet!
If anything, online world has a much higher percentage of hand wringing fake sympathy. Ask a random grandma and she goes “well he wasn’t a very good person was he”
I would say if there’s one thing from online to talk about with people on real life it’s this. Probably won’t get another thing happening that will be so universally positively received for a while
I was speaking to some of the benefits team at work and they were all "yeah that makes sense we come in to advocate for denied claims from employees for our insurance company he probably deserved it"
I actually dedicated Another One Bites The Dust to Henry "Enrique" Tarrio, in case the Proud Boys get any ideas of coming back to Portland once Trump pardons them. The hero of united healthcare came up during a riff in the middle of "Amerika" by Rammstein iirc
We actually just last Saturday passed the 36th anniversary of the Ramstein Flugtagungluck, the famous air show disaster that killed 70 people, and which the band Rammstein is named after. #history
my co-workers were talking about the story and we were all chuckling over it like it wasn't a big deal at all, funniest shit ever. i think the theatricality of the murder plays a lot into how even normies just react with amusement to it all
It's sort of like watching an unrepentant mass murderer "get his" on live TV.
I'm sorry for his family, but daddy bought them that house in return for killing innocent people who ALSO had families (whom daddy left broke and in-debt).
I used to be an insurance agent and once upon a time wrote health insurance and even I’m celebrating it. I never thought I’d be this bloodthirsty, but I’ve seen some shit.
I am sad for the family, and the fact that he has lost all future opportunity to do good in the world. I do not condone his murder, but I 100% understand why/how it happened. And nobody should be surprised.
only sympathy I have is for the family of the dead CEO, like kids or whatnot, given how idk if life insurances pay for murders all the time, they wiggle out if they can outside that I can't really say much but 'This was bound to happen' with how many people have been lost due to greed in those CEOs.
yeeeep i mean again very little sympathy outside if any kids are involved since kids are blameless. the dude that died? Can't show a shred if it was bound to happen ya know?
I remember agreeing with my very-offline mother about being sad Trump didn't die getting shot, and we're not even American. People just love when wealthy and bad people die, it's a simple fact of life.
"Violence is always bad" is actually a terminally online take. If you touch grass you will almost immediately recognize situations in which violence is good
Yeah here in South Dakota there is a general "oh murder is wrong" but since this a big Blue Cross/Shield state people are happy they rolled back the anesthetic cut off after the assassination.
Almost like the credible threat of violence is the only ultimatum with any stopping power. The ruling class knows this, that's why they spend so much of our tax money on things like law enforcement and the military.
I would never engage in or promote violence. That's why I encourage governments and businesses to listen to peaceful protesters before they become violent. Once that happens, I only feel sympathy for the bystanders who get hurt.
Yep. You push people to the edge repeatedly and I don't know what else people can expect. If our government is supposed to represent the people's desires and they fail so incredibly badly for so long the only outlet is forcing them to take us seriously.
Americans are starved for justice. Some might argue this CEO was no victim, but a perpetrator of a legal genocide—amassing staggering wealth behind the shield of policy. His actions profited from human suffering, turning lives into commodities and imposing death sentences for gain.
I mean, 74k people laugh reacting to UHGs official FB post tells me people do, infact, find it rad to laugh at dead CEO's and everyone wants to be rad.
You can really see the disconnect between this and major news media that seem to only be discussing what this means for protecting CEO’s in the future.
It’s going to be the only way to fix a lot of shit if our greedy politicians are not careful. And I’m not saying I have any plans, in case the DOJ is reading these posts. 😉
I'm hoping he never gets caught and that he is forever a martyr of the class war waged on us by the wealthy. That would be the worst possible outcome for the billionaires, which is why they're making such a stink about finding him.
Insisting that celebrating the death of a man responsible for mass Social Murder and the emiseration of countless people is BAD is, I think, a sign of needing to touch grass. Like, that displays a profound alienation from the realities of everyday Americans.
NOW the rich are ever so scared. What are they afraid of? Isn't this the America they bribed congress to create? Isn't this what they wanted? Are they not fucking entertained?
They helped create this entire fiasco we're all living in, and they want to cry about it.
During Trumps first term while I was volunteering at a food pantry somehow the subject of Betsy DeVos came up and the little old lady who was shopping leaned over to me and goes "Ohh she should be shot"
I mean… not to point fingers or celebrate gun violence in America but it’s great that the fucks that enabled this level of dystopia finally hit the FAFO end game. Hopefully this is either a stepping stone or a wake up call but judging by our track record in America gun violence is a fast slope.
Being murdered shouldn’t be glorified first off..but I understand why people are mad at him! Let them do their investigation before making any conclusions. There will be answers soon enough 😏
Hating health insurance execs is one of the few uniting things among all common people. Even MAGA voters are generally going “Hell yeah brother” over it lol
People from all walks of life are fucked over by the minute by healthcare insurance agencies, this is a great way to unite the masses, everybody is celebrating.
It probably felt like the first episode of My Name is Earl where the wind takes his lottery ticket. These people have no decency or morals. They know their race horses and private jets were paid for with the blood of people who needed help but died filling out paperwork. I have no sympathy for them.
