I didn't laugh. Hell I didn't know it was about cheese. I did ask you once why the moon looked like cheese on the cover but you didn't tell me. Now i know why
I was in London last week and stopped at Waterstone’s just off Trafalgar Square to buy the new book. “We received the books but sold out in one day and we’re waiting to get our second delivery”, said the sales manager.
Well done, Mr Scalzi.
LOL, My mother tried to tell me that all my childhood until Appollo. The day Neil stepped out I roared "SEE! It's not cheese!" She laughed till she cried.
John's an old friend and we have a running joke that I'm mad at him for coming up with ridiculous premises and then writing really good books that make me laugh and cry.
Okay granted, the book is inviting saturday and im super excited to read it, but i dont believe it for a second that when writing you didnt once think "what am i doing, why am i writing a book about cheese". At the very least in a joking manner😉😉 🌕🌖🌗🌘🧀🧀🧀
The world was grate-ly concerned when the moon turned to cheese, but scientists assured everyone they’d brie fine—as long as no one took a gouda chunk out of it!
I'm about half way thru the audio version. I love it. I just keep laughing about guys wanting to eat moon cheese. Love when Will Wheaton voices your books! I got hooked on your books with the Old Man's War series. Keep the silliness coming!
A lot of people follow authors because they like their books. I’m now about to buy your book because I like your posts. I had no idea you wrote books. 😬
I own a good number of your books & have been interacting with your content here for a good chunk but for whatever reason it was only THIS post (and seeing the cover of your book) today when I put 2 + 2 together that I realized you were also the author whose books I love!! 😅
I'm reading that it's a traditional holiday giving thanks to tech workers, we're supposed to leave small bits of cheese under their keyboards as a token of gratitude.
For the Tech Bros leading those companies, you must put the cheese bits under the keys on the keyboard. Just enough so that the tapping of the keys SOMETIMES work an other tms jut don regstr fr thm
No, I've been celebrating it since the 1990s, and it's individually wrapped slices of cheese under the whole keyboard. No pranking aspect to it, just the gift of cheese.
I really enjoy listening to you narrate Scalzi's books. It's actually your "fault" that I started reading / listening to the books as it was your narration of Lock In that introduced me to @scalzi.com's writing.
Same here. I know the book sounds like a joke, but it had some heartbreaking and beautiful scenes. I think it’s one of the best things @scalzi.com has ever written.
Chuck I just realized that you have a book about evil apples and John has a book about moon cheese, is this the start of a menacing charcuterie board? who can we get to bring the fell prosciutto
well, we do aspire to add some pepperonis this year!
btw, my kids have tortilla throw blankets, but big round pepperoni blankets should exist too, if they do not
But how does it taste? Like a Vermont Cheddar, or a wheel of triple creme brie? Like a parmesean or a fresh mozzarella? I got a copy and I'll be pairing it with a glass of pinot.
I throughly enjoyed Wil Wheaton reading the kind shout out from Scalzi to Phil at the very end of the Audible version, you are such a good person Phil! 😁👍
This is en excellent place for me to tell you that I recently read "Under Alien Skies" and it was great! Really enjoyed it, as I did "A City On Mars" which I think you recommended 😊 .
I think we are in an age where book publishers need to be in the streaming business. Every book published should have a long or short production of it, either as a movie, series or show. Yes, I am saying that because I'm now too lazy to read a book anymore.
I asked this question in a separate post but perhaps @scalzi.com will see it here first - my greatest concern upon finishing the book just now is, did the “really messy” book ever get published?!
Just wanted to say thanks for your writing. I came across your books a few years ago in our local library in Chichester (UK), and yesterday finished re-reading 'Agent to the Stars', which is clever, funny and touching (and I bought it: I write, too!). Keep up the good work!
I have to admit that when it was first announced the premise gave me pause. Naturally I am loving it. No surprise there: I have loved every book you have published. Thanks for the great ride!
Just finished my listen.
I must say Will Wheaton is a perfect fit as narrator for this book. It was a great book, a mix of fun old school SF, and with periods of deep emotional impact.
Chapeu Mr Scalzi!
I don't know how many people ended up on my library's wait list for it, but it was enough that they went from having 6 copies to now having 14!
Congrats, and I can't wait to read it!
Pope Hilarius II. One of the funniest names I have ever had the pleasure of reading. My drink almost went up my nose. Thank you again for a wonderfully funny and amazing book.

Well done, Mr Scalzi.
Like a big laser beam
That’s no moon
It’s a space station
That's the blurb for the second edition for sure!
I still buy John’s books, but I’m mad about it. 🤣
(Happily including me.)
If i buy a copy, how many "man yells at man over cheese book" posts am I allowed?
Congratulations!
When the Moon Hits Your Eye
:D
Bonus for me! 🤓😁
I'd hunt it down and eat it, if I were you.

You just happen to also be a very talented nutso
But I loved it!
And I really want to read her books.
in 2002 #NASA posted a picture that proved the #moon was made of #cheese - including the expiration date...
ARE WE TARIFFING THE MOON CHEESE
WHAT DID YOU DO
(also: congrats!)
you can count on me to blurb your spooky chorizo book
obviously I have more research to do before I can begin my magnum opus
btw, my kids have tortilla throw blankets, but big round pepperoni blankets should exist too, if they do not
Congrats!
Wann können wir mit der deutschen Ausgabe rechnen,
@fischertor.bsky.social?
(Seriously though, it was a fun read.)
“Well actually in Dutch it’s pronounced…”
* gets pushed off a cliff *
(Enjoyed the book, no spoilers!)
Sad to say I was not familiar with Scalzi before coming here to BlueSky.
I “knew” you from “How the Universe Works” from TV and I have enjoyed both of your contributions here!
phil, no
don't engage on his level, it only encourages him
