Accurate. DS9 is my fave ST because they couldn't move on from the shitstorm. They had to sit there and deal with it instead of flying off like Pollyanna, thinking they solved the historically rooted problems in a planet's conflict with a motivational speech.
Not only that, they had character arcs of both individuals & whole civilizations reflecting each other. All cultures managed to progress, even as some characters didn't. VERY rich complexity. SO MUCH MORE than other ST.
It's the only Star Trek (so far) where the child of a guest character has a more meaningful character arc than many main characters from the other Star Trek shows.
I once worked with a guy who constantly would say "it's all good" when things weren't going his way. At some point, he ended up leaving under not the best conditions, and he used that phrase during his exit interview, and I had to tell him, "my brother in Christ, things are definitely not all good"
It probably sounds a bit mean, but I think in the long run it was better to be honest with him as a friend. After that, a good couple of years of suppressed feelings came out and that was an important step for moving forward. οΏΌ
ALT lost dog poster: βlook at this beautiful motherfucking dog. He was last seen being awesome in my huge ass back yard which is where he is right now being awesome as usualHe is about the most beautiful god damn dog in the whole world and chews on expensive food all the time.β
No joke, I sang this to my now-6yo when she was a baby when she was upset and I was cradling her and it always calmed her down. I literally conditioned her to subconsciously associate it with love and warmth practically from birth. I have no idea how she will react to the truth but I can't wait.