Imagine how you would feel if the person you were pretending to be married to was murdered and you would have to find a way to buy yachts and vacation houses without any way of letting children die in the process. That kinda thing hits hard.
The one thing me and my dad agreed on recently has been the guy deserved to be shot and its really fucking funny he did. probably helped my dad knows how insurance works
Hilariously the only people I know who've said its bad to celebrate are the most surface level libs. The leftists, the far right guy, the centrists, literally everyone else is like "yeah fuck em".
we were all talking about this at work yesterday laughing and making jokes about it. most people feel that the murderous ceo deserved it. because he did.
Even my mother, the kindest, most caring person on the planet, a claim I would defend vociferously, was just like, 🤷 "UHC causes us the MOST problems and I spend more time dealing with their shit than every other insurerer combined."
I had a patient yesterday who made a joke about it because their insurance company had denied some medication for them claiming it wasn't medically necessary.
I've never seen something with as close to unanimity as support for this CEO being wiped.
Let's just hope some politicians are watching and use this to push for positive change...or just do the typical democrat thing and not want to offend anyone =/
It’s true! One less greedy billionaire who only delays and denys….posts I’ve read.
Our mystery man is today’s answer to the 1995 book by John Grisham “The Rain Maker”.
Some of the least online people I know were sharing memes and cracking jokes about this whole thing. For once, I was the one surprised by someone's callous disregard for a CEO's life. Usually causing the gasps on that front.
I've never seen a single act of violent protest send such shock waves through our country and I'm damn near 60 years old. The left and right are united on this front--this was a justifiable homicide. It is absolutely unheard of. The healthcare companies seem to be genuinely scared. Good.
There is the faintest whiff of a *terrifying* possibility (for those in charge) that this event will have the peasants, both left and right, realizing in their shared joy who the actual "bad guys" are and that it's not each other.
Hey, if y'all are all for the capital punishment of those who have been fucking us all to death, do I have a pitch for you for some must-watch primetime television:
The people saying this are pundits, stock traders, and influencers, so when they say "people in real life," they're talking about their brunch friends.
the only person who has thought otherwise has been my coworker (a 60 year old liberal) and when i brought it up with her today and the first words out of her mouth were “oh isn’t it so awful?! the killer is so handsome though”
I made a joke in my work teams chat that he was now the “chief executed officer” and got 200 laugh reacts and my managing director followed it up with an “officer down” meme
I'm surprised at how unanimous the response to the hit was, from all sides of the political compass. It's getting to the point I feel like suggesting you shouldn't gun people down on the street is something of a contrarian opinion.
i’m relatively new at a job still feeling people out. me and a really quiet/sweet woman started gently talking about it and got to “bro really got what he deserved” with record speed. she’s so real for that
I'm not saying I'm happy that someone was killed.. I'm not saying I'm celebrating their death..
But I can't help but think that groups of people dragging CEOs, judges, and politicians, who have hurt others to enrich themselves, out of their homes might cause some of them to HELP others instead...
People talk about being conflicted about these feelings but this guy inflicted institutional violence on people at a mass scale and was working to further it via AI.
He chose violence. No one should be surprised that someone responded with violence in return. Live by the knife die by the knife.
Who would've thought all you had to do to not have people celebrating and laughing about your death was not be a terrible, corrupt fuckhead in life.
Rest in piss, you won't be missed.
this is actually one of the rare moments ive worried my take is too internet brained and been surprised that my offline friends totally get it and feel similar.
This pledge is amazing. Anyone who's worked in US healthcare knows the largest hindrance to providing quality care is almost always cost. And the insurance industry and healthcare executives are responsible for a majority of that cost.
Man. United health should be demolished. I have a brain tumor and they tried to deny my meds because I caught it "too early" and my only symptoms were hormonal. Paid out of pocket for an MRI just to prove it was there.
Oh this is a great resource! Also awful and horrible, but I think it really is a good demonstration of how much we're all getting fucked over by these people
Hopefully an employee will get a lawyer to look at this form! Insurance companies are bullies, especially related to healthcare! I think it’s morally irresponsible of insurance companies to take your money for your whole life, then deny you coverage when you need it the most!
Despicable
It's a good thing for the execs that taking a pledge of allegiance is like a Fey oath, and magically binds the person into keeping their word. It's not like employees could just lie.
Well today I made a large collection of screenshots from Facebook of people who had their claims denied by United Healthcare. So I'm not terribly shocked.
my future-mother-in-law isn't much for violence and doesn't seem eager to cheer it on but she didn't have much more to say when i pointed out she had spent her entire morning arguing with united healthcare
WHY DO PEOPLE KEEP FORGETTING THIS GUY WAS UNDER INVESTIGATION FOR MALFEASANCE/EMBEZZLEMENT/FRAUD, AND THEN FOR INSIDER TRADING PRIOR TO DISCLOSING THE FIRST INVESTIGATION TO SHAREHOLDERS
What's the saying? America finally does the right thing after exhausting every other option? If this is how we end up with healthcare it will be the most American thing

