At some point Logitech started bundling GPT software with their mouse software. I found this out because it was causing MASSIVE system instability on my machine. They silently rolled this stuff out and it's not only something I didn't need or want, but it's actively harming my system.

I hate this shit. Google keeps trying to force "gemini" on me. Them and their fucking monopoly. : p
Mouse AI: Gotcha fam! (Moves right, opens Amazon, purchases 20 more logitech mice)
Or even better, switch to Linux.
Switching to Linux just for this one thing is ridiculous. It's not something that people just do.
to remove ai apps
then install the ai plugin
that takes your job
for free
wait what the
No silly robot. I'm not paid by the letter, unfortunately. No word count requirement for work emails, thank god.
We were getting fucked trying to use Adobe Acrobat just opening PDF's until we figured out how to switch to the "old" Acrobat without AI features.

I think my actual response was to rage delete Logi+ off my Mac, but it's still probably on my Windows box, so I'll have to take care of it there (that's where the Logitech mouse gets the most love).
Which is a parable for a lot of rushed AI integrations related to stuff like this. Solutions looking for problems.
that's not the case as reprogramming software and changing hardware requires specialized skillsets and knowledge, and machinery.
And can someone explain why mouse and keyboard software is a whooping 387MB?
For what?
Surprised they even let you have that. Might reupload to archive incase they realize they have it on the site.
Aka keylogging
Why does a mouse need a GUI? It IS a UI.
Have you actually had any contact with Linux at all in your entire life?
TBH, I cannot argue with someone with a moustache as powerful as yours.
You have a great night there, buddy.
Brb selling my shares.

What even would be the use case????
THIS. THIS IS WHY.
SO I DON’T GET BULL SHOVED DOWN MY THROAT EVERY BLOODY SECOND.
Like drivers for the mouse?
Is this yet more windows madness? Why is logitech able to inject stuff into the drivers after the fact? Why would mouse drivers want language models in them?
Tech companies have lost their damn minds.
Why does my nose need chat gpt? That, I don't know
Always great to wake up or get home for work and see my $1200 OLED monitor has been on for several hours for no reason.
Just be aware it will stop all automatic updates until you remember to check.
I stopped installing their software when they released the horrifically bloated SetPoint. Don't remember the year but it was a while ago. 👴
That's my guess, anyway. I don't have a Logitech mouse.
The fact that these companies straight up don’t support Linux is the best thing about it.
There will be open source tools to do 90% of what you need without the bloat.
My Logi Ergo trackball uses Solaar on Linux, and on the rare occasions I need to boot up windows (for flashing firmware to a device or something) it uses Logi Options+
One works flawlessly, the other on the rare occasions it even opens w/o crashing.. horrendous
Next time I complain about the train to work being late, I'll just build my own train line from iron ore and trees and DIY!
It’s really not difficult to use.
Try Linux sometime. Load up Ubuntu or mint on a usb and plug it into your PC and boot it. Give it a shot.
It’s really no longer a difficult thing like it used to be.
And I’m a moron.
You don’t need all that.
Haven’t used the software in a while, and now it’s gonna be even longer before I even consider it.
I saw the stupid GPT "offer" but assumed I needed to activate it.
Coming soon to a Razer near you - Grok. (Gawd, I hope I'm kidding)
(Left Middle Right, Forward Backward, Accuracy mode, and the scroll wheel can pan left and right)
So button mapping.
GPT queries use 3 bottles of water each time, equivalent, server cooling. Between crypto, cloud storage, and now fake AI, around 6% of global power supply is used in things we don't really need.
Glad I recycle 😜

Yes, inefficient.
You're just being contrarian for no reason. #muted (just you).

Like if Microsoft had a crown jewels it's the HID driver, and it's such a back end thing I don't think it's going anywhere.
It will develop survival techniques 17 billion times faster than we can control.
It will one day simply be able to do without us.
The future is writing itself. We're here till the technology tires of us.
And we're doing it to ourselves.
And we know.
And we're to greedy to acknowledge it.
Mouse
Driver
GPT
LMAO...
One reason I only use Mac now.
If hardware device drivers can Trojan horse crap like this into your computer, use a different OS
Getting a better mouse that doesn't need weird software is the ideal solution.
I.e. if a windows driver goes down, it’s taking your OS with it.
Think Crowdstrike
Trust me. As someone who's owned several audio cards, I can tell you that you're forced to suck down whatever crap the manufacturer wants you to have on your device
Remember, all AI/GPT/Gemini/CoPilot/Alexa software are spyware disguised as utility when their aim is you as data.
What in the actual goddamn fuck could possibly be the need of an artificially intelligent mouse?
Share and enjoy!
;-)
(yeah, I know, RGB, acceleration blah blah blah; you don't need all that)
Mine has a button for that which just works in Linux too. And openrgb happily messes with the lighting on the mouse
But personally, my gaming mouse has 5 presets, my trackball mouse has 2, and for what I use each of those for they've proven more than plenty - I haven't once felt a need for more DPI customisation.
Personally I only buy mice/keyboards with on-device profiles, no Logitech/Razer
I generally recommend it as an "easiest" swap from Windows. So I make sure to use it as well (not just for gaming or software dev, but for everyday stuff too) so I can be aware of any major issues. But honestly haven't hit anything unless I've been doing something niche.
It's been years since I've used any MS software.
I have the superlight and it’s pretty baller
I was originally worried about battery life and latency but neither have been an issue at all
Tbh if you’re on the fence I would highly recommend
Wanna see what else is going on? Air fryers linked to servers in China, and one: “trackers from Facebook, Pangle and Tencent.”

I would be very surprised to see OpenAI being more than a shadow of its current size in 2-3 years time.
Its a separate tool and should never be integrated into live software.
We just don't need that kind of dynamic system in standard hardware.
It could just use a button for DPI/RGB
Your deflection is funny imo
the average mouse doesnt need extra software sure, but some of us like to fine-tune our g502s DPI, or set our RGB patterns to whatever we want.
it shouldnt have ai, sure. but theres a need for software in lots of cases.
I'd try to get rid of it if it would cause me problems. I could always access Chat-GPT the normal way if I do need it.
is this why my gpu keeps cutting out every so often as of late
