I'm a moderate on the issue of cars, I don't think they should be banned but I do think they should all be this. Now I know what you're thinking: what if I need to go fast or need more space? That's just too bad

Jeremy Clarkson is a twat, but the footage of him trying to drive a Reliant Robin (which I think is the car in the photo?) is the funniest thing I've seen on TV in an age.
I knew a kid in highschool whose parents owned a BMW Isetta. They let us take it for a drive and it was a blast. Sorry I have nothing funny to say, your post just sparked a memory.
I'll make it go fast anyway by slapping in a comically overpowered electric motor. As for space... why don't we build up! It will be some Top Gear grade abomination...
I'm a moderate, too. And I think car insurance should not cover cosmetic damage, and it's tragic we built a society where car ownership is a requirement for quality of life in most places but a huge cost burden on the least well-off.
This reminds me of the town I had my 1st apartment in. It was the county seat of my rural county, but still small. There was a Mennonite farm not far outside of town. The Dollar General had a hitching post so they could get supplies in their wagon. They also sold baked goods outside the store.
I mean if we designed transport from a purely rational perspective, you'd have two types - public which could include super fast trains - and small personal transport with a limit of about 40kmh. It would be the safest and most efficient.
haha they look like their centre of mass is too high to not fall over any time they take a 20 degree turn, and after they fall over you would just be shredded by glass
You're too old for that stuff anyways. Hire some young guys with a truck when you need space, professionals won't hurt themselves like you would. And then go smoke a joint in the hot tub till the urge for speed passes, or get it out on a bike, where other people won't get hurt
I'm really sad so many smart cars are no longer available. The biggest thing I ever haul is a few bags of mulch once a year and this could handle that (or I could figure it out)!
I don't like these if only because their shortness makes them a danger to the occupants. Things that wouldn't affect the driver and passenger in a normal car would kill you in that.
Japan had the right idea with Kei cars. You could get anything you needed, a little 2-seater, a van a family could fit in, a truck, anything. But they were all reasonably sized and of a reasonable weight.
We need to bring back bubble cars. BMW Isettas, Messerschmitts and Peel P50s were popular in Postwar Britain because of fuel prices. They’d be ideal for today.
It's weird JRR Tolkien lamented when many historic buildings were being torn down to fit cars into the city, now cars no longer fit the streets that were built for them.
Why so big and bulky? If we go communist, then we should go hard.

I like it. I think something closer to the size of the Vaz 2101 would suit the majority of people today for transportation. It would also be very nice to have a multiplatform base that can easily be changed or modified by the owner.
I’m just against people owning those comically huge trucks, like, could it possibly be any more obvious they spent a ton of money to hide their tiny peckers?
This is still nicer than cars of today, however, the hood's shape would hit a bit shorter people on the head-first in case of a collision. We don't want that- ideally, like the three-wheeler from the op, they should hit legs first to dissipate the initial impact a bit.
I love that if you got into a fender bender, the car would just roll over and keep rolling until it was upright again. "BEEP BEEP" and back driving again.
“This is the future the liberals want” is, iirc, memified quote from a conservative fearmonger trying to make out something fairly normal to seem degenerate. The above person is not saying anything about his actual knowledge or opinion of liberals. I would drive this car if it were smaller
Another idea is if you’re over 6’ and absolutely need the leg room you can get a medical exemption and buy one of these leaning enclosed trikes and automatically become 1000x more of a sexual ubermensch.
The only real flaw with this particular car is the legroom for normal human proportions. I am 6’4 and have ridden in a smart car, and while I love micro coupes I can honestly say I did not enjoy that experience. So, I have devised this simple solution for all us goliaths. The design is very human.
Now I know what you’re thinking. My 6’7 17 year old son is gonna break the windscreen on my brand new 2024 Subaru Chica on the way to his state Basketball championship! This can easily be fixed with plexiglass windscreens and a pair of MSCHF Rubber Boots. He can even serve as the windshield wipers!
I think, and I’m being genuine here, the best part about this plan is is that everything about this system would be far cheaper. Oceans cheaper. We could be living in a world where cars are only as expensive to buy and maintain as freakin dirt bikes but people want to roll around in domestic Hummers
“What if I need to move my whole house and all my things to the other side of the country?” We’ll put a 16ft cargo pod on the back of one of these and you can rent them for $15 a day + insurance.
Very much a drawing board idea, but most areas should have smaller roads for only smaller cars. Maybe something like the Metro micro or other microtransit options. Then you have larger roads between areas.
Anybody driving a truck through a neighborhood should be dragged out of their car and shot.
I hate these. A friend once gave me a lift in theirs through London traffic and it was terrifying. I felt like I was about to bang my head on the road anytime and even ordinary cars seemed enormous and threatening
By far my favorite driving experience in my Forza games is not the massive glut of million dollar hypercars going at a million miles a minute, but the handful of incredible historical microcars that roll over at the slightest suggestion of speed
Much agreed, if someone's like 'but I need to drive my kids to school' or something - first of all - no you don't, not in my perfect world without cars. Second of all, for a handful of special cases we can implement some car-tows that'll look similar to those for bikes.

‘The oil finally ran out… and somewhere in the future the chase has begun. A phantom jet must catch and destroy the last car on earth ‘. Good stuff!
If you need more space, you can attach a cargo trailer to it.
"It no longer exists."
Let's have some choices here!
Once.
Downhill.
It was very scary.
A collision with a truck will end my life.
A cross-country trip will never happen.
That looks too Scarry.
…which I totally want, because it is better than walking, easier to schedule than public transit, and doesn’t require a license in my jurisdiction.
Honestly need less of these monstorous SUVs and Trucks out on the roads.
but that's fine, I don't need to be anywhere in a hurry

If someone needs more space, they can have a Reliant Supervan III
What more could one possibly need?
Fine unless you park against a wall
Safer, more fuel efficient, easier on your vehicle too
Sadly it does have a tiny boot though so might be disqualified.
suvs and trucks as family cars suck
