if people are going to insist that different alcohol drinks make you different types of drunk then i will insist that different pasta shapes will give me different emotions

I don't get hangovers, because I pace myself, eat food, and drink lots of water. (One drink of water between each sip of cocktail, and a good bartender will keep that water glass filled.)
Oh, in my wayward youth I've had hangovers that would kill a horse. The Irish whiskey hangover (where the last thing I remember is us drinking it from the bottle, after an Irish friend & mentor died) and the sake hangover were the worst.
"Just be glad you got drunk on sake after eating fish. If you eat red meat then get drunk on sake, wake up next morning, wish you were dead." -- My friend Hiroki, when I was suffering my catastrophic sake hangover, the morning after the night before.
One time in TX I went to a house party that was basically some sort of celebration for 20 somethings, and of course everyone got plastered. Before I went, I ate this huge steak quesadilla. I didn't even get buzzed after 6 jello shots. Everyone had the worst hangover of their lives, except me lol
its true tho. fun shaped pasta = a fun shaped meal. i FULLY believe that. if the pasta is a fun shape for the eater, and the eater is happy when they're eating it, and having fun eating it, or the shape makes them smile, then the meal is automatically 15-25% better.
honestly would wonder if this is a food reaction. Lotta stuff in beer that's kind of... ONLY in beer, y'know? Like, where else do you get barley, unless you eat canned beef soup?
Ok, but hear me out
Different alcohol DOES make me different kinds of drunk!
Because I drink different alcoholic drinks when I'm in different moods. And THAT'S what actually causes the different kinds of drunken behavior. But not everyone pays attention to the actual root causes, only correlation.
I'm not sure tortellini count as just "pasta" tho. What's IN them? Is it cheese? sausage? other cheese? fish? (oh god, don't put fucking fish in the fucking tortellini)
That's a given. Rotini in three cheese sauce with diced ham and spinach makes one feel sophisticated, but elbow macaroni? Toddler comfort food. Penne Al'Diavolo? makes me feel energized. Wagon wheels in velveeta? Need a nap.
Penne makes you pedantic. Tagliatelle makes you feel too fragile to go outside. Cavatappi makes you compliment everyone you interact with. Ravioli turns you into a bro. This is just science.
I noticed a few years ago that every time I had a Chimay that I became unbelievably overtly depressed, but that never happens with martinis or old fashioned, etc. Had to remember to stop ever considering them.
the idea that some people don't know the different experiences of eating different shaped pasta suggests that we of Italian heritage need to do more evangelizing
Hmmmm, I hadn't thought about it before. After carefully considering it for several minutes I find your idea holds water and might be interested in your newsletter.
This is real tho. Buccatini evoke a hearty unearned contentment, orecchiette a meandering disclarity of mind, capunti are known to lead one into a false sense of yearnful dread.

If you just drank and did none of those smart things, you'd get a hangover!

Penne doesn't hold sauce well so it does make me sad and frustrated :D

Ziti definitely doesn't make me as happy as ravioli.

How do you feel about pierogi?
My kids get into screaming matches about whether we should eat spaghetti or penne, and half the time I just cannot with it and end up making both.
