I’ve seen people suggesting this is a pitch to seniors and, while it is in a way, the real target of this are their kids.
They’re the ones who would otherwise have to shoulder the financial burden on their own and/or personally provide the care for their elderly parents themselves.

I'm not just saying this too, I work in finance and groups that do this sort of research identified this as a very Gen X issue & present it as part of their results.
We also see how LTC services can drain life savings because they are not paid for, and don't want that to be us.

Oh dear !
Just about like they do in fully civilised countries.
-Much to fair to be accepted.

Do you refer to a 'home' with armed guards ?
-To avoid escaping from the 'home'.
My generation as I’ve ever seen.

So sorry; it's (hyperbolic understatement) not easy.
B/c taking care of her at home kept her *healthier*.
Yeah, check the fine print on that policy to see how much it covers and, more important, when it applies. Some don’t kick in for months.
Until that point, you’re paying entirely out of pocket.
I'm wondering how many of them are "long term care" in name only, and only are there to collect money from people who think they are getting something more material.
I was already voting for Harris/Walz but this adds to the 1000s of reasons why.
Your folks probably do not have it or if they do, it is probably limited in scope.
Tough shit, the courts are gonna make you pay for it anyway.
The article didn’t seem to say, though I admit I only skimmed.
They kicked in, but just that fear and confusion...
Yes, exactly correct! The fine print on these damn policies will shaft you every time! We're going through this with my father, right now, and the deceitfulness of these insurance policies is not to be believed! 😠
*More than once since we've had the policy.
The hoops my mom had to jump through to protect her house in case this happens to her is crazy. And locked her out of benefiting from equity in her home when she needed it.

Perhaps best for them to stay at home on election day.

In that case: Make haste. Go and vote.
Just to avoid any obstacles on the 5th.
This should keep me from being institutionalized and ignored for being a “difficult” old lady.
(but she doesn't need to pitch me, I'm onboard already)
Not to mention, parents of disabled children.