>Right, so you know the guy in charge of denying medical care to your sick family members?
"So is there like, a sign up sheet to piss on the grave or do we just queue up?"
But being honest, if a few evil billionaires get gunned down in the street for their horrific practices then the world might become a better place.
That would make me happy even though I would be sad that they died.
I just hope some good comes from it. The billionaires and politicians do need to fear the people. That's the point of democracy.

But business is more valued than people in the USA
And if the same thing happened to those responsible for #Grenfell I would absolutely rejoice because they got their just deserts.
That may make me a hypocrite.
I understand how people feel about him, I do, but I feel the same way whenever I hear about anyone dying.
I apologize if that upsets you.

I’ve never chosen their songs for karaoke 🎤
It’s not my range 🤣
I have sung along at top volume (great peril to my silvery soprano) to others singing “ich will” 🤣 at karaoke 🎤
It is a great way to blow off steam & participate in community activity during the coming dark years
Carry on!
Is this anything
And they also added a couple names to the Christmas wishlist
I'm sorry for his family, but daddy bought them that house in return for killing innocent people who ALSO had families (whom daddy left broke and in-debt).
Which is the kind of bizarre liberal cognitive dissonance I've come to expect from her
I hope that when he went back to his time that it worked and fixed everything! 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼
These issues are systemic, and nothing that conservatives support will change anything, including the murder of one highly compensated employee.

Everyone else thinks shit rocks.
can’t we do that here
like, regular people are eating this shit up. its good actually when evil people get got, hmm
The most horrific person I’ve met recently was a sour 85 year old woman
She fooled me because she looks adorable
A horrible dud of a person though when you get to know her
Let's just hope some politicians are watching and use this to push for positive change...or just do the typical democrat thing and not want to offend anyone =/
Our mystery man is today’s answer to the 1995 book by John Grisham “The Rain Maker”.
Left and right will claim the shooter is on their side.
Cos nearly everyone has one of those.

Must've been the fact that the CEO didn't manage to make billionaire status even with all of the disgusting shit he did.
No matter how much they want it to be, this isn't internet brainrot.

Despicable
I particularly like how they require you to condemn violence against EXECUTIVES specifically, not against people in general
https://imgur.com/a/yczbSDa
sign an oath not to doxx the C-Suite or applaud the killing on social media or criticize Healthcare
or else “face legal consequences.“
And they need MY prior authorization.
